The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) admitted on Monday that it is factionalised but said it is working on reuniting the aggrieved members and bringing them back into its fold.

A factional group in the party, Lagos4Lagos, led by Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, aka JANDOR, held a parallel ward congress in the state to elect officers at the local government level last month.

Also, a factional Chairman of APC in Lagos State, Fouad Oki is also challenging the position of Alhaji Tunde Balogun, the State Caretaker Chairman of the party in the state. Oki who is the Chairman of the APC Democrats and his group refused to participate in the congress, saying the consensus arrangement by the  Balogun- led group is illegal.

Speaking with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Balogun said having aggrieved members in a large party like APC in Lagos is not strange, adding that they have embarked on massive reconciliation of the members.
“Of course, we have done a bit of reconciliation. Going forward, we are going to embark on massive reconciliation of members”.

“There is no political party where we will not have some people who are aggrieved and have dissenting views.  So, if it is happening in Lagos APC, it is not new or a strange thing”.

"But our ability to bring these dissenting members to the fold is what is important to us. At any given time, there will always be disagreements”.

“We have millions of APC members in Lagos state and so, if few of them are dissenting, we definitely have to make sure we talk to them and convince them to come back and what with the party. That is what we are doing now”.
