I'll be resigning in the from my work place to venture into Freelancing full time. Why?

Because my work is so stressful. It's 6:04am and I'm already late for work. I'll be at the work place doing tedious work till 7:30pm. I'll have to be standing till that evening time of the day. It's a one man business and I risk being fired any time. From March to August, I've been able to save 55k. I don't do it drinks. Neither do I smoke or buy expensive things for myself. Well, yes. I don't have a girlfriend. So saving 55k portrays how zealous I am with the savings with the little I earn. Now, I'm facing a health challenge: a back and waist pain. So I want out.

Planning on focusing on the Freelancing route.

My worry now is, am I making the right decision?

I need your advice. What would you do if you were to be me?

To be or not to be?

Before you get a gig, you go wait Taya. Don't quite your job except you have other way to generate money first

Most likely be frustrated after two months when you don't get the gigs.

Are you passionate about the kind of work you want to freelance for, or you're just looking for ways to leave your current job. If it's the later you're just wasting your time, people just think freelancing is just easy peasy where you just enter and start getting gigs everywhere, it's not so, you spend years in it to build enough portfolio, so my advice, stay at your job, and be doing your freelance with every bit of spare time you have, before moving out.
I'm sure when you do your freelance alongside your job and you stay months without a single gig, and face the humongous number of competition in the freelance space, you'd be happy you didn't just quit and dive into freelancing without building the portfolio and project base.

Emotions cloud reasoning, so act logically not out of emotions

Well, you're a strong person. Talking about working for people is not bad but you have to know one thing. Don't resign when you don't have a back up system that can sustain you.

It's not going to be easy but first build a system you're sure of then do that which you wish.

My candid advice..

But one person talked about not making it on UPWORK.

I would like to address that..

First thing your mindset works alot against or for you in making money.

You feel you can't make it on freelance site, so it would be for you.

Upwork is making guys rich and I can proudly tell you it paying.

When you know your onions well you will make it.

If you didn't register through an expert, you will likely not going to make it.. in skill smartness cannot help you..

Maybe you did it yourself and it's not paying you..

Upwork has pattern and when not followed clients won't accept your proposal.

From getting an approved Upwork account to getting a specialized profile. Your portfolio, work samples, certificate.

Many smart ones tried doing it alone and got banned.

I creat approves account for people
Just within a minute and came testifying so it's really wrong saying it's scam because you're not doing it the right way..

I can help you create yours at affordable price.

My worry now is, am I making the right decision?

I need your advice. What would you do if you were to be me?

To be or not to be?

I love your courage. You shouldn't regret your decision; but only if:

1. You already have a good background in freelancing
2. You're already earning or have some ‘fullproof’ method to marketing your skills
3. You have enough money to stay unhungry and foot your bills until your new path can sustain you

To add: if 55k is all you can boast of, you may hold a bit and further grow your savings.

Why so? Because you can't bank on people's screenshots you see online. While there are millions to be made from any online freelancing concept, you should also consider the common possibility of not having a client for days or weeks (maybe months sef) - even your [sincere] tutors will tell you so.

Another advice:
if you wish to depend solely on your 55k, then get a GOOD mentor (who you can confirm lives off freelance writing -- not those ebook sellers) that understands your situation and willing to hold you tight by the hand through until you stand unaided ( many out there are just looking for newbies to rip off with stupid recycled materials and inspirational quotes)..

With a practical mentor, you go quick break through. Besides, If you never start get personal jobs, him fit even pity you de outsource to you just to keep body and soul meanwhile.

But In all, bro, I envy and solidly support your decision. And since you no de drink, smoke, and no get girlfriend, you be like who go quick make am. Lol(jokes).

Welcome boss. Wish you Godspeed!

You're on the right track baba. No go kill yourself for another man work. For those of you advising him to combine freelancing with his job. Job that gave him waist pain you want him to combine with freelancing, you want to kill him? 6 to 7, when he comes back home is it not to rest? When will he have time for freelancing which is barely a part-time thing these days unless you want to stay on peanuts.

I did the same. Sometimes February this year. But before I quoted, I was already earning more than my salary designing website on fiverr. I also had some savings though as a back up in case.

I will advice you start earning little from freelancing before you quit. So that by the time you eventually decide to leave the ample time will enable you earn more.

If you leave without having any source of income at all will make you eat your savings and you will most likely become depressed.

Freelancers experience depression oo.

My brother I understand how u feel. But be ready to accept any outcome of your decision.
1. Is good to start thinking about self independent
2. Always hv a backup plan before u quit, bcs the journey u are about to venture is not a child's play. Forget about motivational speakers, they will never tell u their secret but they will only motivate u and even make u feel as if working for someone is an abomination

You are making a very tight decision.

If you have writing skills and you are really good at it...

You will make good cash.

I'm a testimony to it.

I did quit my job too.

Very true
Only if you know how many accounts I have on different freelancing platforms yet no single gig.
And these freelancing even requires you do the job first then submit it for acceptance.

Imagine creating a website and the client rejects it. Despite their monetary policy, you stand a chance to loose a lot.
Freelancing is actually advisable in aspects like copywriting, transcription, not all areas like web development is good gig.
Most of all you have to compete with users with high ratings and reviews.
