As regards building credit score. I read online that paying utility bills don’t help but when you own or default it can affect it. Correct?

It depends on the company you use. I changed to E.on last year and received an an alert from my credit report that my points had gone down just because they put themselves on my credit report. Not all utility companies do this.

Ah, I see you guys had the right idea. Una do well, Fati and co, and thanks for the invite, icon8. Unfortunately the last thread had become overwhelmed, and it was extremely difficult to follow.

I'm sure the students will catch up with us here, so for those who eventually do:

- please read, read, read, research research, research

Thank you for this. Included this link on the front page and hope it helps

I read on the metro today that Nigeria might be going back into Red list countries. I thought it’s worth sharing in case you planing to enter Naija anytime soon

I thought there’s a way to hide some comments on this thread. I suggest we shld start doing that otherwise, the purpose of this thread will be defeated

If we all agree to just ignore them, they will either stop coming or be forced to read the first page and redirect to the correct thread.

Responding and encouraging the behaviour on the previous thread was what brought us here.

The rule they are breaking is actually Rule 1 of Nairaland. I wonder why the comments are not being hidden by the moderators.

I think reporting the comment also hides it.

Best thing is to just ignore these questions since people can’t read and follow simple instructions.

There is a thread for student visa application, there is also one for students living in the UK… but they just keep bringing these study related questions here.

Abegii let me go continue reading my life in the UK boring book.

It has been announced. 2 countries will be moving to the red list and Naija is excluded.

The truth of the situation here is that the covid figures being announced daily is fictitious. NCDC will realize the damage when Nigeria enters redlist.

My only wish was I knew about the whole provisional licence supersedes intl licence and apparently it was discussed on the thread and I missed it. That information might have saved a brother 10k direct debit gbese.

Please does your comment mean there is no point in getting an international driver's licence?
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by fatima04: 9:21pm On Aug 26, 2021
Pls who has experience travelling through Amsterdam or France after Brexit and obtaining a Transit visa.

Plus out of curiosity do British citizens need to get the transit visa as well?

From memory and other people's experienceon the other thread, I believe the normal naija licence allows you to drive in the UK and no need to obtain the special international licence

I really doubt this. Naija can't even be on the list of countries permitted to use normal driving licence

International license (which is valid for one year) is required if the person wants to drive on arrival to the Uk. The normal naija license is not allowed/recognised.

No citizens don't need a transit visa - they're a visa waiver country - max 3 months stay as a tourist

I beg to differ, any license outside the UK license is INTERNATIONAL. Just like I will say I have international work experience in my field as a Nigerian.
I believe making a special driving license by FRSC is only a means for income generation. My brother moved to UK from Saudi Arabia and used the normal license with no reprimand, why should the normal Nigeria driving license be inferior if there were no ulterior motives?
PS I am using normal license.
