By applying online. As soon as I felt ready and confident to have a job I was applying to jobs everyday. I knew all the latest Dev openings on hotnigerianjobs, myjobmag, linkedin, indeed etc. Upwork was open on my computer at least 10 hours everyday so I could see new gigs. It took me two weeks to get my first job this way and I was getting as much as ten to twenty interviews every week.

I was applying to at least 10 jobs everyday. It shocks me when I see new Devs say all the jobs they have applied to is just 10. Finding a job is a job on its own.

Got my first job from someone that knew i was actively into programming so he asked me to join his already established company. Although the money wasn't much but i needed to move from 0 to 1 so bad that i would have worked for free. Newton's first Law of motion

Please sir,
As a self-taught developer,
1. How did you begin?
2. Which programming language did you start with?
3. How long did you train before you started applying for jobs?
4. Which programming language is your area of focus?

Thanks.

Not an active developer (my brain don dey cold) but a self taught Voice Engineer working in Support. I had spent 5 months basically messing around with FreePBX (a leading open source VOIP solution)

Got my first job through Reddit. Joined reddit to have more knowledge on VOIP. Na so I see request for application for entry level opening for Yankee. Applied, Interviewed and was hired. All within a month. Salary I earn now is 10x what I used to earn. And I work from home. Internet bill is crazy as I am basically subscribed to two 50k per month providers. But we'll worth it.

I had applied for a Software Testing job online too. Got interviewed today but most likely going to turn it down as the pay no match my current. And I am not too competent in Manual (or Automated) Software Testing.

Walai Reddit is so underrated. I got my first remote job from there. If you are a developer, join active sub reddits and share your projects. They are so many people there that will pay you 1000 to 2000 USD monthly.

Easily top 2k USD monthly at $15/hr, 160 hours per month. Even if you accept $10/hr 160hrs monthly that's $1k6. And the good thing is that it's business in desperate need of labour. Like you get trained (and paid while in training) and still get hand held. Just be a bit competent. Most people who join all those specialist subredds are already enthusiasts with a high level of interest and basic competence

Money full Reddit o. A dev got sponsored to Canada from just showing his projects. Walai applying to jobs online is nonsense compared to knowing those oyinbos one on one. All these things we think are impossible are really very easy if you know them personally and they like you.
Even the guy who was sponsored to finland to build drone. It was from LInkedin the white man saw his projects.

You be real reddit veteran. Loads of possibilities there if you look in the right places. I was looking at a dev opening a few weeks back there. Offer was 85k and Americans where turning it down. If nobi say my coding dey Blunt I for grab the opportunity one time. Reddit and Crossover.com for me are major sources of remote. Crossover screening is a bit more intense but when u get that interview invite after passing all the exams on crossover.com, just know say u are good. Damned good.

My only problem right now na the work hours. No matter how late I try to sleep, once 8 or 9am knack and daylight don show here, I go wake.

My problem now is how to set up my cv/resume

I feel I should start applying, I have been undergoing a series of training based on practicals on android development and a bit of front end, but my base is android using kotlin. We are also learning react native for cross platform app dev.

Can someone help me with templates pls, to fix my cv/resume

To be very honest, I'm not ready yet because I am yet to know Javascript to the level that I'll be comfortable with it.

The company had only one mobile developer, their backend was built by a contract dev that left already, they needed to do some updates on the backend, so the mobile dev who was my friend came to me if I could help.

I was able to help them and to be very honest I didn’t know node very well at the time, I just googled my way through to get it done. The following week the CEO called me and I was interviewed and I was given the role. The pay was 30k.
