You are a sophisticated slowpoke. This picture is in 1967. Go to Northern Nigeria and see hungry kids in peacetime

Nigeria must continue to exist.

Now, I am aware of Nigeria being a contraption., and I have accepted it is a contraption since 2008.

But the problem is, as bad as this contraption is, all the alternatives are worse. In each alternative, the big tribes dominate and conquer smaller tribes. And as someone who comes from a smaller tribe, I don't like the idea of being dominated by the bigger tribe (One reason why many Niger delta people don't want to join Biafra is not because they do not agree with MNK and company in priniciple, but because they do not see any benefit staying in Biafra...and being dominated by Igbo. Just as many other minorites)

Second, large parts of this country depend on other parts of this country for food. And yes, don't deny it. Split Nigeria, and there would be borders. Once there be borders, there be tarrifs. Once there be tarrifs, food prices will shoot up. And once food prices shoot up...

Finally, all those arguing for splitting the country are doing so because they beleieve they will get more money from the sharing that way. Infact, one thing that secessionists and pro one Nigerians , BMC and anti-BMC share....that I don't like...is the idea that the ideal economy works by selling raw materials and sharing the revenue. Well, we do not control the price of what we sell. And that means that in order to get a prosperous economy, we must go and use our raw materials to power our manufacturing sector...and become an exporter of industrial goods. But most Nigerians don't think that way. And when there is a spilt....there would be a fight over who controls the resources.

I repeat...we don't have enough money in this country, because we sell oil at $80 and less, when in order to have a budget that can pay for everything sans borrowing, it needs to be at $133 and above per barrel. THAT is how most African countries are (REPLACE oil with gold, cocoa, platinum, copper, etc)....and why many of us are really in debt. And we use our limited resources to subsidsise everything...and the money we have left over is not enough, so we borrow more. Corruption and stealing makes a bad situation worse.

Nigerians may not like each other, as do most Africans. Most African countries are contraptions. But in 1963, the OAU voted to recognize most African borders as sacrosant...because of all the bad alternatives, it was the least worst. Same thing for Nigeria.

2023 is a major detiminant factor

some of us are still either too un-apologetically ignorant or still want to be politically correct all the time: 2023 will not change the current narratives; the earlier we understood this truth, the better.
we should stop hinging our hope on a non-existent "Transformation" from the Polls;
remember, we said the same thing in 2015, 2019 and then are still saying same for 2023.(That is if by then any humanity is still preserved in our institutions, because of the ethnic cleansing that is still ongoing institutionally).

Yes, when a people agree strongly. But have the Biafran people agreed strongly

Between Ohaneze, Massob, IPOB, ESN and the SE Govs sponsored Ebube Agu, the answer is NO!!! The people have not agreed strongly.

Just look at Anambra gov elections alone , with how difficult it is for even party members to agree at the primaries level.

Methinks the people still have a lot to learn about agreeing.

With all due respect most of the people who throw around the words "indivisibility" and "indissolubility" don't even know that they mean. Unity is never forced but nurtured. There can't ever be unity without (some form of) without justice and fairness.

When a region and ethnic group lord it over the rest by violent, barbaric and feudal means, crush every real and perceived opposition and hold on to power and resources by all means but profess "indivisibility", that is nonsense. Then to make matters worse, imposing religion above the constitution of the Republic.

Imagine a woman having a psychopathic, wicked man as a husband who beats and abuses her. But he claims their marriage is "indivisible". Isn't that madness?

This forced and faux unity can only last so long. Im neither for not against Nigeria breaking up but this forced, faux unity can only last a short time unless there is a conscious effort towards justice and equity for ALL Nigerians.

At the moment, sadly, we are far off

If you're from naija Delta, let's assume that there is Biafra and Igbo is marginalizing you, would you compare what you'll get as marginalized part of Biafra to what you're getting now in Nigeria where you're currently and practically being marginalized?
Let me make it clearer, a Fulani far away with a different culture and religion is exploring the resources in your father's land and using the proceeds to develop Fulani land even in Niger republic, created 44 local govts in kano, given amnesty to terrorist who's reason for terrorism is religion; a people who wants to force other people into their own faith.
But Igbo have familiar culture/tradition with you, familiar religion, languages, etc.
The resources of the current Nigeria is largely from the Niger-Delta and little from Igbo and I think southwest, therefore, if in Biafra what is being shared 70- 30% (70 to the north and 30 to the south) will now belong to only a few people who are supposed to be the real owners.
How can you compare the two scenario if you're wise?
Nigeria would have been a great country if not for the distrust which emanated from a total alien culture and religion between the North and the south. If things are done on a level play ground in Nigeria, no one is quest for secession, but a situation whereby a total stranger would hold on to what belongs to you and tells you that he will even do more should not be accepted by any reasons human. A Biafra will be a better place for the Niger-Delta, more than a thousand percent better than what today's Nigeria offers.
