He just has to be creative.

PSG bought Mbappe for 180m. Not saying we should bail them out for their irritating need to overspend, but they clearly have Flo bent over a barrel.

When the dust settles, Nasser will make a profit on Mbappe, whether it is 1m. And if we don't get him this summer, he'll almost certainly sign an extension--a player of Mbappe's stature will not leave for free from his boyhood club in his country of origin (Barca's stupidity is one of a kind; not at all reflective of all clubs); and we'll just have to pay higher next year. Which would be a pain considering Haaland is supposed to be the target in 2022.

No way he leaves on a free transfer from PSG. It actually is bad form.

And there are reports, although unconfirmed, that his father (also his agent) wants him to extend.

He is French. He is Parisian. PSG is a Parisian club. His family has a huge influence on his career choices. He is a World Cup winner. He can't just up and leave for free after PSG bent over backwards to make him the most expensive teenager in world football and provided ultimate support for him.

Not to mention, the destination is Real Madrid. We will extract every iota of talent from him and when he's a shriveled husk, we'll dump him. If he burns this bridge, that's one less high-priced retirement home for him.

Moreover, we're talking about the French, especially Parisians: they'll never forgive him and the fanbase is nuts. They already booed him in the first game of the season after the board ran a propaganda piece against him. If you think the pressure is high now, wait until it becomes a contractual certainty he'll leave for free without an extension.

The most recent package puts the price at 190m. Nasser should take the deal. As I said earlier, at the end of the day, he WILL make a profit. But let's not act like they don't have leverage. Flo P is not st*pid to offer $223m for a kid who should be free next year. You either drop that now or pay whatever release clause they include in a new deal next year.

Note that PSG want 220m for Mbappe (circa $260m) now. That will be the floor for any release clause.
