Gowon only visited awolowo after ojukwu released him from prison Gowon never released awolowo from prison

Gowon controlled the Federal Prisons not Ojukwu

Many of the Prison warders were Northerners and Westerners and they took Orders from Gowon

Also Awolowo was in his Prison Clothes in the Video he was thanking Gowon for releasing him

During that period Nigeria was running a military government the first of it kind after the coup , ironsi was the first military head of state , he appointed 4 military governors to head the 4 regions, western region, northern region Midwest Region and eastern region, ojukwu was the governor of eastern Region, when ironsi was killed, ogundipe was next in line to become head of state but he chickened out even when ojukwu encourage him to take power he ojukwu will recognize him as head of state, he didn't and Gowon a junior officer took power, ojukwu did not recognize Gowon , ojukwu and Gowon never communicated during this period, ojukwu was in total control of the Eastern Region
Ojukwu surely recognised Gowon. He was just too bittered that his student becomes the head of state ahead of him. He has right to be aggrieved by the discrepancies though, but Gowon was recognised as the head of state across the country till the point where ojukwu declared Biafra.

Ojukwu was not operating a state within a state until he declared Biafra. Hope you get now.

Die this argument, it is making you look absurd. I see that you are intelligent but there is no way to argue against facts on ground. There are publications, videos and articles to this effect. There is no way u can argue against it with guessing or word of mouth.

*How Azikiwe, an Ibo, deposed the grandfather of the new Olu Erejuwa III, who was re-instated by Awolowo, a Yoruba:*

The newly crowned Olu of Warri, Ogiame Erejuwa III, reversed the curse of his grandfather, the Ogiame Erejuwa II.

In 1963, Ogiame Erejuwa II, had taken the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Mid-West Government to court over the inclusion of Itsekiri in the newly created Mid-West region.

Ogiame Erejuwa II told the court that the Itsekiri Kingdom is part of the Yoruba nation and should have remained as part of the Western region and not included in the Mid-West region.

He argued emphatically that the Itsekiri people would like to be a part of the Western region and backed the Action Group led by Awolowo and rejected the NCNC led by Nnamdi Azikiwe who controlled the Mid-West.

Angrily, NCNC leader Nnamdi Azikiwe deposed Ogiame Erejuwa II and deported him to Ogbesse. The king then put a curse on all the Itsekiri who supported Ibo to bring the Itsekiri kingdom into disrepute. Okotie Eboh, an Itsekiri who supported the Ibo to depose the Itsekiri King would later be assassinated by the Ibo soldiers involved in the January 1966 military coup.

In 1966, Awolowo was set free by Yakubu Gowon and named the Federal Minister of Finance and the de facto Vice President of Nigeria. The first thing he did was to reinstate Ogiame Erejuwa II as the Olu of Warri. But Ogiame Erejuwa did not revoke the curse. His grandson, Ogiame Erejuwa III, has just removed the curse on the Itsekiri people.

The Itsekiri Kingdom is one of the twenty-six Yoruba tribes.

The Itsekiri is the most useless set of people ever.

These people know they are originally from Ijebu and are the only people (other than the Fulani vermin) that are claiming ownership of the land they settled on citing a fraudulent bill of sale by one Urhobo wayo man.

This is the only thing they have to claim Warri even though the Urhobo wayo man that they claimed sold the land to them or allowed them to settle on it had no bearing towards granting anyone right of occupancy in any part of Warri especially the coastal fringes which were part of Ijaw land.

Which president? There was no president , ironsi was the most senior military officer when he became head of state in January 17 , he made ojukwu governor of eastern region on the 19 January,
when ironsi was killed the next in line was not Gowon but babafemi ogundipe Gowon took power and ojukwu never recognized him, Gowon took power in August 1 1966 it took him more than 3 weeks to organize himself cause he himself was afraid of being killed, ojukwu released awolowo from prison in August 3 , Gowon couldn't even organize himself in Lagos for 3 weeks, him and ojukwu never spoke during this time, how did he release awolowo who was under ojukwu without speaking to ojukwu? Who did Gowon call to release awolowo? Even to visit awolowo people needed permission to visit awolowo in prison, how did Gowon release him? Through who? Gowon never stepped a foot in eastern Region during that time, igbos were still been killed during that time, there was no northern soldier in the East , the east was completely under the authority of ojukwu who did not recognize Gowon as head of state
nobody has the right to choose who to recognize as president or not. As far the supreme military council swear you in ,then everybody must obey. Mr Man, nobody gives ojukwu the rights to choose either to recognize Gowon or not.
Btw. What do you have to say about Awo confession that he was released by Gowon, or what do you have to say about many writers that told the whole world that Awo was released by Gowon? The newspaper report is above for you to read.

Before the British granted independence all the 3 Regions agreed to have Referendums for their individual ethnic Minorities
including the East . It was one of the Conditions on Which independence was granted .

Azikiwe, Balewa, Bello and Awolowo were all part of that agreement

Azikiwe was Part of Balewa’s Government but he somehow forgot push for or to hold the referendum for the Eastern Minorities at the Same time that Balewa and Bello also deliberately forgot to hold the Northern Referendum for Kwara and the Middle belt

But they insisted on the Midwest referendum after jailing Awolowo

Thanks for this.

Even that Judas goat, Reno Omokri was correct when he said Itsekiris are originally from Ijebu,

By changing the migratory history of the Itsekiris you want to claim a land that was never yours and to demean your superiors in Ijebu land as your lessers.

This is why nobody likes you in Warri. You idiots can lie for Africa.

Mr Comprehension skills, what has Awolowo in 1966 got do with Olu who was disposed in 1963? Azikiwe was not the premier of midwestern region and could not have disposed Olu of Warri in 1963. Only in the mind of goons that a minister of finance can reinstate a disposed Olu of Warri.

It's glaring clear that you have problem of assimilation.

Go back and read the article again carefully to know the year Awolowo reinstated him

Idiko1:

By 1963, Awolowo was languishing in Nigerian prison in Calabar. How did Awolowo reinstate a goon who took federal government to court 1963. Awolowo's political wings in national politics were clipped in 1962 when fellow Yoruba peeps did a political number on him. Any traditional ruler who chose to dabble in politics has always been hit hard politically.

Igbos are the most dumbest humans on earth. Let me ask you a simple question, if Ojukwu released Awolowo as you claimed, how come Gowon invited the same person-Awolowo to his government? How come Awolowo who was released by Ojukwu was able to become Finance Minister under the same government that kept him in prison?

Read this and stop listen to those rubbish you Igbos listen to on the East to console yourselves. Below is the truth! Ojukwu didn’t release Awolowo cos he lacked power to do so. Common sense should have told you Igbos that if Ojukwu releases Awolowo against the wish of FG then, Awolowo would have been throw back to prison.

Did you listen to the Olu coronation speech? When whatever the issue was, he ran to Benin and met with Oba Akenzua II and they both placed the curse. It’s very unlikely that Oba Akenzua II will join Ogiame Erejuwa II to place a curse in Nigeria over a mid western state he actively participated in its actualization.
I don’t know what happened (would research) but I’m damn sure it wasn’t issues surrounding midwest state

By 1959/60 Nnamdi Azikiwe was already the Governor General of Nigeria so it’s likely he was in the federal government…. His role was largely ceremonial sha so I don’t think he even had the power to dethrone anybody.
Or in a military rule, a civilian would have the power to enthrone anybody

NCNC and NPC formed an alliance. Azikwe achieved it with the help of power from the center. Reason why a Delta-Igbo man, Dennis Osadebe was made the Regional prime minister of mid-west. His aim was simply to reduce the voting power of the west..He also made sure Kwara and the Okuns in Kogi were ceded to the North
