We're waiting for the details of what led to his imprisonment.

You try shiit with Abacha, he gives shiit back to you. Ask yoloba who wanted to kill him - they'll never forget the no- nonsense general who dealt with them wela.

The same "threat to national security" is still used to oppress Nigerians even today in our 'democracy'.

What has changed?

For instigating a crowd to behead an igbo man in kano

Not for national security

Liars want to rewrite history

Abacha had already jailed him for that and besides Jonathan didn't know the the extent and extant of the powers he bore ....Is this not the same Jonathan that was giving Tinubu contract and licenses everywhere ? Was it not to hide Sanusi skeleton that they quickly made him Emir and when they were done they found a way to remove the radical ...

Where do you think the Pant bomber was radicalised ? He was radicalised right in his father's house , the same house that brought Sanusi to FBN ...

The way you people spin stories on this site it’s only nollywood you can work. Fake news

He was on stake instead of beheaded? Weird how the story keeps changing.

Abacha knew one secret that every Muslim head of state across the middle East knew.

That Allah could not give justice. That it was he (Abacha) that was justice.
So he killed others to show how powerful he was. He wanted to kill Sanusi but because he was the heir to the Kano emirate he was spared.

Go back to history you'll see that the military head in Arab countries allowed Christianity to flourish because they knew they were the only one in power... Not Allah.

I was expecting this shiit. After the general had passed on peacefully at home, yoloba papers fabricated the prostitute rubbish. May God rest his soul, the man Abacha.

The south needs to learn from the north, and stop pulling themselves down!

We should learn to drop sentiments and tribalism. Abacha locked up many Southerners as were who are not ex-convicts now. Example is Tell editor, Nosa Igiebor

Southerners have PhD in pulling down one another
At my work place it was a northerner who appointed me to my current position, after he left another northerner came and consolidated me on that same position and made me what I've become
Now I have a fellow Southerner as my boss and suddenly there is a powerful conspiracy to unseat me by fellow Southerners
Fellow Southerners pulled down Oshomole from the position of national chairman of the APC. It's fellow Southerners who are desperately trying to pull down Secondons from his position as PDP national chairman
We are wonderful at pulling down one another

Spot on. What is going on now with Bandits and Boko Haram is what Sanusi and his gang wanted to do in the north. The military of the 90s are no nonesence and you trust abacha; no parallel power. They were crushed well and quickly. Not the nonesence this government is doing.
Ayemileto:
sad

Lol. For what reasons were you imprisoned sir?

From what I have read before, he was one of the leaders of a group that killed one or more non Muslims during that period.

From the story, the others were killed, he was spared and imprisoned instead because he's from a royal family and people begged for him. shocked

Well, even former Senator Shehu Sani was jailed by Abacha back then, didn't stop him from becoming a senator. Obasanjo the same. Political prisoners would get a pass.

I remember the rumour that he was responsible for beheading Gideon Akaluka.

Akaluka was beheaded because they accused his wife used pages of Qur'an to wipe the child's buttocks (very likely untrue)

Sanusi is an idiot and a blabbermouth. He just proved those rumours right.

So many braindead, moronic Muslim idiots roaming the north. Education has no effect on them (one needs a brain in the first place for education to take effect). They are part of the reason Nigeria will never work.

How does a head get on a stake if not after being beheaded?

Have you been inside a classroom before?

Reread the sentence clown he said his body was placed on a stake not head. The story on his murder didn't mention his head being placed on a stake hence the story changed again in the last 26 years.

People do know Sanusi went to jail but they believe it was for a murder of some igbo trader. Strangely enough some also believe this wouldn't be used against him despite battles with Abacha, Jonathan and Ganduje. Seriously someone should tell conspiracy kooks murder doesn't have a statute of limitations.
Igbos traders were murdered in which year?
And in that year where was Sumusi Lamido
