You don't make your reality about hybrid vehicles my own reality. I have mine, you have yours. If hybrid cars are as demonized as you paint, they won't be taxis worldwide. Make your research. Majority of Nigerians are emotional about things like these but I'm not the majority. I have had positive experiences with hybrid cars, including the one I mentioned earlier of my friend and his highlander hybrid of 7 years. We bought that car together in Cotonou. It is convenient for you to try to displace my own positive experiences with your negative ones, which were of course, caused by a lack of due diligence by your car owner friends. It doesn't work that way.

A hybrid vehicle, like other vehicles uses components that have a lifespan. Due diligence entails that you find out the history of what you're about paying for as you also cannot condemn a particular brand of non hybrid vehicle because it gave your friends problems.

I asked for advice here before venturing into this hustle, I got little information. However, I did not want to be idle just after completing my masters and waiting for my statement of result.

I took the bold step and moved from enugu to Abuja to start bolt while looking for a job. This is my first week on bolt and it was quite good. Thanks to the advice of CheerfulGiverr and the likes. I also did 15k offline and I used 30k fuel. I work from 7am to 2pm and 4pm to 8-9pm

Or if it is repaired (which I doubt, how much does it cost and how long will it last)
I Know people buy and change faulty cells out of the whole pack but that's still luck as spare-part dealers will not dismantle a new pack and be selling individual cells, most times it's still out of a bad pack they will be searching for good cells which are already 90 or 95% out of service life.

I am glad u mentioned lifespan of car components, before u say what I am saying is a lie, let me ask you, what is the average lifespan of a Toyota/Honda Hybrid battery pack? My answer to that question is 8yrs...10yrs depending on usage. So u see...only people that r lucky to get the car brand new or partially used enjoy it, not we in Nigeria who get those cars after 10 or 15yrs of use.

These are realities and facts anything outside this is hope or wish. If u are hoping or wishing u will get one that is good that will last for u that's fine.

Toyota official correspondence says 80k to 150k miles. And if u know batteries, they aren't just about mileage but age too...so even if it doesn't do mileage the years of use also impacts it.

He said it's only the few people I know that it's happening to, I just don't like arguments.
The said Camry we used like 8k plus little fuel inside to ugheli, I was very sure the battery was working because it was switching from time to time.
That got me thinking, if there's difference, after all.
Normal Camry 2.4 can as well do the said journey with same amount of fuel.
The worst part is that the car is grounded as we speak.

Caveat is if the hybrid batteries are working optimally.
And that isn't the case in >80% of the time when using or buying a Tokunbo Hybrid car. Talkless of naija used.
Except you are planning to buy brand new car
Or
u r going to invest in changing the complete battery cells. Budget 500k to 1m for that and that's for used not even brand new cells.
I know two people who bought and disposed off a Hybrid car in the space of 2months of purchase cos it wasn't what they thought as batteries were bad and replacement was expensive.
