If he wants more money, he won't sign a new contract. It is easier to get a hefty salary and sign on fee if the club signing you gets you on a free transfer. That's why Lewandoski got tens of millions of euros as sign on fee to join Bayern because it was a free transfer. Free transfers benefit the player because a significant portion of the transfer fee that would have been paid goes to the player. Mbappe can realistically get sixty million euros as sign on fee plus sheikhs will no longer control his future.
