They don't want the news of their atrocities to get out of Zamfara, abeg Zamfara people make una make videos, recordings of happenings after the suspension make una share, the whole world must hear of the atrocities of this failed govt. At a time when telcos should be one of the he most important tool in tracking down these terrorist and their sponsors they are been asked to suspend services, who is fooling who.

This is not he best approach. They know where the bandits leave. People give them money, foodstuffs, motorbikes etc. A lot of people have been kidnapped and released. By now, the security agents should have enough intel about the terrorists hideouts and operations. Shutting down communication networks will impose economic hardship on the people and further put thier lives in greater danger as criminals and bandits can now operate freely without fear of someone calling the security agents for help.

While this is going on;
Emergency lines should be activated.
Designated centers should be provided for people to go and make urgent calls.
Otherwise, we may witness another Afghanistan-like humanitarian crisis in Zamfara within the next two weeks.

Bandits kill four, abduct several others in Zamfara

Four people have been killed by bandits who invaded Ruwan Doruwa district in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.



The bandits who also abducted several others, invaded the town in the early hours of Friday September 3. Eyewitnesses said they started shooting sporadically, forcing many residents to flee for their safety.



A source told Channels Television that the gunmen killed four persons and embarked on house-to-house search for abduction. Funeral prayers of those killed, have been conducted.

How clueless could a government be? Telecommunication services that should have been the backbone of tracing and curbing criminal activities, is now shut down.

Zamfara has been reseted to 18th century. Soon the whole of Nigeria will follow. May God help us.

I wonder. They asked us to do the NIN, we sheepishly obeyed. Claiming that it will wipe out 95% of terrorism and banditry. Now they want to switch off the whole network. So the whole system of agency banking is going to be paralyzed for two weeks. Tech people and remote staffs are going to be cut off from their source for the next two weeks. Nobody can call their doctor for emergency medical assistance. You cannot link up with your HMO. I wonder if they think about the multiplier effects before taking such drastic decision.
And funny enough, the terrorists may have a satellite phone like thuraya for seamless communication, so the whole purpose is defeated.
