No... That's where you see cultist and criminals of northern extraction, they rob people in broad day light with reckless abandon,... I must commend the governor for taking such a bold step in the right direction

As a Rivers Man I don't think this is our problem rather Ikwerre people's problem because they see this administration as an opportunity to conquer all land like the Fooolanis.

You don't need to demolish a market because of hoodlums,if that is the case it mean that all the markets in Rivers State will be demolished because their are hoodlums everywhere.

After the commissioning of Mile 1 market it's still under lock and key till today.

We have to chase away the invader by any means necessary. I know the Ikwerre are overbearing but they are the necessary evil.

In rivers 99% of cultism, robbery , rape and crime generally is by those tribes
Can you send links or statistics to prove this your assertion or its bear parlour gist.
I won't be surprised if you're from one of these minority tribes who feel intimidated by larger tribes and decide to give them bad names to mask their inferiority complex, no worries, take your medication you'll be fine.

brother you are an insider, no need saying what you already know, he can't use the military against the north because nobody is going to implement the order. If it were to be the igbos there ,the military action would have been effective, if you know you know.
Exactly my point, several advise and opinion was put on the table as regards that market.
1. Hold a meeting with the two factions, give them 60-90 days ultimatum to resolve their internal issues (the internal crisis and lock down), also contributed to the increase in crime.
2. If unresolved, dissolve the two factions and appoint a those you wish to manage the place under the LGA
3. The presence of the army will definitely reduce the criminal activities no matter the connection with tribe.

why not arrest the hoodlums and take them to where they belong, instead of demolishing properties.

Why not have the hoodlums residing there arrested and allowe those using the market for business continue? Sometimes I wonder if Nigerian leaders have brains at all, so what Wike is saying is that any market in Rivers State he suspects hoodlum activity will be demolished.

I see Wike becoming politically irrelevant after 2023.

This I have seen.

But the governor is using the same military that receive order from Abuja to deal with obigbo but cannot station the same military in that market area at least for 6-12 months to reduce amd stamo out the criminal activities.

Sentiment apart, this is one best decision Wike ever took. My house isn't very far from that market. So many atrocity are committed at that slaughter axis by supposedly people from the north. It might interest you to know that underneath the two bridges at slaughter lies many shanties being occupied by people of northern extraction.

The moment it is 8PM at night I always develop anxiety passing through that axis. Meanwhile, it might interest you to know that my phone and wallet has been forcefully taken from me from me at the said slaughter by criminals.

Beside, if the recently renovated zoo is to attract the much needed visitors, it is important that the slaughter market gives way. The said demolition will give confidence to would be visitors to the zoo of their security and safety when it resumes operation in a months time The said slaughter market is an eye sore that is defacing the aesthetic of that axis.

The abastroes of the Hausa community in that market was to have been laying claim to the ownership of the market. How can they opined that the land was sold to them by the Federal ministry of Agriculture. Even challenging the authority of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Authority to exert control over the market. They forgot all land belong to the state under the Land Use Act.

I'm not a fan of Wike but I support this particular action of his.

Not from Rivers State but have lived in Rivers State for over 25 years and still visit there regularly, its only the blind and biased that will say that Wike has not developed and moved the city from a village city. Some say he is focused on ikwerre land. But I cringe and wonder why same argument is not made for national capitals across the world, state capitals in Nigeria, Lagos and Abuja etx being more developed than other capitals........

You might not like him and I do not quite like his personality but I cannot say in all honesty that Wike is a bad governor. If you don't like Wike, take Okezie Ikpezu. The guy in my view and based on what I have seen has done as much as Amaechi if not much more

Please guys give the guy some credit. He has done well. And some will say at what cost.....the answer is he could still have taken the money and do little or nothing.

This is not correct. I have always struggles with why that market is there. A total mess. Imagine the mess and the reputation it gives the state .......being near international companies with a lot of expatriates....... Schlumberger, halliburton, Baker Hughes, coca cola ...all close to that mess and smelly zone.

Let celebrate the governor's will to get things like this done. Although he may have acquired it for himslef. Still in my view better than having that market there.

The next thing Wike government need to do is clean up the state. It's dirty. He is building a lot of roads but not cleaning them. He needs to employ people to sweep the road

Wike cannot annexed the property to himself. Is mere conjecture. Wike knows the implication of commandeering that property to himself. Even if he imposes a successor, there is the likelihood that a governor will come that will reclaim the land.

Okorocha never envisaged that his wife's property built on government land will be taken from him one day. It will be foolhardy of Wike to convert that land to his personal property. And I know he won't. The same way Odili never annexed Rainbow town to his personal property in the aftermath of the demolition, same way Wike lacks the locus standi to do same.

For me it is a well come development that place a hideout for criminals and cultist. People experience passing through that place has been hell. Morning they will robber their victims, afternoon same and in the evening is even worst. They killed a woman some weeks back because they stole from the woman and she said they should go and look for work to do. They even steal from people in the presence of police, police go just they watch you. They stab somebody driving with her motor glass down because they wanted her phone. They also went there to harsh somebody that when there to purchase chicken and wanted to stab him but he gave the money he has and there where free. Some of this same Hausa/Fulani when and broke into Total E&P to steal and Wike chase them. One of my colleague was almost killed at that same Slaughter but God saved him and he ran away. Even the flyover at Garrison that was just built this same people has started to cut off some of this cable. Let him do more. If you are not a victim you just come to Social Media to talk nonsense.

This is huge, slaughter has been a breeding ground for pollution , traffic and criminality for years. The last part not too much tbh cause it looks grimey but dudes are just trying to hustle for their bread.

People saying ikwere agenda don't end live there or know the place. This is welcomed especially for the environment
