Beliefs are born of choices hence the reason I continue to state that a belief is a choice made. You are free to believe as you want or choose though. undecided
I never made my brain something that is able to resist what you are saying

My brain is just like that

My brain is not a choice

The way my brain works is not a choice

So you think the God all religions talk about is false and the real God can't be known?
No God can exist

First, the way my brain works, like I told Kobojunkie is not a choice

There's no definition of God that shows how any God can exist

LordReed talked about exploring the universe

Well, I consider the universe as just another group of ageless indivisible objects or another group of ageless indivisible things that are not abstract.

The universe is just another thing that shows existence

I consider existence as the property of something to possess limits
Since there's no limit to what possesses limits ,then existence has no limit
Existence has no beginning
Existence has no end
Existence is abstract
Existence is being shown by things that are not confined

I am able to resist what you are saying as something to believe
I don't choose not to believe or to believe otherwise
I just resist or I am just overwhelmed by the opposite of what you are saying
That resistance, what is it? undecided
Re: A Very False Christian Belief About The Afterlife. by Nobody: 8:48pm On Sep 04, 2021
Kobojunkie:
That resistance, what is it? undecided
It is the ability of my brain to resist what you are saying as something to believe

I didn't give my brain that ability.

My brain is just like that

It just works like that

The way my brain works is not a choice

You mean your mind, right? undecided

I think I kind of understand where you are coming from. For many of my years myself, I couldn't understand how people could get themselves to believe, and invest time and effort in basically anything... it was like my mind was built with a default setting of "cynical" and "depressed" for the longest time and I had no clue how to change the setting - I was always uncomfortable and yearning for better but never really knowing to achieve it, this without first needing to feign interest in whatever it was first. undecided

You asked me earlier why I believe in Jesus Christ. Recall my answer to you was that He made sense when nothing else did. That was because I decided that I would use the choice engine available to me to process things rather than wallow in cynicism achieving nothing and living miserable for it too. undecided

disclaimer: I found out I could employ other settings after getting treatment for mental illness....I had to train my mind on how to make better choices.

Many many years later, Jesus Christ was a choice that made sense to me and so I chose Him over the alternative. undecided

I am now dealing with the matters of the mind which show the matters that concern the brain

Your mind was not able to resist Jesus Christ as someone in which to have faith.

You consider Jesus as a choice that makes sense because you believe in Jesus as a choice that makes sense

You did not choose to believe in Jesus as a choice that makes sense

You just believe in Jesus as a choice that makes sense

Your brain was actually overwhelmed by the concept of Jesus

If your brain remains overwhelmed by the concept of Jesus as a choice that makes sense, you will keep saying Jesus is a choice that makes sense

But my brain is not overwhelmed by that.

Since your brain is overwhelmed, you can't expect your faith to disappear.

But none of what you have here makes sense to me since it differs completely from my experience and what I have revealed of my journey towards this faith I now have. So what exactly do you expect to do with this belief of yours? undecided

You are not being sincere

You said Jesus is a choice that makes sense to you.

Now, you are saying another thing

The issue is that we don't agree on the nature of beliefs

You keep repeating that you choose

But I resist what you are saying about beliefs while you keep repeating it like it's going to work on me

I can't be overwhelmed because my brain can't be overwhelmed

You never chose to believe anything

Your story is wrong!

I know there are many people like you that say beliefs are choices but I don't give a damn!!!

According to you, anything I say is what I choose to believe

But that's your cup of wine

If you are not insincere here, then you are confused

All you keep saying is I choose to believe

I keep resisting

Can't you see it's a matter of not getting overwhelmed ?

Your resistance is your choice...just as submission is a choice, so also is resistance. undecided

If you don't get it, it's OK to let it go... a choice too. undecided

I actually understand your struggle very well since not too long ago, I too was where still are. And I understand quite well the meaninglessness of these engagements as none of this ever changed anything for me back then. I ofcourse didn't spend time harassing theists since It was all meaningless to me back then. undecided

It wasn't until after I got on treatment that I realized it was possible to gain control of my mind and mental rather than letter the neurotransmitters in my head decide my state and mood. undecided

Declare it impossible only after you you made an effort to change it, not before. undecided

Note: not trying to get you to believe in God but trying to get you to begin flexing your brain and mind muscles even more than you have been able to up until now. undecided

What did it for me was going in for treatment got mental and neurological problems I had been battling with since childhood - they got progressively worse with age than point the brain could not longer handle the processing stress.. undecided

It is you that was depressed not me

I have thought about suicide but I never saw it as necessary

Unlike you, I have thought about so many things including sanity, insanity, psychology, life, death, etc

I never saw anything as worth my mind for long periods.

Your opinions of me seem formed based on nothing you even truly know of me except the little I have revealed here and there on here. undecided

Anyways, the mind is w wonderful decision making machine. You give it inputs and out comes decisions and judgements which control our every interaction with our environment. The choice is yours to make. Even our emotional responses are based on choices made in our minds both consciously and otherwise. Even our dreams are generated in similar manner... undecided

You still have mental issues

Everyone has mental issues

But my issues are different from yours

According to your issues, I have to keep flexing my brain

According to my issues, you have to stop talking about my mind because it won't help to change my mind.

I can't change my mind concerning what I never chose

Your brain was never working like my own.

I made it clear earlier that all brains and minds are unique but they all work exactly the same - they process input to yield output. undecided

So, this has nothing to do with your mental issues or my mental issues but the fact that every brain works the same way. So, you either engage it or you allow it control you as you will. Your choice. undecided
