Adamawa Government has announced the closure of 30 boarding junior secondary schools in the state out of the 34 junior schools over insecurity.

The closure, according to a statement by the commissioner of education and human capital development, Mrs. Wilbina Jackson, is to take effect from September 6, 2021 till further notice.

The statement seen by our reporter said the move was a proactive measure to ensure the safety of students in view of the insecurity bedevilling the country.

The State government’s action came amidst escalating banditry in the country, resulting in the kidnap of hundreds of school children across many states.

The four schools that will not be affected by the closure are the Government Girls Junior Secondary School, Yola; General Murtala Mohammed College, Yola; Special School Jada; and Special School, Mubi.

“The Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, wishes to announce that 30 boarding junior secondary schools out of the 34 schools in the state, have been de-boarded with effect from 6th September, 2021. From now henceforth, all the 30 government junior secondary schools are now day schools.

”The remaining four that are not affected are Government Girls Junior Secondary School Yola, General Murtala Mohammed College Yola, Special School Jada and Special School Mubi.

“This becomes necessary due to the present incessant security challenges faced by the country and owing to students’ tender age, hence the need for them to study under the care of their parents.

”All students from the affected schools are to be placed in the nearest public junior secondary schools within their catchment or domicile areas. Stakeholders, PTA, ANCOPS and others are to ensure compliance with this government policy,” the statement said.

Whoever is in this government sponsoring terrorism will never know peace.

My farm on Ibadan/ijebu road has been abandoned for the past year for fear of being kidnapped.

Do northerners realized the terrible state they currently are in?

Those of us who still care can only pray and hope.

Why are you trying so hard to give this government a bad name? There is peace in adamawa State. The students are only going for mid term break.

In other news,it's been more than a month since they submitted the report on the tailor. Are they sweeping it under the carpet?
Its just 514 days left to may 29, 2023, the tailor must face justice.

I see Bandits taking over all the northern states of Nigeria just like Afghanistan. I see northerners running to south for safety. I see Nigeria being finally divided into Oduduwa republic, Niger Delta republic and Biafra.

We are just buying time to witness the doomsday

And somebody will still say Afghanistan is worse, mtcheew!.

Let me say again, men, be thinking about the militia groups to join, just in case you can't escape by travelling out of Nigeria, when the war comes knocking at your doorstep..

Well, I already have mine in mind...

Only 34 boarding secondary schools in Adamawa State. That’s grossly inadequate for the whole state. Onitsha Archdiocese alone in metropolitan Onitsha has more boarding schools than the whole Adamawa State.

Antoeni:

Nothing like "waken up" there, if they(bandits) can no longer get them in schools, they go to their homes. If not farms, then it is highway..

The best bet is to permit everyone to arm themselves, that's all..

The Texas government has legalized weapons for its citizens, that's exactly what we need here..

Bandits/herdsmen/armed robbers/cultists and their likes target you easily because they know you're unarmed..

Imagine everybody with guns of different brands travelling. Do you think bandits or others would dare? Not at all!!.

Banditary is the only reason Boko Haram keep surrendering to military because they can easily swift to it as the government keep pampering them while the bandits keep making money. They have succeeded and achieved more than Boko Haram in the last one year under the same goal and ideology. "Book haram"
