Whatever happens, Wike is a F**king Hero, It's amazing how all this time, all the Lawyers never bothered to check if the fed govt even have the legal backing to set the rate and collect VAT and all the other illegal taxes.

I'm telling you with this nobody will bother with Abuja anymore. The money from Oil they are sharing is peanuts in a $500b economy, States will start to make progress!!! Think about all the VAT collected, the illegal witholding taxes, collected on state govt contracts, illegal education taxes etc

Now we are entering true Federalism and competition because each state can set it's own VAT level as incentive to attract business and people.

For instance, States with sea ports can set lower VAT to attract traffic away from lagos to their ports, which is good for lagos because Lagos will be less congested.

Actually, it was a relatively unknown private law firm in Port Harcourt, Ukala & Co. that first took FIRS to court over the VAT issue when FIRS slammed huge VAT liabilities on them. When they won the case sometimes around June this year, that was when Wike saw that he could ride on the Ukala judgement to challenge FIRS statewide. So while Wike can still be considered a hero, he had some precedence to help him out here. The private firm is the bigger hero for starting the chain of events!

But the same Supreme Court gave Bayelsa to PDP. You didn't mention that.

Lagos has previously taken this matter to the State High Court and Court of Appeal, only for the SC to upturn it because it wasn't decided at the Federal High Court. Now, Rivers has taken it to the Federal High Court and the entire North is in disarray.
