The North and some states in the East will oppose the new VAT Ruling. After Vat collection by state the next should be decentralization of the Army and the police.
How can you decentralise the military? What load of poo is this?
Resource control is enough, calling for a decentralized military is same as calling for dividing the country

And the funny thing is that about half of the Lagos IGR is being provided by SEners, and about 70% of Rivers state IGR is being provided by SEners also.

Proper economic planning and the installation of seaports at Oseakwa in Anambra and Obuaku in Abia, will quadruple the IGR of the SE states.

Adding Igbo areas in the SS stretching from Obigbo, to Opobo and Ubani, to Ogwashiuku to the SE will further help the Igbo economy.

Igbos will automatically be bestowed with the title of states with the largest IGRs

Simply put, South East doing tax their people.

Lies!

No eastern state will oppose the ruling.
This is simply northern propaganda. Just like they tried to gang up against anti-grazing law.
They are trying to gang up against what is clearly written in the constitution.

They will fail!
Southern states must double down and insist on the constitution.
Actually on this occasion, the narrative that Eastern states (they primarily have Igbos on their mind) would oppose the ruling is being driven by some superior-feeling Yoruba and not the north! smiley

I think yoruba nation will favour us more. We are going to make more money by taxing foreigners who are doing businesses or owning properties.
I wish Awo had fought for independence of yoruba nation. I wish he had supported Biafra course.
May god bless you dear. I have taken time to preach this to my people but the hatred they harbor on the Igbos is making them blind.

Had we taken the opportunity of the war to pursue our our own nation Yoruba nation would have been the envy of the world today. We have all it takes to prosper, the intellectual, the port, the agricultural land, the mineral deposits, everything but greedy men like tinubu will rather sacrifice our youths for his insatiable quest for power.

Forget that last data compiled as allusion that some Eastern states will go against the VAT. For one, I know it's because they are not collecting their VAT directly that's why they are at the bottom of the wrung, watchout for the next charts when they start collecting and see major reorganization and realignments that will even shake the position of Kano and Kaduna.

Is it that the States is very effective at tax collection or they really have some sound businesses being run in the state.

Below is how Lagos get her revenue:

PAYE (45%):
Pay As You Earn (PAYE) is a form of personal income tax that refers to tax deducted directly from the wages and salaries of employees operating in the formal sector.

Other Taxes (19.27%):
These include various taxe such as levies on market traders, land registration and other landrelated fees, as well as development levies on individuals, pool betting/lottery/gaming fees and stamp duties on individuals.

Direct Assessment (2.39%):
Direct assessment relates to those taxes imposed on businesses, especially (informal) by the State authorities, based on the size of their activities.

Road Tax (2.48%):
Road taxes are daily levies paid by commercial transporters operating within Lagos.

Based on the above:
You should apologize ASAP for giving ridiculous statistics about the your tiny landlocked poor states that can’t even match up to Kaduna. Stop meddling into things you don't understand. The Igbo 2by 2 shops are not what is generating tax for the Lagos government. What the Banks, Insurance, Mega-corporations, Dangote, and etc. generates alone for Lagos is more than what those 2by2 shops will generate for 500 years!

This is why I dislike seeing you people in my state (Edo state) you guys are always tribalistic irritating, spread false under bridge data as facts the. Start bragging.

Make sure you leave the southsouth out of your rubbish analysis.

The only reason Lagos has the highest igr is because you people cunningly move all the oil company head offices to Lagos so they pay taxes there .

You steal resources meant for us in the Niger Delta and make stupid noise

Very irritating people
Last time I checked I never talked about our included Edo state in my comment. Your opinion is largely irrelevant to the conversation at hand....run along.

How many states in the top 9 has a seaport? Shey Kaduna and Kano get seaport ni?

Bro see SE states are poor because most of your well-to-do don’t find it liveable. Even if you build 1000 seaports it won’t still increase her fortunes because you need the purchasing power to buy those markets.

If cocaine traffickers are paying taxes now it would have increased the IGR for those states. But if Shinedu carry cocaine, he will run to his village to build mansion, live in Malaysia or Lagos, then when he gets caught, his village mansion remain abandoned.

Read how economy function and what drives it and equate it to the SE and you’ll understand why they will continue to output low IGRs.

Stop deluding yourself about seaports, no be only the SE no get seaport. Ogun, Kaduna, Oyo, Kano, and etc self no get one seaport and yet they trashed all your states!

The highlighted point is enough for a State like Anambra and Abia State, you may not agree with me but interns of transportation and markets their is no state apart from Lagos that can match them, so if both state can develop a better tax collection structure, they can even surpass the 19.27% you mentioned.

The problem with South East State is, they don't pay tax and the government is not serious about tax, truth be told there is high level of economic activities in South East, cash flow in these states are very high.

Nwokem, stop parading your foolishness for all to see.

Igbos are obviously huge employers in Lagos, from the various markets, super markets and blue-chip companies, car dealerships, film industry e.t.c.
so Igbos account for more than their fair share of the PAYE contribution.

Now taxes on levies and market traders, land registration e.t.c are heavily paid by Igbos in Lagos, and you know that.

Igbos are not also doing too badly in terms of road taxes.

So all the stuff you showed have huge Igbo representation. You have only just helped me in confirming the 50% IGR Igbos contribute to Lagos.

That is what marginalisation of Igbos has brought. There is no noticeable federal presence in Igboland, as you have in Lagos, Abuja and Kano.

Oseakwa and Obuaku seaports will help increase the economic prospects of Igboland, but all the non-Igbo presidents of Nigeria, have a made it their number one policy, to frustrate initiatives, geared towards uplifting the Igbo economic prospects.

That is why some Igbos are clamouring for a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction, so that these amenities could be put in place in Igboland to lift the economic life there. Some are clamouring for Biafra for the same reason, as they are tired of the perennial marginalisation that has gone on, for many decades now.

The Tax that Dangote company will pay is more than the whole SE combined. Dangote company employed more staff than the whole SE not to talk about other Northerners with huge investments as well. I disagree with states collecting the whole money, it should be shared in percentages, the more you collect the more your share. A city like Lagos, Rivers, Kaduna, Kano, Oyo etc is built by all Nigerians, different tribes have huge investments in these cities.
Now, you know that Kano was built by all Nigerians? Why then were you destroying alcoholic beverages belonging to other Nigerians?
You Northerners have been unfair to other Nigerians and your cup is now full.
