It is time for all governors to put on their thinking caps. Pull investors with the right incentives to your states, after, any company that feels it can not produce in your state should consume what it produces or will pay for selling its produce in your states. Lagos has the population but check if it can consume all produced in Lagos. The truth is that out of greed and laziness of some of the rich in the North, the North keeps consuming most of the goods produced in the south and shipped down North, the Southerners get the jobs and more money flow in their region but the North just consumes with no strings attached in the name of One nation. Visit the markets and you will see that apart from Farm produce, more than 90 percent of the things consumed are either made in Lagos, Ogun or Anambra. Let every company be ready to open a branch office where his consumers are. The North will be foolish to continue to consume goods that are made in Lagos with the jobs going to Lagosians, the cash flow n Lagos and the VAT also going to the Lagos state government. |

I’m not wasting my time on this report cause its coming from PDP newspaper, PDP lawyers and most in support are secessionists. Why comment on a thread that favors them. These are facts!! |

FIRS running to NASS to include VAT in that exclusive list, shows how despirate and fraudulent they are.. . At this point most items on that exclusive list should be given to States. . . There are so many functions in there, that FG shouldn't perform at the first place |

Ibkhaleel01:Instead of expressing emotion, why not look at the long term effects? Federal government collections of vat does not encourage hard work and innovative development which have been lacking in our political system. Let give more attention to the advantages rather than disadvantages. A lot of state governor's have been lazy with the hope of federal allocation coming in every months. When we finally adopt this system a lot of state governors will wake up to their responsibilities and start making demands and development will be entrenched in our society. On the issue of Lagos been capable, believe me, when this system is established, a lot companies that operate in other states with their headquarters in Lagos, no governor will allow any company to operate in his state while having your head office in Lagos. I believe this system will help the country to achieve a greater height. Wike have only 1year and some months to leave office so i don't think this is a bad idea, mind you i am from a state that generate the least IGR. |

Ballmer:In reality, with little money to share, Boko Haramism and Banditry will reduce drastically. In the First Republic, when every Region was feeding itself, there was no agitations from groups like these demanding to be paid for killing people and destroying properties. If we are practicing true Federalism, all these groups will fizzle out. The Billions of dollars that have been spent fighting Boko Haram since 2009 is enough to build a brand new country from the scratch. |

Ibkhaleel01:The person you quoted made sense of the issues, but you rather want to blackmail “citizens of these states.” Why not allow states test their viability? Not all states in SE and SW can generate what Lagos, Rivers is generating, but they are not complaining, how come only Northerners are complaining? |

Ibkhaleel01:It's your right to wail. But the party is over mahn! You better channel your energy towards your governors and charge them to sit up! The north which has since Independence been the most favoured by the contraption called Nigeria, both politically and economically, remains painfully the most backward region, should make educated ones like you very angry, you should become an activist and voice for the teeming northern poor population. But I know you would never do that because it's Haram to demand for accountability from your leaders. The party is over mahn! Let every state work out their karma Happy wailing! |

Goldencheese:you're very correct...almost like the states are just money bags that the FG can dip hands into and leave with little or nothing left for the States to manage with. I think this move by the states would surely lead to the true federalism we've all been yearning for. |

Ibkhaleel01:I ask again, why cry more than the bereaved? Kano and Kaduna generate more VAT, they should instead support the call. We down south that generates less VAT, we aren’t complaining, why complain for us? |

What the FG can do as pay back to the governors that will favor the masses is engineering the senators to strip governors off their immunity. That will be a win win for citizens...we need total accountability from our fufu head leaders. |

Ibkhaleel01:Oga, shut the hell up. In what part of the world is paying taxes so scary, that we should accept the substandard and deplorable living conditions the current Nigerian system have imposed on us. If every business worth less than 25 million is to pay tax, so be it. By the time every dick and Harry pays tax, let us see who would be ready to collect #1,000 to sell their votes again. |

Ibkhaleel01:You are unmistakably the ENEMY, because you want the "monkey dey work, baboon dey chop" status quo to remain. Why? Because your regional elites are bleeding the nation, building innumerable mansions home and abroad, stashing cash in foreign banks. While you and them neglect the poor masses, giving them no or quality education, leading to almajiri fuelled insurgency. The only farming economy you contributed to the nation has now been destroyed by your bandits, whose formation can be traced to your people abject poverty caused by your regional leaders' aggrandizement. We the Southern people believe in our ability to put our own leaders under proper control if given the chance to manage our own governmental affairs. Our own Southern leaders fear the populace, because we are highly educated and very critical of their actions, unlike your people who have been put under the noose of Islamic religious fanaticism. The VAT issue is just the beginning of our restructuring and separatist wars, so be ready to write more propagandist treatise as the exciting wars progress. There is more failure sure regional propaganda jobs ahead of you. So sorry. |
