blackpanda:Are you telling me that Oyo, Osun, Imo, Enugu, and Abia do not generate anything? Then let it be so. By the time the feeding bottle is taken away from them, they will be forced to generate something for their own needs. |

I live and work in the United States(Texas) to be specific. This country is endowed with abundant natural, economic and human resources. Every State has something to beckon on. Never has it been heard that the Feds under any guise or form muzzle states to balk or accede to the demands of the executive arm of government at the center. Every State manages its resources and pay a certain percentage to the central (Fed govt). Texas for instance has large hydrocarbon reserves. The federal government does not coerce or pressure such state to go against the dictate of the constitution. By nature every state must not be as wealthy as the other. But there are always things each of the State can fall back on. Let every State develop whatever resource it has. Being a governor is all about leadership. This arrangement in the longest term will allow the subject to chose their leaders base on merit and experience, not religious, ethnic or political leanings. This VAT issue will truly expose the types of leaders we have as governors. The North governors and some southern are very backward and lazy. This has to stop now. As a detribalized Nigerian , I truly laud govs Wike and Sanwo-Olu. They are the true champions of true and Fiscal federalism. The North must sit up and understand that repression and terrorism will only lead them to self - destruction. Any governor who can not think outside the box has no business being there. The merry days are almost over. They all must work and show proof of competency. |

....Even Lagos will suffer with much more people migrating there. When resources are shared among Federating Units, it is shallow to always think it is injustice. Give Lagos 100% of it's VAT, Mukaila from Sokoto, Chinedu from Aba and even Lasisi from Osun will all migrate there. So what is the point again?... ....the point is Mukaila will pay his tax, Chinedu will pay his tax, and Lasisi will also pay his tax.... Ibkhaleel01: |

Ibkhaleel01:I believe every state has enough population to get enough VAT....It's just for the State to increase their tax net by providing enabling environment for business to thrive and ensure people pay Tax. Most State governors are just lazy. |

Ibkhaleel01:This is very unintelligent of you! Nigeria is not running on true Federalism. I would prefer an interstate migration than a braindrain to western nations due to the ineptitude and low intelligentsia of our politicians. |

We must compete equally to make any meaningful development. The north must look inward to salvage itself.Amnesty for killer bandits/repentant BH terrorists should come from their own IGRs. |

Ibkhaleel01:Why are you so pained bros. The FG and the state governors including all political leaders are thieves. But let the right thing be done. If it is state that ought to collect, then let it be so. If na FG, then let them collect. The rule of law must rain |

blackpanda:If this trend is sustained, aspirations to become governors will no longer belong to people who only come to chop and fatten their tummies. Creative people, intelligent people, people with economic and development sagacity will throw their hats in the ring and the development we think will be endangered will be achieved. Every state in Nigeria has the potential to become an economic wonder. But when every month, all the Chief Executives do is queue up to pick their monthly allowee from the centre, why would they become creative to generate the needed funds for their development and growth? This happening is good for Nigeria and stirs us in the right direction which is restructuring of this lop-sided union. |

Vile scorn for individuals will burn-through you. We see the undeniable in the exceptionally comical VAT fight that is occurring. I just dey notice. Many upheld Governor Wike's choice to gather VAT since they say "the North contributes nothing and they need to gather". However, on the off chance that they know their realities they will comprehend that they are burrowing an opening for themselves. They will acknowledge we all will endure when States gather VAT. Most importantly, after Lagos, the following spot that contributes the most noteworthy VAT (20%) is the FCT which is in the North. Indeed this is trailed by Rivers at 6% yet Kano is next with 5% and this is trailed by Kaduna. So no, it isn't as you have been misguided. The main unique case is Lagos. So your State will endure. Indeed, even Lagos will endure with substantially more individuals relocating there. At the point when assets are divided between Federating Units, it is shallow to consistently think it is foul play. Give Lagos 100% of it's VAT, Mukaila from Sokoto, Chinedu from Aba and even Lasisi from Osun will all move there. https://autonexa.com/top-bike-batteries-in-india-2020/ |

Goldencheese:Mr man everything is not VAT, every part of the country has their advantage. The north being the most populated in human resources has her advantage. Lagos was former capital of Nigeria hence those infrastructures that they still use to enhance businesses vis-a-vis IGR collection. The Atlantic ocean belongs to entire country, why do I pay for clearance of my goods in Lagos ports when the owner of the goods that transact the business is in Kano? |

Goldencheese:It's like u aren't even thinking at all. On the contrary all thieves and looters will fight to be governor, since they now control all the assets of the state. People will suffer immensely because even the state houses of assembly are in governor's pocket. Who will question the governor?? |

Ibkhaleel01:only you write three long pages just to express your pains from this development, the thing pain una sha, so you think because you are writing from your one room apartment from katsina you are more versed about VAT than a governor of a state? Keep deceiving yourself and your ilks, keep crying, all I can do is send you handkerchief, weather the governors will squander the money shouldn't be your headache all the states are asking for is to give them what rightfully belongs to them, let the southern governors collect their vat themselves then you can advocate for the federal govt to continue collecting that of north, if at all an average northerner doesn't have a mind of his own, either they are being controlled by the few big men in their society and running after them shouting yakandede with a plate at hand or they are being controlled by the tenets of their religion through their imam, you can't force your retrogressive thinking and attitude on southerners and did I hear you say Abuja is a norther state?
As long as each states utilize the VAT for the development and progress on their people. As long as it won't end in the foreign accounts of politicians in the states. We've talked about ranching many times here. This is how things are done in saner climes. Miyetti Allah need to give the good ones among their members all the re-orientation that things can be done the way it is done in civilized nations. The ONLY constant thing in life is CHANGE. The bill was not meant to attack anybody, but that it was all-embracing. Land resources were very important to the state, adding that the relationship between cattle herders and farmers should be symbiotic. A better Nigeria all around is all we want. God bless Adamawa State. God bless Nigeria. Our stand @ on everything related to this VAT issue below..... Thanks for your submission, but I beg to differ. 1. States have been collecting PAYE, and the sky did not fall. Nobody complained of double taxation. 2. If people migrate to Lagos on the account of increased revenue, that means more VAT for Lagos State. VAT are ultimately paid by consumers. 3. We must appreciate the fact that Nigeria is a federal State. The fear that governors will waste the resources should not make us not do the right thing. Like other countries where federalism is practiced, let us unbundled the center. Let's strengthen the state, then we can demand Accountability from the states governor. Until then, let me go and buy kose and bread . Ibkhaleel01: |

Who even wants to know how much have been sunk in the endless Hydra headed terror in the north? It's mind boggling! These guys are just pissing all over, feeling funky! I can't wait to see how this VAT drama pans out. . Femi and Garuba and Malami are yet to speak too. Tis from the trio you know the opinion of the clueless one. I can now go back and finish reading. |

Ibkhaleel01:You have some points here, but I think its high time we practice what is truly obtainable in saner clime as regards to true federalism. Enough of all these propaganda and parasitic relationship. If Nigeria practices true fiscal federalism, crime, banditry, Boko haram in the North will disappear overnight because Elders and State Governors within the region will sit up think out of the box economically and not play politics with human lives with a kid glove. |

Goldencheese:You are correct on all your points. The days of free money for states in Nigeria is getting to a close. State governor that encourages banditary by failing to provide education and jobs for it's youth will suffer alone. Lagos state, Rivers state etc have paid their dues. Let these hard working state use it's IGR to develop their people. Lagos state, Bayelsa and some of the coastal state are facing environmental threat. They need their VAT collected revenue to fix these natural Atlantic ocean threat |

You guys always reason everything based on tribalism. There are only 5syates actually contributing to vat. 2 of them are in the north.
