You people really believe Nigerian statistics?
If you do then shame on you, you don't use your brain.
If we are to go with Nigerian statistics, the states that should have been complaining is SE states but somehow, those the statistics favour, ie those that are population and financial hubs of the country are chewing their tongue.
What does that mean? Those statistics have been wrong all these while.
You think Ebonyi is broke?
Why is the Governor not complaining?
This VAT is exposing the fraud in Nigeria.

Rubbish talk. No more blackmail of viable States like Lagos and others doing the right thing. States that are not viable should merge with others. Simple.

It is time to drop our arrogance and recognize our dire situation. Only Nigerians I know who will throw lavish Party while school fees and house rent are pending.

Many States should not have been created from other States. They have always been unfeasible vanity project to sate the wasteful ego and megalomania of Nigerians. Every Nigerian would demand their own Island if anyone is foolish enough to indulge them accordingly.

From now on, everything should get smaller and leaner to reduce waste and maximise efficiency/productivity.

Merging of States should begin. Cut Senators number by a third i.e one Senator per State instead of three.

Reduce the number of Federal Reps by at least 70%.

Merging of government departments and office etc.

Massive support of SMEs (small to medium enterprise) so they can be the main employer of labour in Nigeria, as obtains worldwide, instead of the aberration of our nation where the biggest work force in many States are civil servants reliant on government pay to survive.

Same to be implemented at State level. Time we stopped making politics and government money the main business in town.

States must adapt or die. As simple as that. We have endured with the feeding bottle approach too long and it has only brought us to this point where our nation is on the verge of collapse. Time to make sacrifices, that cannot be put off for even a day longer, for a brighter future for generations unborn.

There is no negotiation, Every state should fend for itself. grin grin
DubaiLandLord:
FIRS should just renogotiate with the major states. For example, Lagos State, FCT, Rivers and the rest of the states can keep 50-60% of what she generates, why the rest of the 40% will be shared among the 36 stayed and the FCT equally.

There can be a timeline, It can be till 2030. Between 2021 and 2030, the rest of the states go don dey work hard, towards creating a conducive environment for business to be establish in each State.

This will be a win win situation for the states and FG.

Never. I am not in support.
The states should decide how they spend what they made. This will make the other governors work and prove why their states should exist or risk being absorbed by other states that want to.
This is like an exam for the state government.
This is exactly what their work is not leaching on other states

No negotiation, pls. States like River and Lagos need more money for infrastructural development because of pressure on environment due to over population.
Let each state government looks inward and be proactive in generating revenue.

Lol

By the time most states in the North and South can't pay salaries, I hope you won't
be one of the people screaming to the FG, for them(FG) to bail them(Unviable states) out.

I'm also in support of States keeping 100% of there VATs. But, it shouldn't be done in such a hasty way.

For the majority of the residents of these 30 states it’s a case of “he that is on the ground needs fear no fall. They will be like of what benefit is the vat to us anyway except that it’s enriching some fractions of politicians .

let such state collapse and merge or return to its mother state where it was carve out from.

the creation of state was for Nigeria to be manageable but the reverse is now our case. mind you those that created many states did for the reasons we are experiencing today (divide and rule). a system where we won't see ourselves as one.

I know states like Rivers and Lagos needs more money because of their massive population.

That's why I said they will keep 50%-60% of the VATs. They will even partake in the 40% that will be shared equally among the states and FCT.

Then the states shouldn't have existed in the first place.
One thing for sure if this VAT work will be reassessment of the Vat statistics. Then you will realise that most states are empty because the statistics will now come from the state directly.

If some state can't survive, let them be splited into different zones and be added to other state that can survive. By implication what it means is that they were not qualified to be a state in the first place but because of of religious cum social affiliation they were made a state.
