Without getting towards the technical side of things, here is a simple explanation:

Bank verification number (BVN) and National Identification number (NIN) are not the same.

BVN as the name surgest is for those that are operating bank account(s). Don't forget that many people do not have a bank account.

Are you telling me that, in this present age people still do not operate banks? How possible? Are you saying that if FG request people use their BVN to register Sims, they won't go get one? What about National ID? You people are not sincere with the whole charade....simple!!!

The picture on the NIN and the jamb picture side by side

I still stand firmly in my opinion that every sane country should capture it's citizens (NIN in our case). It's a way of differentiating between the Wolfs and sheep. And also a way of determining good sheep's from Bad ones.

Europe and other fast growing countries wouldn't be where there are today if anyone can just stroll in and out randomly without data capture.

Don't misinterprete me as someone supporting evil. I know this country has it's up and down (mostly down). But that doesn't mean we should condem even good developments.

Not everyone has a bank account...das fact.

There are lots of tyrants in government. But a sane government cannot force everyone to open a bank account against their wish.

I disagree. You are not getting it. Register your SIM with your BVN or National ID or Voter's Card. Simple!!!

Imagine someone registering for this SHIT and after more than 1month, u'll go to use the shit NIN to perform one or 2 legal transactions, they'll now be telling u Ur NIN is not valid. Forcing people to do multiple registrations is mere wastage of time and resources. NIN alone is enough to cover for all forms of verification and identification including bank verification and voting.
just ask people to submit their nin to their banks simple, instead of coming up with bvn. during election, submit your nin at a polling Unit of your choice. for passport submit ur nin, confirm it with fingerprint and get ur passport.
