Who recommended that Did you ask the previous owner the oil he uses to service the car? Did you use the right quantity? Is the filter the right one for the car? I can see that the gallon is 5L, did you put all of it? |

engrfaruq:yes, he put all of it. The mechanic, the previoud owner is badly sick and i cud not get info from him at d moment. Hoping to get it if he did not die |

Hallenjay:This is what I infer from the whole scenario: 1. You used the wrong Engine Oil, not what the maker recommended, because I can see it's 5W20; 2. You flooded the engine with the oil, above the required volume needed, which should be at most 4 and 1/2 litres; 3. These anomalies could have affected the health of your engine, given that you embarked on a journey immediately after the service; 4. I advise you immediately take the car to a renowned service centre, especially those located inside filling stations. You change both the filter, and the oil, and don't forget to use the oil that the previous owner uses, and if that's not possible, kindly be using Mobil 2000 semi-synthetic. Hallenjay:Two things happended with the 5W20 you used. 1. It's viscosity is low, so it's not recommended for use in got wheatear areas like Nigeria, cos once the oil gets hot, it will be too light and cannot lubricate the engine. 2. You even used more than the required quantity, so the engine compartment was quite chaotic, because there was light oil and plenty of it for that matter. |

engrfaruq:.. Car owners should do their research and read owners manual The correct oil for that 2010 corolla is 5w20 or 0w20 ... .. Either oil weight will give best protection under extreme heat ........ If you buy quality oil the additives will lubricate the engine well enough under extreme temperatures... The chart below illustrates that.... Simple as 1, 2, 3 Nigerian Temperature falls under that chat....... 1. I will agree with u 1000% that too much oil was put inside the engine.. From the looks of things it seems the mechanic empty out the whole 5liter of oil.. Corolla engine are small and that engine should take no more than 3liters at most....maybe 2.5liters .. Too much engine oil can cause damage to the oil........ The best bet like u said is for the guy to empty out the oil and have someone that knows what they are doing to properly gauge the oil Modify and point of correction. Oil capacity is listed below on the chart.. Corolla takes about 4.1liters...

dru23:0W20 was indicated on my car but I use 5W30, and I encounter no issue at all. 0W20 is quite light for our wheatear, my candid opinion. |

engrfaruq:Plz look at the chart below and see what temperature Nigeria weather falls under....... Good quality oil will do well under extreme tempt

Hallenjay:Not a good sound.. looks like the car might have sludge |
| Re: MY TOYOTA Corrola Give Strange Sound After Servicing Up Till This Moment by engrfaruq(m): 12:39pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
dru23:I cam see the positive axis stopping at 100°F, but here in Nigeria, my car records up to 105°F. I believe it's safer to use oil with higher viscosity, as indicate in the last sentence of the chart you posted up there. |

Hallenjay:Are you sure there's oil in that car, cos that noise sounds like engine parts crushing against each other unlubricated. Stop using that car immediately till the problem is solved, cos that engine costs about 500k. |
| Re: MY TOYOTA Corrola Give Strange Sound After Servicing Up Till This Moment by Grupo(m): 1:39pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
Hallenjay:Wow. This is truly scary! If I were you, I would have drained the oil immediately I heard the sound for the first time. 1. I think the previous owner of that car was using 20W 50 oil for an extended period. But wasn't changing the oil regularly, hence sludge built up inside the engine. 2. You now poured synthetic oil into the engine which washed off all the built up sludge, causing engine components to grind against each other. Check if the car is smoking. 3. It's likely the oil you bought is fake. If I were you, I'd drain the oil immediately and pour Mobil 20W 50 into the car and observe. That sound appears like there is no oil at all inside the engine. Remember, all I have just said are mere conjectures. I really wish you luck because that engine sounds like it's gone. |

engrfaruq:Kindly compare the two charts and tempt range.. The 5w20 has the same tempt range on the chart as the 5w30. So in that case should we move up to 5w40 or 5w50 ........... If u keeping moving up to higher viscosity u end up damaging ur oil pump and engine ... The oil will be too thick to circulate enough at the beginning of engine start up ..... Engine damage usually occurs at start up ......... engine oil has improve over the years with advance technology ...... Car owners should try and follow manufacture advice all the time .... When these oil were been formulated the engineers factor in highest tempt to coldest tempt that those oil can operate in ..... Let us be guided so as not to lead the public astray of their earn hard money..... The engineer and manufacture know best....... Ps .. You stated that your car sometimes records up to 105 F outside tempt It has hard to believe and if it is so how frequently those that occurred to justify using higher weight oil

From my little experience, 5w20 yes but fully synthetic? I don't think so bro. I don't think you need a fully synthetic oil for your car. Just the normal 5w20 is ok. How genuine is the oil filter used too? |
| Re: MY TOYOTA Corrola Give Strange Sound After Servicing Up Till This Moment by Grupo(m): 2:00pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
doublex10:Why doesn't he need fully synthetic oil? |
| Re: MY TOYOTA Corrola Give Strange Sound After Servicing Up Till This Moment by dru23(m): 2:03pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
Grupo:Better to go fully synthetic for better engine protection......i always go fully synthetic on all my cars........ |
| Re: MY TOYOTA Corrola Give Strange Sound After Servicing Up Till This Moment by Grupo(m): 2:07pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
dru23:Full synthetic oil doesn't offer full engine protection? Hmm. I'm hearing that for the first time. |
| Re: MY TOYOTA Corrola Give Strange Sound After Servicing Up Till This Moment by dru23(m): 2:11pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
Grupo:I meant it is better to go fully synthetic .......regardless what the guy is saying...... |
| Re: MY TOYOTA Corrola Give Strange Sound After Servicing Up Till This Moment by dru23(m): 2:19pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
Grupo:You are assessment is on point ..... COROLLA are 1 of the most abuse cars especially when bought naija used.. There is these mentality that since it is a Toyota the car can take abuse and you don't need much maintenance and thereby neglecting basic maintenance.. This is why people buy Toyota........ |

Grupo:no smoke, not even with cold start but that noise is der. But u have some lights der whc d owner says it's not bad...ABS, CHECK ENGINE, master warming. Scanned and the issues were engine cam shaft, 02 sensor |
