Nobody is talking about North or South you guys should try and read things in the context it was made, what I am saying is that why was it cited in his home state, was the decision to take the facility there a collective one borne out of genuine reasons or just a unilateral imposition these are the issues not North or South. This is to avoid the situation where projects are just carried out in a location solely because Oga is from there, the CDS may decide to setup a "Rainforest" warfare training centre in his village for the Armed forces and if asked why that was so he will now say are there rainforests in the north? Instead of given us reasons why that decision was taking and what goal it tends to achieve. E.g All of us know the idea of building a Tucano base in Niger state makes alot of sense because of proximity to area of operations in the Northeast/Northwest axis; it will look awkward to build such a base in Lagos or Bayelsa.
I think it won't be a bad idea if we cultivate the habit of asking questions/demanding for accountability from public office holders when certain issues arise.
oga do you know that it is not only the CNS that take desicion Before a base or any institution is been created? it will take the permission of the minister of defence and the CDS. inorder for fair justice he took base to both imo and lagos . but i actually understand your point

"I don't really know how bases work or the intention it's been set up."

But I feel it's really wrong for military officers to just set up a base that is a sitting duck for our soldiers, there by sacrificing our young men.

All of us knows that in Zamfara, Katsina and Niger, bandits moves in swarms of abt 500-1500 armed men. So therefore is at all the military wants to set up a base in those areas, they should have fortified the base in such a way that 2000 armed bandits can't overrun, other wise they are just risking the lives of our young men.

If you want to travel from Lagos to Borno in your private car, it's foolishness to buy one gallon of fuel and hope that it will take you there.

To understand why the tucano is in kanji you will need to understand the unit based there & why that particular unit is the home unit of the tucano.

Kainji is home to the 407 Air Combat Training Group.

The Tucano is first & foremost a a training aircraft.

The following are the combat corps in Nigerian Army
1. Infantry
2. Armour
3. Artillery
4. Engineer
5. Signal

All the aforementioned corps be it officer or soldier, they are war lords, Engineer corps are more involved in deep battle.
Sometimes at the front, when jungle matures, the engineer will provide a temporary bridge, in order to maneuver the enemy or when the enemy has cut off the bridge.

Please erase the erroneous misconception that engineer are limited to workshop.
We've seen the odd bits of engineers building pontoon bridges, roads and all but they're seemingly underutilised in key areas.

By now, there should be a template for bases/FOBs to enable soldiers 'live, fight and move' in hostile environments.

As much as those MRAPS and offensive pieces often bought, we see very little instances of engineering hardware bought or ever considered.

All I need to cause panic and loss of cohesion in such bases are long range weapons that will allow me hit the camps and put me out of range of most of their riffles. Surround such a base from multiple sides and you will just be laughing at what you would achieve.

This is small forward operating base with IMO , l don’t think with more than 100 combatants or thereabouts.

I would call this supposed military forward / defensive camp layout ABSOLUTELY SHAMBOLIC and essentially a suicide camp.

You are literally sitting ducks

No elevation
No Spatial awareness
No Core defensive points
No Perimeter restrictions
No Primary and Alternate battle positions

You could literally go on and on

You would be better off with 10 armoured vehicles preferably fighting vehicles , with a mobile defense strategy.

UAE puts six Nigerians with ties to Boko Haram on terrorist list
By Dennis Erezi
14 September 2021 | 11:06 am

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Monday named six Nigerians with ties to insurgent group Boko Haram as terrorist financiers.

The UAE Cabinet on Monday issued Resolution No 83 of 2021, designating a total of 38 individuals and 15 entities on its approved list of persons and organisations supporting Boko Haram and other terrorist cause.

Nigerians on the UAE’s terrorism list were Abdurrahaman Ado Musa, Salihu Yusuf Adamu, Bashir Ali Yusuf, Muhammed Ibrahim Isa, Ibrahim Ali Alhassan and Surajo Abubakar Muhammad.

The six persons have been previously tried and sentenced in UAE.

Other foreign nationals in the list are Ahmed Mohammed Abdulla Mohammed Alshaiba Alnuaimi (UAE), Mohamed Saqer Yousif Saqer Al Zaabi (UAE), Hamad Mohammed Rahmah Humaid Alshamsi (UAE), Saeed Naser Saeed Naser Alteneiji (UAE), Hassan Hussain Tabaja (Lebanon), Adham Hussain Tabaja (Lebanon), Mohammed Ahmed Musaed Saeed (Yemen), Hayder Habeeb Ali (Iraq), Basim Yousuf Hussein Alshaghanbi (Iraq), Sharif Ahmed Sharif Ba Alawi (Yemen).

Others are Manoj Sabharwal Om Prakash (India), Rashed Saleh Saleh Al Jarmouzi (Yemen), Naif Nasser Saleh Aljarmouzi (Yemen), Zubiullah Abdul Qahir Durani (Afghanistan), Suliman Saleh Salem Aboulan (Yemen), Adel Ahmed Salem Obaid Ali Badrah (Yemen), Ali Nasser Alaseeri (Saudi Arabia), Fadhl Saleh Salem Altayabi (Yemen), Ashur Omar Ashur Obaidoon (Yemen), Hazem Mohsen Farhan + Hazem Mohsen Al Farhan (Syria), Mehdi Azizollah Kiasati (Iran), Farshad Jafar Hakemzadeh (Iran), Seyyed Reza Mohmmad Ghasemi (Iran), Mohsen Hassan Kargarhodjat Abadi (Iran), Ibrahim Mahmood Ahmed Mohammed (Iran), Osama Housen Dughaem (Syria), Alaa Khanfurah – Alaa Abdulrazzaq Ali Khanfurah – Alaa Alkhanfurah (Syria), Fadi Said Kamar (Great Britain), Walid Kamel Awad (Saint Kitts and Nevis), Khaled Walid Awad (Saint Kitts and Nevis), Imad Khallak Kantakdzhi (Russia) and Mouhammad Ayman Tayseer Rashid Marayat (Jordan).

UAE news agency reported that the resolution underscored the country’s commitment to target and dismantle networks that finance terrorism and its related activities.

The resolution demands that regulatory authorities monitor and identify any individuals or entities affiliated with or associated with any financial, commercial or technical relationship and take the necessary measures according to the laws in force in the country in less than 24 hours.

Six Nigerians jailed for Boko Haram funding
In April 2019, the Abu Dhabi federal court of appeal sentenced both Surajo Abubakar Muhammad and Saliuh Yusuf Adamu to life imprisonment followed by deportation.

Ibrahim Ali Alhassan, AbdurRahman Ado Musa, Bashir Ali Yusuf and Muhammad Ibrahim Isa, were each sentenced to 10 years in prison, and also followed by deportation.

The court found them guilty of setting up a Boko Haram cell in the UAE to raise funds and material assistance for the insurgents in Nigeria.

In December 2019, a UAE federal supreme court also turned down an appeal by the six Nigerians, upholding the ruling of the appeal court.

The Nigerians were said to have transferred up to $800,000 in favour of Boko Haram between 2015 and 2016.

Is Nigeria willing to name Boko Haram sponsors?
Boko Haram insurgency has killed over around 40,000 people with two million displaced, according to an AFP report.

A former assistant director of the Department of State Services, Nigeria’s secret police, Dennis Amachree, asserted that the U.S. had been positively disposed to supporting Nigeria, especially in the fight against terrorism, noting that the question was whether the Federal Government would embrace the current gesture.

“Are we ready to arrest and prosecute these sponsors when exposed? Are we simply going to lock them away as has been done in the past? These are the concerns and the Americans may lose interest if we don’t take it seriously,” Amachree said in a report.

Amachree’s assertion aligned with the claim of former Nigerian Navy Commodore Kunle Olawunmi who said the government knows the sponsors of Boko Haram.

Olawunmi said he had interrogated and found a high-ranking member of Buhari’s government culpable of involvement with Boko Haram in 2007/2008.

The former Navy commodore stated that the Nigerian government was not ready to fight insurgency because it had failed to prosecute the arrested 400 persons suspected to be sponsors of Boko Haram.

CAS ON OPERATIONAL VISIT TO GUSAU, CAUTIONS TROOPS TO BE FOCUSED AND VIGILANT

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) component of Operation Hadarin Daji have been charged to remain focused and vigilant as they make concerted efforts towards ridding the entire North West of bandits and other criminal elements. The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao stated this today, 14 September 2021, while on operational tour of Air Component under Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) in Zamfara State. According to the CAS, the current onslaught against bandits and their activities has continued to yield the expected outcome hence the need to remain focused disciplined and extra- vigilant until the security situation improves. According to the CAS, 'This is not the time for you to be complacent or assume that we have overcome the enemy. Rather times like this calls for utmost discipline, alertness and extra focus on the task ahead.' Air Marshal Amao went on to commend them for their gallantry, dedication to duty and resolve towards ensuring that the fight against banditry in the North west is brought to a conclusive end.

Earlier, the Joint Task Force Commander of OPHD who also doubles as the General Officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General UU Bassey, briefed the CAS on ongoing operations in Zamfara State and the entire North Western area. He informed the CAS that the operations have continued to yield the requisite results with bandits hideouts being destroyed and decimated. Maj Gen Bassey also thanked the CAS for ensuring that the Air Component as well as the NAF Special Forces are well trained and equipped for deployment to operational areas in the Region. According to Maj Gen Bassey, the renewed vigour exhibited by both Air and ground troops will no doubt be instrumental towards bringing the security situation in Zamfara State and environs to an end.

The CAS also took time to visit wounded airmen at the Federal Medical Centre and 207 Quick Response Group, Gusau where he assured them of NAF's commitment towards their medical attention and complete recovery.

It is important to note that the NAF Special Forces as well as its air element have continued to be key enablers and deciders in the fight against banditry in the North West. Indeed, in the last 2 months, several bandits have been neutralised through coordinated efforts between the air component, NAF Special Forces and other security elements in the theatre of operations. The joint operations, which is in its critical moments, has so far seen to the dislodging of key bandits' leaders and their followers as well as the destruction of their strongholds.

Hello who knows when the Nigerian armed forces would launch another operation in the south east??
It's long overdue since egwu eke. The Nigerian military should look into it. That soldiers that should be posted to the south east should comprise mostly of very wicked Hausa people soonest.

I don't understand what you mean by "very wicked Hausa people" these stereotypes is part of the thing causing alot of bad blood, and creates an atmosphere of seeing a certain people as evil that's why any small thing IPOB will blame Hausa/Fulani people even when most of the criminalities are carried out by them.
That's by the way sha, it will be even better the security agencies step aside let IPOB continue to toe the path of tactlessness, thoughtlessness & self destruction, gradually the people they say they're fighting for are now seeing IPOB for the nuisance they are; there is a certain limit to lawlessness an Igbo man can bear especially when it's starts affecting their businesses they will rise up and violently deal with those miscreants that are making life unbearable for everyone.
Never interrupt your enemies when they're making mistake we saw how MASSOB fissled out, IPOB is on the same route to extinction.

you don't need to understand what I mean. I just need it to be Hausa soldiers that are wicked. I know why I asked for this.
I live in Jos during the crisis a group of Christian boys were going to attack a Muslim community but they were stopped. There where like 5 soldiers 2 Christians and 3 Muslims. The two Christians came aside and talked to the Christian boys. They told them that they would not be able to allow them to cross over because of the Muslims in their group but then adviced them to take another route.

I want Hausa soldiers cuz I don't want their judgement to be clouded by sentiments because of shared culture or religion. Ipob just needs to be crushed.

Why does it matter where the base is located? that is the only concern of Bigots, you can't hide from your shadows.
Does the Navy require a Desert warfare training experience, Yes or NO, if yes, why does it matter its location? will it cost more in Kano & less in Rivers state? why is the location important to you, is my question, joblessness?

Desert warfare experience for what? If the Naval infantry or the NNSBS needs such experience, why not just meet the Nigerian Army for the necessary training, same way the USN Seals meets the US Army for their Jump School training? That will save cost considerably compared to opening an independent training facility.

There are facilities in Jaji, Naval school Kachia that can easily be used for these trainings at little or no cost to the Navy. The Tri-services even have units of their special forces training in Jaji, I understand what the other guy was saying when he was referring sentimental attachments in building military facilities these are legitimate concerns but sadly we like dismissing these issues by calling critics bigot.
