@Kokane (I have some spare time to type now)

I asked you that question expecting you will mention one or two names so we can analyze. The whole purpose is to let you know that scouting and identifying good players is not that easy especially when we cannot afford established ones.

Three interests have to be met, the buying team/coach need, the seller interest/player evaluation price and the player personal terms. A deal is only struck when all the 3 interests click. Reason you will hear rumour of a team after 100 players and at the end only 3 or 4 players will be signed.

Also some players are good but might not fit into a particular manager's style of play. While some players are like weather, today they are hot and tomorrow they are cold. Only players that have improved and have been tested over time can be termed established and right now, I don't know any well established player that will consider playing for Arsenal. imagine a player like Lukaku, he didn't perform at Chelsea when he 1st came, then went on loan spells at West Brom and Everton, before joining Man U, then went to Inter Milan and now back to Chelsea as an established CF... he definitely will not consider a team like Arsenal for now....until decline set in like we were being asked to buy a declining Coutinho.

I think we should appreciate what we have at the moment, not the best team, but we have one of the youngest talented team that given to a good coach should be competing for all available trophies in few years. Price aside, I cannot fault any of our transfer this season. Only 3 players I really want gone in the present Arsenal Squad: Uncle Kola, Brother Mari and Egbon Xhaka... The rest I believe can still fit in one way or the other depending on the opponent.

My wish right now is for Auba to find his mojo back, this guy was one of the best in Europe just few years ago and for Arteta to remember all the right lessons he learnt from Guardiola else we get a new manager and sign a new striker and I believe we will be fine.

As for me, while I wish, either by crook or luck or by any means possible we make top 6 this season, I have decided not to expect too much from this team under Arteta this season... But come next season either with Arteta getting it right or with a new coach, this team should conveniently be in the top with few more signings.
I stopped reading after your first line, “Scouting is not easy for someone paid to scout?” Really. If I’m consistently dropping subpar result with KPIs displayed in red for my employer and I tell them the job is not that easy while pocketing the pay cheque I’ll be fired the next day.
If my subordinate tries it with me, I’ll fire him same day, immediately.

So I should leave my job and focus on who Arsenal should scout when they have people being paid to do that.

Your analogy no follow.

hat trick?? .. I see u have a lot of hope 4 him bt coming to term with reality it is high time arsenal move on without auba. Jodera was talking about laca nt contributing to hold up plays nd doesnt position well. Auba is even worst. He always looks lost during matches . The only time he becomes active is wen he sees a me nd u with an empty post.

the earlier u guys swap d deadwood with coutinho, d better.
The thing is Auba guarantees goals, Laca doesn't. Laca na outside the box him dey effective, inside the box, it's as if he's hiding. Oya chances to bury nko, him go miss am.

Abeg, no arsenal fan would take laca over Auba for now abeg. At least we know once ball dey inside box, Auba fit shake net

Yeah, Twitter. There's a Matthew guy that give pinpoint details of what Arteta's tryna do over 90mins. grin

He also derives what opponents play and how Arteta reacts to them.

One thing is sure from his analysis:- Arteta doesn't adjust his tactics when the opponents are at advantage tactically And goalwise until last 5mins. Very stale and annoying.

He sticks to his plan when its not working and comes to give talk at postmatch press. Smh.

This means one thing

Even if we buy haaland, if that's how its always going to be, COyg go visit Championship.
Chai... I wish I was on Twitter but I'm not, I for follow the guy.

Arteta doesn't adjust his tactics while opponents are leading, this is one of the main reasons we've never won a game wen losing at half time under Arteta. It's painful and thank goodness someone have pointed to that

This your bolded funny sha grin grin grin
I burst out laff reading that. Which one be COYG go visit championship grin??

The fact is that if you have to bet on who will score between Auba and Laca, Auba will win all day. So that settles it. Any argument for Laca will be that he holds the ball up better. Who then, who that one help? grin

If Xhaka plays well for his country, it cancels out all the deficiencies you listed. If you attribute it to patriotism, it is unacceptable.

I do accept though that he isn't that classic midfielder, but we should look at other skills he possesses like good passing range, positional awareness, tactical flexibility etc.
it doesn't cancel it out. Like I said, his skillset doesn't gel with what arsenal needs. He can go to another club and shine and I won't bat an eyelid, same way I didn't do for giroud.
So we should make xhaka shine like the way he plays for Switzerland? As if Switzerland is one trophy winning nation. Lol.

He should go to Italy or Germany or any other club cos he's just at the wrong club thus both arsenal and himself are suffering because of it. And the worst part is that arsenal is the major casualty here.

1... His good passing range is just diagonal. From center to left or from center to right.
How many times have he picked a defence splitting pass from deep?? Most of the times I see Pepe runs being wasted.

2... Positional awareness is average.

3... Tactical flexibility. Why I won't doubt this, but we it's not as if he's a beast doing the tactical flexibility ish.

All his positive attributes are average coupled with his limitations being very very big. How can we build midfield around such a guy just because he plays well in national team? National team wey no dey reach semifinals for Euros or WC.

Nothing wey you wan bring Stan xhaka go dey acknowledged for here. The guy is "just there" and we need more than that.

just what i've been trying to tell u. If salah can do it haller can do it.
Haller is not suited to the EPL, the league is too fast for him. Fernando Morientes came to Liverpool and had same experience.
I started watching football in 1990 and was a footballer myself, I what I am saying, West Ham kept him for two good seasons hoping he will come good but he never did.

You can choose not to engage with spy due to your both footballing differences in understanding but that doesn't mean you should tell others not to do so too(directly or indirectly). If you notice self I always quote him especially during the “Defence wins you league last season so I do engage him but not on Xhaka case anymore.

lol... the "scouting and identifying good players is not that easy" part of my writeup was referring to layman like you and I, not professional Scouts who are paid to do the job. That is just to buttress the point that you were unable to give me few names of players that are better than what we have. Established players are the ones well known, but Arsenal cannot attract them now.

So we have little or no choice than to go for potential young talents we can find across Europe as we did. And Like Edu said, "in one year - five sets of new contracts, and five of them are under the age of 23 for the first team. Then, in this period, summer to summer, we signed 10 players and seven out of the 10 are under 23 as well." “and We had 21 players exit over the year,”

Now in as much as I am not happy with how we got so low here, we just made a lot changes, we have to give the team time to blend and develop like Edu asked...

“I want to see the team play together and then let’s judge the team when they play together. Then, after that, no problem. Judge us then. “I understand the situation we are in now is really tough. It’s not an excuse but let’s judge the team when they play together.”

So let's give them time to play together before we wear our Judge robe to determine if the "talents" they got us na pangolo or good prospect.

Igwe and Papilo scammed most Arsenal fans.

Viera has taken his preferred striker to Palace and he's already doing wonders. I recall he 'was linked' to the Emirates before. Watching Him build his own Arsenal. And if he finishes a point about Arteta, then thats enough to conclude who Viera really is as a coach!

You must know that Xhaka is not my type. Just that I chose today to be his advocate and if you see the post I made to ObaIgwe, I clearly stated it's for readers' interest.

That said, with what you have up there, I can still push the argument further. That's since you agree that he plays well for Switzerland and so the excuse of him not playing well for us doesn't hold. Also, that we build our game around him is because he is AVAILABLE, unlike someone like Partey who's almost always injured. When the desirable is not available, the available becomes desirable. Before Lokonga, we had very few options in that position.

What has killed the argument is that he has been here for long, long enough to make an impact, and so if he hasn't convinced us, then he is not good enough. This was raised by Oba and I surrendered.

Go twitter go see three generations of Arsenal fans. One even brought his grandson to the emirates to watch his own first game as a 4yr old. The boy don tok say he loves the club. Chai!! Imagine!

I wonder what he talks during halftime. Like does he point out the errors of his first half plan and how they should do it better(asif the opponent will present same tactic), or he gives new instructions or what cos i imagine how the dressing room looks like for the likes of Luiz, Auba and Laca(who have played under real legendary managers and tense UCL atmosphere before)

Kroenke recently said He gave Arteta the job cos he convinced him of what he plans for Arsenal. That one wey no sabi football. No wonder. The yeye sweet talk made the Man smile. Smh.

You don't read well, so I excuse you. People like you can hardly finish a book, but then claim to be learned.

If I engage you in any argument, you would hardly make a reasonable point. So how can I stop? I can even say the snow is black and pick up the argument with you and still win. Learn to be more articulate and then I can engage you intellectually.

He is actually Pep 2.0 without the moneybag. I would give him that.

Like, give Arteta 500m and he'd do something. But would still ruin things with overthinking. Plus it will be insulting that such was given him but not Wenger or Emery.

Emery would win EPL with 250-500m
