You show proof of VAT remittance or ask allow sensible Northerners of class and pedigree talk. We are tired of listening to Idiotic sons of paupers like yourself speak on behalf of the North.
Go and read who is liable for VAT in Nigeria first or shut up!

I noticed that many of Northern rural houses don't pay electricity bill, the town pay so little compared to the south.
Even Hausa clusters in the South does the same ,ijoora , Lagos and agege are typical example.
Double standard

SS may have been unknowingly financing BH and bandits activities.
No wonder there's so much money to pay bandits.

Op olodo...no VAT on selected basic food items. You must be a graduate without knowledge.

If you are knowledgeable, When you were charged in Portharcourt, you were supposed to know that they are doing the wrong thing in Rivers, while Borno doing the right thing.

The moderator that brought this to front page should be sacked.

I can see bandwagon comments too. Most just went to school, but zero knowledge clouded by tribalism and religion.
As you can see BASIC food items are exempted, raw food is exempted baba not cooked food in a fancy restaurant
Who is the olodo now?
Typical!!

This is totally false. How many places did you visit to draw this conclusion. You went to Hebron only and you come online and start talking rubbish.
Haba!!
I stay in Maiduguri and this is false
This is how you people peddle lies online, even the mods didn't do any proper findings and it is already rocking the front page.
Did you visit Today's super store
Their vat is included, it shows on the receipt VAT included
Did you visit City Star Restaurant, the VAT is paid separately there.

Not prepared food sold in VAT registered restaurants. The value add is what you pay for different than when you buy yam, garri or unprocesed beans.

My own the South should demand explanation for such. Our members of NASS imvestigate this. It is not impossible thst FZG workers up North do not pay taxes also.

So attached are two food receipts from restaurants in Maiduguri Borno state and Portharcourt Rivers state where I went to eat.

It clearly shows VAT are collected in Rivers, but not Borno and most other northern states. I have been to Adamawa, Yobe, Kebbi, Taraba, Bauchi and host of other northern states.

NOTE: I took the pics myself. First one is from Maiduguri, while the second is from portharcourt; and they re all from this month.

It is not this government as it did not start with the current one but it is how the North has been taking the rest of the other regions for a ride. It has been on for decades and many of us are just getting to find out because we now have internet. I have been maintaining that having the internet is the best thing that happened to us.

A vendor has 2 options as regards collection and remitting VAT.
Option 1: The vendor may choose shift the VAT burden to the customer. In this case the customer pays for VAT and it is disclosed on the customer's invoice.

Option 2: The Vendor bears the VAT burden. In this case, the VAT amount need not appear on the invoice.

it could either be because there isnt supposed to be VAT on food (usually in most countries foodstuff is VAT free) or they cant be bothered to charge VAT because they are happy with the VAT income from the south.

legally if you are charging VAT it has to be on the invoice, you dont have a choice whether or not to charge VAT. What you can do is to then show discount on the invoice if you are paying the vat yourself.
