Let states collect VAT it will be good for North. A lot of VAT that should be collected in Northern States are not collected because other southern states have collected it. If the product is not consumed in your state don't collect the tax. A lot of consumption is done in the North but the tax will be collected where the produce enters the country or where it is produced |

pinkyruledworld: You are very correct. Tony Nnadi brought out an old document that shows that the British designed the country in such a way that the South should be made subservient to illiterate/ignorant North so that through the illiterate/ignorant they can perpetually control everyone. |

But for you who went to sch, the screenshot you posted shows that although food is exempted from VAT, when it is sold in a restaurant, it is taxed. So whats you point? blamingthedevil: |

blamingthedevil: You are contradicting yourself. Basic food items are not charged VAT. But food items sold in restaurants hotels are excluded from this exemption.. (minus, minus means plus.) See person calling others illiterate. Finished food sold in bars, lounges, hotels and restaurant pay VAT in full. That is what the paragraph means. |

Op olodo...no VAT on selected basic food items. You must be a graduate without knowledge. If you are knowledgeable, When you were charged in Portharcourt, you were supposed to know that they are doing the wrong thing in Rivers, while Borno doing the right thing. . The moderator that brought this to front page should be sacked. I can see bandwagon comments too. Most just went to school, but zero knowledge clouded by tribalism and religion. You are not intelligent mister. You don’t even know the meaning of basic food items. Olodo. Read what you copied and posted. Information are all there but you failed to understand. It’s all in your post that basic food items EXCLUDES food sold in restaurants, hotels etc Stop embarrassing northerners

freegaza: So VAT doesn't put food on your table, please write a letter to your state government, tell them to stop taking VAT money gotten from the rest of us nah. Borno state makes 3.442b on VAT but receives 25.896billion - Robbing the south to pay the parasitic Northern Fulanis. 1 Like |

mfm04622:it is the same thing I am saying,as long as it is indicated on the receipt it means the goods and services you are paying for is part of the VAT being collected from the government. The issue here is the VAT is not indicated on the receipt in borno state because in every restaurant or mall in abuja I buy any commodity, value added tax is always indicated on the receipt. Even in restaurants in Benin city it is indicated on the receipts. |

I believe you're the one that need to educate yourself. If you read and understood the information you provided, you wouldn't have opened your mouth to embarrass yourself. It's clearly explained what basic food items is and what's not exempted. If you learn to argue level headedly instead of hastily trying to score a cheap point, you wouldn't be embarrassing yourself. blamingthedevil: |
Re: Why Is Borno State Not Paying VAT? (Photos) by dustydee: 9:22am On Sep 20, 2021 |
Trimjos:The fact that you went to a restaurant and you were not charged VAT does not mean that other businesses in the state do not pay VAT. I am 100% certain that not all businesses in Rivers pay VAT. Your topic, I believe, is to stir up sectional sentiments. It is indeed to the detriment of the state to not maximise VAT collection. You will have a point if Jevenik in PortHarcourt charges VAT while the same restaurant in Maiduguri does not. 1 Like |

freegaza:This is dull. Since you can provide receipts for all the restaurants in Maiduguri, why don't you show receipts for like five with VAT deductions on them and this thread will become useless and the OP shamed. Instead you're rabble-rousing and claiming the OP is a liar. Who cares whether you eat at Hebron everyday. It might be your life achievement but it means nothing to the topic of discussion. Find a life for yourself. Even if from the trashcan 1 Like |

freegaza: Maybe because you have nothing sensible to say. The op brought receipt from an eatery in Borno where vat collection was not done. You brought the exact same receipt which solidified the op's position then turn round to make an empty boast of an ability to produce receipts of all restaurants in Borno. May I ask if the topic of discussion is what eatery you ate at or how many restaurants you know in bokoland, or that Rivers complies fully with vat collection while your parasitic boko enclave does not? The logical summation is that you're a fool sir 1 Like |
