Family members, The Police, FBI and Rangers have been searching for the girl, who was travelling across the United States with her partner before being reported missing.

Her partner returned home without her and no one had heard from her in weeks.

Ms Petito, 22, of Blue Point, Long Island, was last seen on 24 August when she checked out of a Salt Lake City hotel with her partner of two and half years, Brian Laundrie, 23.

She was reported missing by her family on the evening of 11 September, said police.

Ms Petito and Mr Laundrie had been documenting their travel experiences as ‘Van-Lifers’ across the U.S. States on a YouTube channel called ‘Nomadic Statik’.

She would regularly FaceTime her mother, but her mother grew worried when she hadn’t heard from her for days and notified the authorities.

Last week, North Port Police in Florida revealed Mr Laundrie was a “person of interest” in the case.

They said Mr Laundrie had returned to Florida alone in the van on 1 September, 10 days before his girlfriend was reported missing.

On September 14, Mr Laundrie also went missing, although his family did not report his absence to the police for several days.

He was believed to have headed to Florida’s Carlton Reserve with just a backpack, and an intense manhunt was also begun for him in this area.

A search party of about 50 officers have gathered to search the Carlton Reserves for Brian Laundrie, the boyfriend of the missing 'van-life girl' Gabby Petito.

Officers combed the forest as the search began on Saturday, September 18.

Florida police have deployed ATVs and drones to a snake and alligator-infested swampland as they resumed their search for van-life woman Gabby Petito's boyfriend Brian Laundrie.

The FBI announced on Sunday that a body in a shallow grave, believed to be Petito's, was found on Sunday, but a full forensic identification is needed for confirmation.

A coroner in Wyoming has confirmed that a body found on Sunday is that of Gabby Petito, and that her death was a homicide.


Police continue the search for Brian Laundrie in High water all terrain vehicles in the Carlton Park area near the Venice in Florida on Tuesday.

The photo image provided to the police by a citizen, Bass, shows a man with a backpack as he is walking through the woods in the dark.

Sam Bass told police that he spotted a man who bore a resemblance to Brian Laundrie while he set up his deer camera in the wilderness in Baker, Florida.

The alleged sighting took place some 500 miles from Laundrie's North Port, Florida home.

North Port Police on Tuesday resumed a search for Laundrie at the Carlton Reserve, a swampy region where he is last believed to have visited before his disappearance last week.
