I don't trust the FG when it comes to supreme court A government that made someone that came fourth in the Primaries to become Governor can do anything. I don't trust that bag carrying Sharia CJN 1 Like 1 Share |

The Supreme Court cannot reverse itself.. When the Lagos State govt sued the FG at the Supreme Court over VAT, the Supreme Court threw out the case on technical ground that the case concerned revenue and should start from the Federal High Court. That was why Rivers State started the case in a Federal High Court.

fergie001: I wanted to argue vigorously but no need.the federal govt will even gain more from states collecting VAT on a second thought.the current fg share is 15% and fct alone generates 20%.at least 40% of vat is generated from the ports and airports under fg jurisdiction.so,in principle the fg will benefit.the losers will be firs and 31 states....so,the court can rule anyhow it feels like |

garfield1:The aim of this case is not for the FG to lose. The 'meat' of the matter is that States should benefit from their own VAT. FG will gain....States will also benefit from their sweat. |
Re: FG Mulls Taking Rivers, Lagos To Supreme Court Over VAT Collection by garfield1: 9:05pm On Sep 23, 2021 |
fergie001: Oga,in reality only 4 or 5 states are benefitting. One day,oil producing states will take fg to court also |

garfield1:Stop hammering on this thing.....Even your Gov has said he is looking inwards to boost his IGR. What is this 4 or 5 States you are talking about, others should work. The excuse is lame. So, you want a Gov to sit down, fold his legs and be collecting VAT abi? This issue is not about who wins or loses, but it is a Constitutional matter. 1 Like |

fergie001: Survival is more than a constitutional matter sir.it is about life and death.crs generates 2 bil from vat and gets over 20 bil.on its own,crs can never surpass 10 billion vat.so,I cannot support it.we have lost oil wells to aks,we cabt afford to lose another revenue source |

FG is taking them to people that are under their payroll. I laughed in Swahili. We already know who supreme court will favour. Everything in this country is just a scam. |

Do not be fooled by that terrorist northern leech, he was only referring to APC governors from the south west and PDP governors. All the crap he's written is still wailing against the South. Criminal northerner. dragunov: 2 Likes |

garfield1:How did you lose wells to AKS? The Court. A family matter or a Constitutional matter. Rivers and Lagos can also tell you it is survival for them. The best for the FG is to sit and discuss. A time is coming, we will begin to talk about minerals & raw material deposits been taken away from the Exclusive Legislative lists. My State is not any better, but for how long can we survive the way we are. The System now doesn't reward hard work. How can you justify that VAT shouldn't be controlled by States but another State manages & controls their own resource (Gold) and sell to the apex bank contrary to Section 44(3) of the Exclusive Legislative list. 2 Likes |

Re: FG Mulls Taking Rivers, Lagos To Supreme Court Over VAT Collection by fergie001: 8:39am On Sep 24, 2021 |
garfield1: The fact is that the CBN, just like in agriculture, is willing to invest in mining, as part of its Anchor Borrowers’ Programme whereby the apex bank will invest an amount for the State Government to supply it with the gold as proceeds of the investment,” They didn't sell to the Apex Bank? Zamfara Gold |
Re: FG Mulls Taking Rivers, Lagos To Supreme Court Over VAT Collection by garfield1: 11:43am On Sep 24, 2021 |
fergie001: You should have read the article na and be properly guided.zamfara bought the gold from srtisanal miners according to your link...even though gold belongs to the fg,they can lease out some mining fields or sell outrightly to private owners or state government...am not unmindful of the fact that we also have illegal mining just as we have oil bunkering... Finally, when fayemi was minister of solid minerals, state were given licences to mine solid minerals...as usual, misapprehended the situation... By the way according to ajuri ngilale,fg generates 63% of vat, states and lgas the remaining 37%..it is becoming clearer |
Re: FG Mulls Taking Rivers, Lagos To Supreme Court Over VAT Collection by fergie001: 11:46am On Sep 24, 2021 |
garfield1:This your back and forth is very unnecessary. First you said no State Govt sells gold. Did Zamfara State Govt sell to the apex bank? |
Re: FG Mulls Taking Rivers, Lagos To Supreme Court Over VAT Collection by garfield1: 12:03pm On Sep 24, 2021 |
fergie001: What exactly is your point? My point is that no state totally mine its mineral resources and sell directly as you were implying? What brought this addendum is you claiming that states like zamfara manage and control it's resources |
Re: FG Mulls Taking Rivers, Lagos To Supreme Court Over VAT Collection by fergie001: 12:44pm On Sep 24, 2021 |
garfield1:You said Zamfara selling gold is petty propaganda, we both agree now that they sold gold to the FG for 5 billion naira. You said States were given licenses to mine under Fayemi as Minister and now the FG has granted Zamfara State Govt a buying and selling license, so what's your point actually? They still do not manage it? See, leaving the VAT-issue to commence an argument on Zamfara Gold will not help the discussion at hand. The issue of VAT is the bone of contention and it is one that I wholesomely welcome. 2 Likes |
