Having watched this documentary, it clears up the misconception I earlier had that the M346FA will halt more purchases of the JF-17.

The senior Air Force official said the M346FA will replace our Alpha Jets & L-39ZA some of which are over 40 years old.

This means NAF would still get approval in the near future for more JF-17 fighter jets.
The 2021 defence budget (not 2021 supplementary budget) contained appropriation for continuing procurement of JF17 Block 2. There was money for 1 aircraft + systems.

Block III?
Could the jf17, just be to fill up numbers of crashed j7s , and not really to buy a lot of numbers?

The small number of JF17 ordered indicate exactly that.

Another good reason is that JF-17's development life-cycle isn't complete yet. The JF-17 block 3 is the original plan but till date still lacks the planned engine.

Ws-13 engine is expected to have better performance but haven't been finalized.

In my opinion I think it's better we see the full capabilities of this aircraft before major procurement is made.

I don't think the WS-13 engine is such a major requirement for the JF-17. Besides the RD-93 is a more reliable, and more widely used engine. It should be easier to maintain.

I like the JF-17, but I think NAF should aim for a more modern fighter instead of the Block II for example.

What's up with the F7-NI, how long does it take to maintain those aircrafts? It's been a long time since they left for China.
Maybe covid-19 related delays.

grin funny. You're right to some extent tho.
Your scenario is about a hypothetical situation in which Egypt goes to war with Israel.
Reasons I got into this conversation, is because of the earlier comparison made with the Algerian army. An army that is totally outclassed by the Egyptian army in terms of equipment, discipline and doctrine: later into the debate we started talking about "military" and "armed forces". I hope you are aware that the Egyptians have factories and structures across the country to support the manufacturing of m1a1 abrams tanks and also have support facilities for its f16s. Every contract signed for the supply of military equipments, the Egyptians ensure it includes setting up support structures for those equipments. We've seen what Iran did with its F14 tomcats. Egypt will go to war with Israel and sustain itself but will probably lose in the long run because of superior technology.
for the record, we have our own defense doctrine that matches our policy and ensures our security and the Egyptian army has no advantage over the Algerian army in terms of equipment and discipline, each army has a slight advantage over the other ,maybe the latest deals for Egypt gave a boost to the Egyptian army ,but in general, the capabilities of the two armies are very similar,I totally agree with you that the Egyptian army is more experienced in wars but the Algerian army is not an army for show.
