How do you make comments on a public forum without the ability to reason?

Not shocked anyway, you must be living under a rock somewhere for you not to have known that the exchange rate is no longer 360 naira which it was in January 2020 and is now 580 naira.

Do you think those in car business buy cars in Nigeria naira or US dollars? So if there is an increase in the exchange rate, will car prices not go up? Simple deductive reasoning. I have over the years on this forum put my prices here and if I choose not to do that now is not deductive that it due to the rate being unpredictable? So I have to come here every time the rate changes sporadically to change my price?

Not shocked at your comment though many people speak first before thinking these days.

Lastly, if you don’t like how I do things. There are thousands of dealers on this forum, move on to the next.

if you bought at a particular rate, say 570 for example, shouldn’t you have calculated how much profit you’ll make on it and put the price. Instead you want to sell at current dollar rate whenever you see a buyer. Hardly seems fair as I doubt you’ll reduce the price if dollar were to go down. Just saying.

Your position is unfair also ....

How can he buy another if he sells lower than the current rate ? You mean he should sell at the 500 to USD rate that he bought it then look for money elsewhere to buy another market ?

For your information , there are some commodity items that's increased more than 100% within the last 6months .... Food items for example ....... What's your message to the sellers ?

The earlier we start addressing the core issues in the land , this may just be the beginning ...

One important factor that most Nigerians forget is that these cars are bought with US dollars.

If the total landing cost to my doorstep for a car is $10,000 and the exchange rate was 500 naira, the total landing cost that day is 5,000,000 naira. I then decide to put the price at 5.5m. The exchange rate then rises to 580 naira to the dollar and the total landing cost is now 5.8m. If I still sell at 5.5m naira, is that good business sense or stupidity knowing fully well that I’m going to have to buy this vehicle again for 10,000 dollars.

Most buyers think mostly about themselves and not the fact that someone invested in a business. Took the pains, risk and patience to land a vehicle here for sale. Should he after all of that have nothing to show because your government and the system of governance has failed?

I won’t address this anymore.

All the best for him. If you are considering buying another car I think you’ll sell at the rate you bought at that moment so your point about looking for money to get another is invalid. . I’m not into car business and he is free to run his business anyhow he wants. Those that put up numbers don’t have two heads, have already calculated how much they want to make off the particular car and are not waiting on dollar rates just to sell. I come in peace. There’s no need for name calling.
There’s no way you’re going to sell below the initial amount you bought it if dollar price goes down so it just seems it only Favors you when the price goes up

Since you've been born has the Nigerian naira ever risen in value considerably that the exchange rate dropped considerably? This thing is simple mathematics. I'm just shocked at your analysis. Wow!

By your analysis, many companies would have simply folded up. Many industries rely on the US Dollar to do business. So the dollar goes up and they should not make changes due to the rate.

Anyway, it's not your money though. Till you're in business, then you'll understand properly. In 2009 an iPhone cost between 120,000 to 160,000 naira for a phone that came out that year. Why does it cost between 750k to 1.1m for the iPhones that were just released? Dollar rate is the answer and if the rate rises to 700 naira all of them will go up because the people sell and have to buy back in dollars so they have adjust prices to reflect that change so that they can afford to buy another batch to sell.

Sigh!!! I'm tired!!!

Guy it's simple logic of biz , this is entirely a biz dependent on foreign exchange .. and above all it's a very transient commodity ...
If dollar crashes what that means automatically is that he would be forced to sell at the current value of that car , else the depreciation continues ...

Say a drastic measure happens now and dollar goes to 360 it stayed during the first 5yrs of this guffment ... If the seller doesn't revert to the value , na him go drive the vehicle because other sellers would be bringing in exact vehicle and selling at current value ..

I hope it's clearer ?
