The people who have DQ at nvc for over a year haven't receive interview letter

1. Spousal visa.. She will have to file for him there to come over that is after a court wedding. And of course she will need the marriage certificate and date of birth to do that.

2. They can go for court wedding at Ikoyi registry.

3. Ofcourse they can get married without family consent. Only that they must be at least two witness present at the wedding. And it is always good they take enough pics, the couple, friends and family as well as well wishes to serve as a proof of genuine wedding should the consular doubt the genuiness of the marriage.


4. The process take minimum of 18 month or so.

5. If she does not want to come to Nigeria for them to get married, then she can file fiance or k1 visa for him. However, she must have visited him twice in Nigeria with lots of pics showing they are genuine lovers before such visa could be granted.

6. It is a must she comes to Nigeria. Unless thr guy can travel to see her on a visiting visa after wish she can file K1 visa for her. Either she or he must pay a visit.

7 No. She cannot file for spousal visa without marriage certificate.

Number 5 is NOT correct. What the law says is they must have met physically. The number of times is NEVER specified. You could meet just once and file for it. My friend met his US fiance in Ghana for just 6 days once. She filed for him and he is in the states as I type.

Please which other marriage registry is recognized internationally apart from Ikoyi registry in Lagos?

Please urgent reply, my case was just transferred to nvc, and have not receive any information from them, I just want to know how soon they can schedule my interview because I have to travel from turkey back to Nigeria for interview.thanks

If your case has just been transferred to NVC, it means you will still have to pay some fees and upload docs after which you be dQed ( when your docs are reviewed, approved and declared complete by NVC) This usually take 60 days or more . Then you will be sent invitation for interview. However, no one knows when you will get the interview invite even after being documentarily qualified ‘Cos there are lots of people on queue already as far back last year.


So, what you should be concerned now is to get through with this NVC stage first which can still take up to two months or more then you can now worry about getting interview invite which can even take up to a year. No one knows though, just prepare your mind ahead.

well said molybdenum..I have been DQ since January until date I have not seen Interview letter..Hopefully it will come soon..Infact I have given up hope until next year.

Wow please let me ask more question, don’t you think is better I move my case to turkey since people are queue in Nigeria, I have a resident permit here?

If Possible do it...This long wait is annoying..Like my attorney said Interview dates are unpredictable this days..Meaning no specific time frame..It could come today,next week,next month or even next year..But what is most important is that I am DQ and i thankful for that.

to be honest this people are treating us bad, i saw a post on Facebook NVC,,,,, Philippine woman get her visa within 6 months, she got her visa and her step daughter ....they are treating us so bad in africa.

Of course,I am beginning to feel Biden is not different from Trump...It has been endless wait for me....It is unfair TBH..After being DQ since january,even heard some have been same since last year.

Finally am not alone in this, mine was since January, I have written twice and the reply I got was “Due to the COVID I should exercise patients and would be notified once there is an interview date”.. it’s already taking a year
