By Chinonso Alozie, Owerri The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, on Wednesday said it would hold the federal government accountable should anything bad happen to the Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom. COSEYL, said this in Owerri, in a statement by the President, Goodluck Ibem, concerning the governor alleging a threat to his life. The Igbo group said it observed Ortom was under threat due to his stand against open grazing in the Southern part of the country. Also, Ibem claimed the threat to Ortom’s life was coming from what he described as sponsored terrorist groups from the Sudan country. COSEYL said among others “The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the apex socio-political front for all youthful organisations in the Southeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria is aware of the latest concern and alarm sounded by Governor Ortom of Benue State wherein the governor alleged that assassins from Sudan had been hired to eliminate him. “We are already touched and saddened by recent assassinations and reported deaths that have overwhelmed the Nigerian space recently while the government of the day (the federal government which controls the whole security agencies, intelligence infrastructure and apparatuses, even the paramilitary units) has not been able to do much to stem the tide of this trend and bloodletting. “The deaths of politically-exposed persons like Obadiah Mailafia, Ahmed Gulak, Dr Chike Akunyili, just to mention but a few should give any observer and follower of the Nigerian polity a worry. Though allegations point to elsewhere, nothing, to the knowledge of COSEYL, is concrete and firm as with these deaths. Even that of Gulak sounds like a cock and bull.” “We wish to sound the warning to the federal government of the day with whom Ortom has been having a running battle of words that no harm, should by any means, come to Ortom.” “We strongly support Ortom and his position in the matter of open grazing that has taken lives of Nigerians caused food crises, population displacement, human dislocation and dislodgement and other sundry challenges occasioned by herders whose agenda remains to grab land and use same for grazing commons. “In our unalloyed support for him, we state that any attack on Ortom is not just an attack on the opposition or a dissenting voice but one against us and our democracy, since as a Coalition, we share the same opinion on grazing with the governor. We will not take this, not even from any president or presidency,” COESYL said. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/10/igbo-group-battles-fg-over-alleged-threat-on-benue-governor-ortom/ |

There is no need buying Benue Case, so stay on your lane, unless Benue people are going negotiate how much tones of food they would suply us in return, enough of Igbos taking bullets for others, Otorm didn't support the south becuase it is good for us, he did it because it is best for him (them). What support have he given to the Igbos on the sit at home or how is he trying to ensure that Kanu is released so that life can go back to normal here also, South East youth or whatever if you have no issue to discuss then shut your mouth, If Otorm or even Benue needs help they no exactly what to do, last time I checked we had not closed our borders. |

AlexBells:I beg to disagree. lol The one area Igbo politics have so far failed is this inexplicable inability to work with DIRECT NEIGHBORS. I just can't understand it. Why can't Igbo the MAJOR ethnic group in the South eastern hemisphere of Nigeria essentially take charge of the political influences in that hemisphere? In the years gone by, Igbo influenced political events even up to as far north as plateau! Today, you see some Igbo blind guides who lack the guts and vision wanting to essentially quarantine Igbo inside South east. For the record, Gov Samuel Ortom has consistently spoken out in support of Kanu and IPOB's rights to freedom of political association and assembly. What COSEYL is doing here is SMART politics. ![]() |

onumadu:That's not it, they only remember us when it is time to take the bullets, look anyone that did not fight with our fathers in Biafra or anyone that had denied us in recent time let it stay that way, it must be diplomatic, the question is, what are we getting in return, did you see me request crude oil from Benue, No, just some tones of food and we shall clear your lands of terrorists for good. There is no need building bridges if the bridges is only used when we are likely going to be endangered, the Igbo nation got every damn thing we need as a nation so anyone who thinks our alliance is worth should answer the question what do we get in return, The question, would Benue or anyone take the bullet for us, as a matter of fact as far as we are not fighting the FG, we are good in Nigeria, any single nation should bring their madness on, so others needs us more than we need them and they should make clear the terms of any Alliance. |

AlexBells:Well put. Thank you. Ortom and Benue people never called for Igbo support. Ndiigbo have alot on our own plates to solve. Meddling into Benue issue uninvited is folly and foolishness. We have to learn to play neutral game in Nigeria. Just "masterly inactivity", stay off the line of action and watch proceedings for crying out loud. |

AlexBells:I'll try a short illustration to drive my point. Where is the seat of Fulani power in Nigeria? You'd agree it is Sokoto, right? But Fulani MUSLIMS are telling CHRISTIANS how to run their states in farthest reaches of Southern Nigeria! In fact, a Christian governor is currently doing more "Fulanisation" in his state than the Fulani can ever dream of. How do they do that? By quarantining in Sokoto? lol No of course. I honestly don't want to say more on this, but pls use your tongue to count your teeth. |
| Re: Igbo Group Battles FG Over Alleged Threat On Benue Governor, Ortom by onumadu(op): 5:39pm On Oct 08, 2021 |
@Alexbells, So, my point is that before you in the South are able to fight the Fulani in Sokoto, you have to first defeat your own governor in your land and state! ![]() And the Fulani are just sitting jejeyley having fun in their homeland, laughing their a..ssses of. Nna, let me leave it at that biko. |

onumadu:Allow Fulanis to Fulanis all the Igbos, it is time you all realise that blood is thicker than religion, no one sensible person gives a bleep, I think you guys think this new Igbo spirit gives a damn about Islamization, Kaduna Nzeogwu was almost a Fulani man but when the time came they realised that no matter how long a crocodiles stays in the water it can never turn to a fish, you are wasting your time trying to Islamise or Fulanise the Igbos, when the time comes that core Igbo traits would show up, Stop trying to bring false alarm on the Igbos, we are not a nation of 10 million people, what you should fear is that the Fulanis don't get Igbonised and forcefully Christianised becuase any terrorist we get henceforth would be forcefully baptised. |

onumadu:You are the one that is not using your tongue to count your teeth. Mind your Igbo business and let other non Igbo tribes be. Which Kain busy body be this? Who made you Voltron the defender of universe? You rush and join Ortom and Benue to fight your imaginary Fulanis enemies uninvited. Ortom and his people will turn around tomorrow and settle with Fulanis on top of your head. You become a collateral damage and you start crying "betrayal" like an overgrown baby elephant all over the place. What is wrong with you guys? Energy is not unlimited, a wise people know how to conserve their energy and use it when necessary. Fools go about exhausting energy and leaving themselves powerless and defenseless. |

onumadu:Tell that to Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu lol, no be only Sokoto na Futa Jalon we are nice people we would just stay on radio in your so called Sokoto and announce a surrender for them lol, even Fulani knows their mate abeg stop glorifying and endangering Fulanis they are not stupid they understand capacity |

Igboid:Leave those guys, if at this point and the Igbos don't know whatzup then good for the fools who wants to fight for nothing, same middle belt Kaduna Nzeogwu saw their invasion decades ago his interference cost his youthful and bright future, and you still want his would be children and grand children to suffer same fate, at least let us know what we stand to gain first |

AlexBells:There is nothing to gain from all these minorities. Nothing. Ndiigbo have to learn that lesson fast and hard. We have to learn to stay neutral in any issue involving these minorities and use their penury when possible to further our own interests. We simply have to learn to be more ruthless and strictly Igbo interests protection and advancement driven, irrespective of what group gets annihilated in the process. In summary. What FULANI is doing in Benue is non of Igbo business. Our business is how to play a good politics to effect boundary adjustment between Ebonyi and Benue that would result in all those Izzi and Ezza communities trapped in Benue returned to Ebonyi state, and thereafter fully fund our already formed *three dragon militia" to make sure Miyetti Allah that have been chased off SE , remain contained in BENUE and not cross over into SE from Benue/Enugu and Benue/Ebonyi borders. This is how a wise people should behave. If we play our politics well, we can even negotiate with Miyetti not to interfere in their issue with Benue, if they stay off Northern Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra forever and not encroach as well as help us recover those Izzi and Ezza communities trapped in Benue. This is what I call pragmatic leadership, politics and negotiation driven by interests and not sentiments. And you can only get this by playing the neutral card, keeping all your cards close to your chest and all your options open, by not rushing to pick any side in any face-off between two non Igbo groups or zones in Nigeria, after securing your own patch. Such that the Benue Minorities will be co ming to you to plead for help to push off Fulanis, while FULANIS will be coming to you to offer you incentives to stay off the squabble. You then weight both options and choose the one that serve Ndiigbo most, not minding the plight of Benue people. |

Igboid:I would disagree a bit on the impact of less populated people, we need them up to a point but if they must stay under our protection umbrella, they must pay the price, if you look at the UK today, you saw how England gathered the less populated nation and built the UK into a onetime most powerful nation on Earth We need minorities for a stronger and a more stable border but these things needs to be spelled out properly so that if they go out of agreement then each interests override, we need these less populated nations like Efik, Ibibio, Igala, Benue should be on the list but we are not stupid, and we are not walking ourselves into a warzone About the Militia you spoke about, I'm not quite in support of armed militias becuase it is easy to run into illegality with those when it comes to legal weapons and illegal weapons, I'm more in support of reviving Ojukwus RAP Project |

I still find the death of Obadiah Mailafia veryyyyyyyy shocking. The man opened a little of what he knew and they killed him. That's why someone said, if you talk, you go die. If you no talk, you go still die. So, why not talk and die?" RIP to all those who have lost their lives in this shithole. |
| Re: Igbo Group Battles FG Over Alleged Threat On Benue Governor, Ortom by Igboid: 6:20pm On Oct 08, 2021 |
AlexBells:We don't need those minorities for anything. I have studied them all closely by being a member of their Facebook pages and even visiting their towns to make investigations myself. The earlier some of you snap out of the misguided fantasies of building any thing tangible with minorities in North Central and South South, the faster we start making concrete steps and progress in achieving Republic of Igboland independence. UK is not really a good example to cite. You saw how Ireland fought for years to leave UK and Scotland though have chosen a less violent means are doing same. It was manageable when UK was raiding the whole world to bring home the goods. But once the empire started dwindling, all man wanted out. I desire a homogeneous Alaigbo republic. Like Japan. Homogeneous entities are better managed and have more chances of being successful and impenetrable to outside influences in this era when empire building is no longer acceptable. On the Militia, did you not hear from Miyetti Allah spokesman confirm that the three red dragon militia from the land of the rising sun have chased them out from SE for now atleast? Where did you think they ran to? Northern Cross River and Benue. Now that's our bargaining chip. We fund the red dragon to maintain the boundary. Then we watch the Minorities Battle it out with Fulanis. We play the patience game and look out for which of them approaches us first for help. Any that approaches and make offer, we tell the other about the other approach and what they are offering and ask them if they can offer more. The choice will be to team up with Minorities in Cross River to push Fulani back or to accept Fulani juicy offer to stay off the issue in exchange for concrete concessions and promise to stay off SE as well as boundary adjustment to return our lost territories to the Minorities. Of course you know they wouldn't keep the promise of staying off SE forever, once they are done with the Minorities, they would be coming for you, so you do well to ensure their fight with Minorities last forever by playing some underhand tactics. This is how I want the modern Igbo to be thinking. So stone cold Ruthless interest driven politics, and not some stupid emotional and sentimental things like: " Benue are Christians and Fulani are Muslims, there is islamization going on, let's rush and side Benue Christians" and some other stupid things some modern Igbos parrot about before choosing sides in issues of importance. |

Igboid:If you assume that we do away with prioritising relationship with minorities then we need powerful industrialisation, for instance in the event that we go to war, we need raw food materials from Benue for instance a relationship with them don't really mean building a country with them, it means if we have to buy their raw food then they should buy so and so volume of our finished goods otherwise our raw food can come from core North or West, That's the impact of working together with them to secure their market from China if we have agreements that they must buy so and so volume of Aba made then we would as well buy their food and other materials and then train their intelligence and supplying them protective equipments like bullet proof vehicles and all the rest this is where the need comes, otherwise China, or even Europe or American can take these potential markets from us, no real competition from Africa in the distance future. |
| Re: Igbo Group Battles FG Over Alleged Threat On Benue Governor, Ortom by AlexBells(m): 6:40pm On Oct 08, 2021 |
onumadu:I strongly believe that we need less populated people but the question what do we gain in return MUST be satisfied, they should stop trying to talk us into panic by saying things like Fulanis would invade and Fulanis everyone that's joke taken too far you know, It is just like telling USA that China would invade and Chinalise them, well it could go as a political jab but the people who should worry about Chinese invasion are people like Taiwan, and Taiwan/US relationship is spelled out, US knows they would keep getting quality Chip from Taiwan and at the same time denying China same so these people if they want to work with us should tell us what we gain in return Fulani terrorists or invaders are threats to them not to us so no one should set us in panic mode, once they satisfy the above we would move in to ensure that we protect them and they shall be under our umbrella and if Fulani does not stay away, we should send our force to there. |

AlexBells:Bro. We have enough land in the East to farm. Israel is living in small desert land and are supplying the world with food. Why patronise Benue for food when you can industrialize food industry in South East and earn big forex as well as create employment for Igbo youths. There is how we can maximize Space for agriculture in SE. One of it is by turning the current 5 capitals to mega cities by building super residential skyscrapers powered by elevators. We have enough gas to do That. With Republic of Igboland we will use our abundant gas and coal to solve power issue and we still have crude oil. Sunshine is high in all over SE for Solar panels and the EnuguUdi -Okigwe- Awka mountain range will serve as good location for Wind turbines installation to harness the Energy from the Wind. Then have another 5 or six smaller cities with same residential skyscrapers. Entice 90% of the rural dwellers to move into those city apartments and convert our current rural areas and villages to massive highly mechanized farmlands. Countries like Netherlands are smaller than Igboland yet are agricultural Giants feeding the world. Modern agriculture has gone beyond just land space and mass. It's all about technology, science and Government dedicated intervention to assist the industry. Stop looking up to minorities for anything, stop giving them the powers they don't need to have over us. Land is only one factor of production out of 5! Nigeria has Benue and minorities and still import food because the other 4 factors outweigh land! We are complete as we are! No buts, no ifs. Emancipate yourselves Ndiigbo. |

Igboid:Your strategies are always mostly POLITICAL, and that is where people like you make grievous mistake. You need both political and MILITARY strategy knitted together to even survive talkless of thriving as a nation. If the Fulani work with all your "minority" neighbors of Igbo as they have cleverly done over the years, you stand no chance of controlling even your own land. As painful as this truth is, that is still the truth! How come you latter day Igbo can't even rise above the accomplishments of people like Zik who built influence all the areas necessary even up to Kanu (during Abubakar Rimi's governorship)? Go back into history, and you would see that NCNC controlled all the "minority" areas effortlessly? How did Zik do that? Igbo fall started with the coup on Jan 1966 and subsequent failure of succeeding Igbo leaders to "build back better". People like Arthur Nzeribe did try though with his Eastern Mandate Union, but he was not really understood by fellow Igbo. In politics and military (keeping in mind that military ultimately decides politics), the best form of defense is offense! An "Igbo republic" where all neighbors are either direct enemy or effectively under enemy control, can only end in miserable loss and defeat for Igbo. BTW, Igbo is a nation of at least 60 million people! Why do we have less influence than Fulani of about 7 million people? That 60 million would be useless if we keep quarantining in Igboland, sniveling around trying not to confront the Fulani, essentially trying to play game of "who will betray who most". Why must we quarantine ourselves in Igboland, lamenting that everybody hates us? Answer: It is a mind thing. |

Igboid:I do understand your point but when you look at Isreal and Netherlands and Isreal, you do know that AlaIgbo is really more industrialised than that and we have a bigger market, Isreal is just a country of about 8 million people which Netherlands is also relatively small, Igbos is a country of over 45 million and if we get more industrialised more of our people would stay back home Nigeria is a country of 200 million, supplying the whole country and nearby country with Spare parts is an endeavour we had single handedly taken care of, clothing, medications and gadgets is another area we dominate, then we have fair share in banking and we also dominate the movie industry which our own Nollywood is the second biggest in the world, AlaIgbo is far more industrialised than Isreal so they have lots of time to go into mechanised agriculture, we can as well go into it but the cost of production would be higher in Alaigbo makibg it likely unprofitable getting food from our neighbours for the time being would be cheaper We can set up processing and packaging plants but we must not neglect readily source of raw materials, |

AlexBells:I never said we should go "carry minorities matter for head". Nope! What I meant is that Ndigbo should be able to "smell blood" in politics, and make use of every opportunity that shows up. We don't have to be "in your face" about it, but we should not be seen to be unwilling or incapable of taking the opportunity. That is really why our land today is more occupied militarily than even war zones in Nigeria. Bandits are in charge in Niger state where two former heads of state live, but you don't see the type of militarization of the state as you see in South east. When APGA was formed, I had hoped it would work to produce governors in "minority states", but the leaders of APGA lacked the guts and vision to make that happen. Today APGA only controls Anambra state, with Fulani-controlled APC breathing down our neck in the state! I'm trying not to say certain things. Anyway my point is that COSEYL did good today. |
