In Nigeria, 5th of October is celebrated as World Teachers' Day and the theme for this year is "Teachers at the heart of Education recovery". On this day Nigerian teachers celebrate and appreciate themselves in their work; a work free day for Urban teachers.  This day is declared as a public holiday by the government; students do not go  to school and workers have a work free day. The point is centered around “acknowledging, evaluating and enhancing the instructors of the world” and to give a chance to consider the issues identified with educators and the teaching process in general.

This tells us the vitality of teachers; there has  not been any nation in the world that has developed without teachers, quality education, or standardized educational structures.

As Mustafar Kemal Atatürk (1881-1938), the former President of Turkey says, "a good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others." There's no doubt that teachers are the backbones of the nation. Their contribution to human capital development are globally enormous. Teachers turnout politicians, lawyers, doctors, sociologists, psychologists, engineers, astronauts, and architects among others.
Our congratulations to all the Teachers, young & old, FOR WISDOM HAS NO AGE. HaPpy Teachers' DAY!
thanks a lot for this. You just made me proud again as a teacher. God will continue to bless you and yours.

My mum..
I admire you most. A teacher's work is impossible if parents give him a badly raised child. For me, my parents are the best of all the teachers I ever passed through, they gave me life and helped refined it. For the knowledge imparted into me, (both right and wrong) by teachers, I say thank you

Most of my Nursery, primary and secondary School teachers were wicked. The ones who were not wicked don't have your time..

Mr. Ibikunle my pry 3 teacher stoned me on the forehead with a duster one day when we were doiing general reading in class because i looked away from my reader. You know those kinda duster with a wooden handle.
I can never forget that day.

Mr Rotimi flogged the hell out of my life for looking out the window when he was teaching my worst subject back then ( math).

At the tertiary level, they leave you to your fate. So nothing from their end.

Ok.... I appreciate them all. grin
It's well. it's all right. I'm glad you are making a difference . Happy teacher's day to you.

I use this medium to thank and appreciate Mrs Ijeoma Ugwu for believing in me even when I lost all hope and for the school fees and all the assistant she render just to make sure I pass through secondary school.

While helping me with school fees she was battling with a heart disease.

I pray for God to blessed me with a job so I can appreciate her for helping me when I had nobody to stand for me.

Mrs Ijeoma Ugwu of GSS Nyanya Abuja as I remember you this days of my life may God continued to hear your silent prayer indeed you are a mother may Almighty God keep you for me.

Its over 14 years now I have not heard or see you because of some circumstances but definitely I will come.

Nana Ko Bediako II...my Ghanian primary six teacher. He taught me a guiding mathematical principle that stayed with me throughout the remaining years of my formal learning and even till tomorrow sef, I still apply it to practice. The principle is ---> "Will it be more or less? If less, more device. If more, less device". Lol.

Sample question; Mr Franco dedicates his salary of N40k to hosting monthly town's meetings. How much would he need to spend in March and August, if he then decides to use only a quarter of his salary, after a 20% pay raise?

Solution: 40k= 100%
20% increase= 120%
(I must speak this English in my head);
If 100%=40000
Therefore 120%, would it be more or less? It would be more, if more, less device!
40000÷1 ×120÷100
Answer ÷ 4 = Semi final answer
Semi final answer × 2= Final answer

Our Further Maths teacher once flogged the entire SS2 Science class for not being able to answer a number 1 simple interest question correctly. Including me. Only for him to start solving on the board, solved from up to down, cleaned it after giving people time to copy into their books, continued at the top again just to get the answer I got in just four lines.

And I was like, 'Hey dude, so why did you flog me nauuuuu? I got that same answer." And he was like, "What are you talking about, did you even attempt it? Lemme see your book".

He'd completely missed it, because he didn't expect anyone to answer correctly and he was cane-happy. He stared forever at my solution, hanging his head low in shame until the sound of the bell released him. But the big head had already flogged me. cry

God bless Nana Ko Bediako jare. Wherever he is now. I've tried to connect with him so many times on social media platforms- Facebook, LinkedIn.., but that name never comes up on search results. He could even be dead for all I know. Bless him, wherever he is.

Am from a town in nnewi south LGA, there was this teacher that hate me so much in my primary 5&6, her names are miss nwankwo in umeibe compound, average in height, she loves to frog me so much, when ever we misbehave in class she will beat me and give me the highest punishment, but what I don't understand is why she always take me to her home for for her own domestic work, and gave me enough food to eat, she can never allow me to play both in school break and after school too, she always forced me to read and do my assignment at her home before I leave her house, I hate her with passion, is like my dad handwork I later graduate and move to jss1, her last word to me wnen I came back for my 1st leaving sch certificate, that she never hated me at all, that she loves me so much, that's while she is following me like that, intact all I learned from her is what is leading me today, I can cook, work, study, and I can teach my children, I love her soon much now
As far as I am concerned, she didn't make so much impact...'cos you still cannot write what people can easily comprehend.

Perhaps, it could be 'follow come' that you are incapable of writing in a manner that is comprehensible.

Kudos to Mrs Dongo D. O. D my Mathematics teacher @FGC Ibillo, Edo State.
My respect for her is basically on how she'd mark all our notes and assignment notes everytime she gives out an assignment.
One other thing is her prowess and dedication to teaching (organising extra maths class FOC) just to make sure we are up and doing and her responsible motivation and grooming of students for COWBELL.

Some appreciate her for her beautiful voice and anatomy too.
07/08 set.
hey I miss fgc ibillo. do we still connect? do we have a whatapp group for alunmus.? If we do just let me know so I could join.
