It is not! It is emphatically not an achievement. You can pick anybody and get married. My gateman is married to two beautiful ladies, he got the second one during the lockdown .

Exactly, that's why I said only a 'successful mariage' is an achievement. Registering your business with the government, setting up shot etc is not an achievement if the business folds up in two years leaving you with huge debt. A successful business however, is an achievement.

I mean given the high rate of divorce in the society, the high rate of infidelity, domestic/verbal assault, and also the high rate of children without morals, values or ethics, one can comfortably say marriage should be a thing of personal opinion, not something you come on social media to rant about.

Marriage is an achievement as children born out of wedlock are easily seen as outcast compared to their peers who are born within the contract of marriage.

If one is married in our African setting, one is classified as been responsible as respectable compared to others that are not.

Everything boil to a good background before the marriage is established and what drives the 2 imperfect folks who loves and respect each other.

I know of people who had been alive till this very moment if they had decided not to get married...
In other words...na marriage to their partners kill them....
Getting married to a wrong partner isn't something you notice at first......
Good people could turn out to be bad at the end....

Personally for me, I don't know if I will get a wife or have my own baby yet (esp in this our present Naija)... I'm still in between...
Because sometimes I feel like what are you enjoying as a citizen that you want to bring an innocent child to this country....I think that's the best way to help my unborn child... To leave the four walls of this country before having a child....

Single is a choice, same with marriage. Any dick, Tom and Harry can get married. No special skills required .

If being married is a high achievement, same should apply to being single. You shouldn't look down on others because you are married and they are single.

When you marry, you are doing it for yourself. You are not getting married for the society. You are just fulfilling your own personal need.

Not in Nigeria, it's one of the fastest way of entrenching yourself in poverty if you don't have anything doing...expenses double, kids, feeding, accomodation, groceries, infact you will spend every fucking day.
