This CBN Governor is the dumbest CBN Governor ever.
Imagine if he's from the North, the IPIG blodas would have been calling him "quota system " product.
I wonder how this mumu got this position.

Honestly am beginning to suspect the Activities of this CBN under Emefiele. He is more of a Minister of Finance than his primary role as the Chief Banker of the Federation.

The man knows what he's saying, you're the one who doesn't know anything. CBN needs to allow the Naira float and allow market forces decide the price. You're still talking about BDC selling dollars when they have stopped receiving dollars from CBN.

And how are northerners creating false scarcity to make money?

You people are just too short sighted in this country ..say BDC stopped receiving dollars is it still not available with Abokis on the street? Have u seen nay BDC that has closed down ..you people don't even understand what is happening in this country ...when I warned that withdrawing BDC license will only crash the value of Naira people like u argued with me here and 3 days later the Naira crashed to what it is now.... If CBN allows the official rate to float ( it's already floating sef because you can never see it to buy that rate ) be ready to pay more for it from Aboki

Prof should be careful with this advice because if the naira is left to market forces as he's suggesting, it could go as high as N1000+ to a dollar within weeks. The consequent inflation would be mad. And knowing Nigerians, they won't hear grammar o. To the average person on the streets, dollar to naira exchange rate is meant to be as low as possible, they don't care how it's done. Else they will heap the blame on him and Buhari's heads.

This is the same person they want to vote in as president.

You are very right. But with or without his advice it will get to a thousand + naira btw now and the next eighteen months. With the huge debts,we are in for a rough ride, except the crude price keeps getting higher and the accrued funds properly managed

Stop calling BDCs aboki, that's very inappropriate, abokis are not the only ones who own BDCs and CBN is not the only place to get dollar. What of foreign remittances coming into the country, do you think it goes to CBN first? Do you even know the people in the business of international money transfer service?

One thing we must realise is once the naira finds it level, it will begin to adjust it value as determined by the market.
To speculate, that hold the dollar only to sell when it appreciates against the naira will become risky, because at the equilibrium price the naira could go up or down no one really knows.
For example in my ‘Trade’, if we are lending say EURO and are operating currency is USD, we simply do an fx swap to cover the first interest period to hedge our exposure to EUR. We then do an swap on each interest payment date.
The reason being currencies fluctuate so much that if we did an fx swap for the full period of the loan, there is the high chance that we might suffer Fx loss which might wipe out the interest received during the loan period.
So the fx swap is done on a monthly or quarterly basis to mitigate our fx exposure. In some periods we benefit from fx gain in other periods we lose. But the net benefit during the loan period is usually positive.
So my point is if the naira is allowed to float those who hold it for speculative reasons will suffer in the long run.

very mad & reckless. He want a situation whereby executives wearing tie & suit or agbada will be so hit by hardships arising from floating of currency that they will only afford to be able to take garri and palm oil for breakfast before going to work.

Nonsense, Afonja has been destroying the economy since buhari became president and he handed over the economy to Osinbajo. If you want to fix the forex issues you need to monitor who's hand the dollar is and how at each time in who the money is.

That prof should keep quite. Does he not know market forces are reacting to our continuous importation of petrol. If market forces determine naira to dollar then petrol may be selling for N700 per litre in two weeks time and exceed N1400 per litre by year end. Looks like this economy will crash before 2023 obviously VP and buhari are part of the problem.

You are drawing a false analogy. If CBN decide to sell dollars at the market rate, say 600 how would the aboki make a profit? By selling at 700?
Once a currency finds it level, that would eliminate arbitrage. The presence of arbitrage opportunities in a market suggests that the price of the commodity is not at equilibrium.

Is it as simple as that and is that supposed to be the thought process of an acclaimed intellectual?
On the one hand u av a dullard that believes forex should be hoarded and given only to cronies,on the other is another dullard that says CBN should just allow the Naira to float.
Even in the most advanced and capitalist of countries, they sometimes intervene in the currency market, just that in our case we have a horrible president,a seemingly mentally challenged CBN governor and a cabinet of glorified dullards.
He has always been a dullard, forget all that issue of him being a professor of law.

Guy most currencies are free floating even the pound dollar and euro. I’m order to increase or decrease the value of their currencies, they either pump money into the economy or reduce the amount of money in the economy they also look at inflation.

What he is saying is so correct. You forget that most of nigerias money is imported.

Imagine if naira is 1000 for one dollar all the dollars we are collecting will be equal to more naira.
More foreign companies will invest dollars in Nigeria because they will convert it to more naira. Outsiders are not fools imagine you got to the market and you want to buy something. They call it 500 but you know In your mind it is only worth 300 will you buy or will you go somewhere else.

No security no light no nothing no ease of doing business and you’re selling your currently like it is high.

He isnt. A Vice president is there to satisfy a constitutional requirement in case anything happens to the president....otherwise he has no purpose!!! Normally his job is to go and commission this or that, stand in for the president, represent the president at this function here or there. In demiocracies the president rarely chooses his Vice President of his own free will, he is usually given a list to choose from or a power block nominates a Vice president for him.

very rarely is a Vice president really PART of an administration even in the America we are copying usually he is someone the president tolerates because the law mandates him to have a VP or party politics forced the VP on him and I am being serious here!!!
