Yes, if you relative die and you want the court to decide, you will take the matter to the court and the court will decide. If you don't want the court to decide, then you will go and bury the dead as you decide

Usually when a polygamous man dies, his first wife and her children see it as opportunity to undo what he did while alive in marrying more than one wife. But the court is always their to listen to them.
If while alive, a man identified himself with more than one wife and had children from other women whether married to them or not, they are all part of the family and must participate in his burial and share of his estate. My friend that is a lawyer told me that the fact that a man had children outside wedlock does not make the children any lesser in all their father's affairs dead or alive.

1.I once read of a similar case to Admiral Kanu's case...where there was a dispute between one of the children of a deceased man and his other children over burial. And the man had one wife, and the children were all from that one wife.

Being monogamist, and I am monogamist myself , does not insulate one from marital issues.

2.Having concubines would only create more strife too. Especially when it comes to INHERITANCE...!

Ibo people get problem...is Ibo land a burial ground...must people who had lived all their lives a away be buried in Ibo land.

I think people (wives) are too greedy in the South...North has been marrying 4 wives since time, but you hardly hear squabbles of children and wives fighting each other after the Oga passes on..

If you want to marry more than one wife, make sure they all live in the same house with you, and everyone eats from one pot

jtrue. There are no bastards before the law as long as the deceased recognised a child as his in his lifetime, such a child has equal rights

Bros abeg na when him dey alive him offend u, abi na him ghost or dead body?

ND Kanu was a great man who stood against injustice and misrule despite his military back ground.
It's quite unfurtunate that such an embarrassing situation arose after his demise....
Lession for the living--if there's no compelling reason for polygamy other than your lust and greed, pls stick to one Wife to avoid stories like this.
