The issue I have with you is that you are very insincere in your arguments making it an absolute waste of time bantering with you. Who ever told you that Messi won 2019 B'Dor mainly because he won La Liga?

FYI, 2019 UCL played the major role in Messi's Ballon D'or win over Van Dijk. Even though he didn't win it, Messi was outstanding in 2019 UCL as he was highest goal scorer (12 goals) and he had several outstanding knock-out games where he almost single-handedly determined the outcomes with spectacular goals i.e against Lyon, Man utd and first leg vs Liverpool that brought him critical acclaim. In fact, if he had not scored that majestic free kick against Liverpool at the Semifinal which was the tipping point for many of the voters (e.g Mourinho), he most likely would not have won the B'dor over VVD. The La Liga trophy was just a minimum base, the main factor was his UCL exploits.

Lewy on the other hand simply did not have the same kind of impact on UCL Messi did in 2019. If you deny this, then you are simply confirming that you are irrational. No player has ever won the Ballon D'or solely on the basis of local league exploits. There's usually outstanding performances in either the UCL/UEFA Cup or an international tournament that augments their case to win.

So messi won it due to his CL performance despite being dropped 4.0... always excuses for messi... so then we should give it to benzema cos he was outstanding in the champions league or halaand for being turn scorer...same thing other players hv been doing yearly... but when Messi does it, they will start promoting it... no one single big game last season plus the copa that Messi influenced to victory... and yet u think he deserves it above Lewandowski that was outstanding... if u say messi did his best for barca but cudnt achieve much cos it was a weak team, then Lewandowski also has a case cos he was outstanding in the Euros , unfortunately he played for Poland that will never win anything...

Never mind other scintillating non-goal displays Messi did which these players can't even match. Haaland exited at the quarter-finals. Benzema had less than 8 goals. None of them had the kind of outstanding performances Messi had against Man utd, Liverpool, Lyon and Tottenham in 2019.

For someone who claims to watch football since long ago, your submissions are ridiculous. When Rivaldo won Ballon D'or in 1999 after not making it into UCL quarter-finals with Barca, what do you think was responsible? His 1999 Copa America win of course.

When Ronaldo De Lima won Ballon D'or in 1997 without getting anywhere in UCL or even winning Serie A, what did you think was responsible? His 1997 Copa win of course. Kaka won Copa & UCL 2007 and was Ballon D'or winner as well.

Did you even know that since year 2000 only once has the Ballon D'or winner ever come from the team that won the Euros and your guess is as good as mine, that was Cristiano in 2016 so why dont you say it was when CR won Euros that the tournament was hyped as a decider for Ballon D'or winners.

2000 - Figo won B'Dor despite Portugal's elimination at Euro semi-finals.
2004 - Shevchenko did not come from Greece
2008 - Cristiano certainly did not come from Spain
2012 Euros did not produce Messi
