Every system in Nigeria is open to manipulations How many votes did buhari get in Kano and Lagos during his parties primaries and how many votes did he get in the main elections. In anambra APC, there was no direct primaries but they were results. In Edo pastor got more votes in the so called direct primaries than in the real elections. Any body who can do vote buying in main elections can also do vote buying in the direct primaries 17 Likes 2 Shares |

Direct primary is best... what is the point of 30 million people electing from two person provided to you by just less than 2000 party delegates mosttimes.. Most times, delegates give the country options of "devil and lesser devil".. 9 Likes |

Yes. Direct primaries is the best. 1. Only popular candidates will emerge winners. 2. Power to elect candidates will move from few individuals to the masses. 3. Governors will have lesser powers to choose NA members like they use to. 4. Bribing will be difficult because it have to do with a larger number of people compared to indirect primaries. 20 Likes 1 Share |

Direct party primaries will make parties maintain a permanent and accessible register of active members and their true data across the nation. It will deepen active party politics. It will also be a source of income as registered members will pay periodic dues to own the party, remain active and keep party working. Moreover, if direct primaries are held through secret balloting rather than 'option A4' of lining up behind the picture of preferred candidate, rigging, inducement and intimidation will be reduced to minimum. 13 Likes |

Direct primaries will favour only the big parties with national spreads and enough financial war chest. How would you expect parties like AAC, KOWA or even ACCORD to afford primaries in all States of the Federation 4 Likes |

No. It will be very chaotic. I witness the last APC direct primary in my state and the outcome was a mess. APC should not impose their party formula on other political parties |

We saw how direct primaries was conducted in Lagos the last time which resulted in ousting a sitting governor for a complete nobody only because he had the anointing of the godfather. It still has its flaws and will be manipulated by the polithievians 1 Like 1 Share |
