I no understand what you said.
But 3 gbosa for you..

Re: Why Phone Chargers Of 5V Outputs Electrocute And Even Kill At Times by womenareapess:
Kayberg:
I have heard many people say it is impossible for a 5V Charger to electrocute or kill someone. But based on personal experiences, I tell you it can electrocute and kill.

I am an electronic technician. The first time I experienced this was many years ago. I had this charger that will shock if I do not have any footwear on whenever I plug it to power to charge. This made me want to find out why this is so.

Later on, I read on the internet about a girl who was killed by using her phone while it was charging. Though the phone brand was a popular one, so their engineers denied the possibility of a 5V Charger killing anyone because the voltage is very much too low.

Also this morning, I read on front page about a man that died while using his phone. Firstly, I condemn the carelessness, because it's been a given warning on several occasions not to make a call with your phone while it's being charged.

Yes, the voltage is very much too low, but there is something missing in some Chargers. This is one reason I'll not advise you go to the market and buy just any random charger for use, because there is something missing in most of them!

This missing component, I noticed and found it in a Nokia Charger. Then observing all Nokia Chargers I find, it's in them! Meaning Nokia has discovered this widely ignored safety precaution long ago.

All Chargers come with 2pin plugs. Even the ones with 3pin plugs has the third pin made of plastic, which makes it impossible to link it to direct Earth, but Nokia discovered this method of internal Earthing, as this clears the voltage leak/reflection effects.

Some Chargers today still has that same component missing in it. So when you plugged it to an outlet, you feel a voltage/current reflection, which is very dangerous, as it can electrocute and even kill.

Once you plug your phone to charge, the first way to notice is without you having any footwear on, feel the body of your phone with one finger by swiping on it very slowly, (mostly phones with aluminium or iron frame) once you feel that voltage reflection, your charger is not safe for use.

After I discovered this hitch, I checked a random charger purchased, and alas this component was missing!
Then I got it from the market and fixed it in. And the voltage shock/reflection stopped.

So, be observant.
Be careful.

Modified:

The missing component comes in different sizes, types, part number, shapes, and manufacturer.
It's used to create a ground between either the AC input, or /negative/anode, or positive/cathode of the bridge rectifier diode, to the output, either to negative or positive; (mostly negative output) which will clear off any possible voltage/current reflection to the output.

Note: If the one/type used is not the appropriate, it can cause severe reactions or electrocution. So, take note to use Metal Oxide Varistor 471K.
anyone who believe this piece of shiit can believe anything that came out of the mouth of a baboon undecided

Do you even know the concept of a phone charger?
Do you even know what is transformal, resistor and transistor? undecided

When you torch something thats not shocking while your foot is not wearing any shoe, just know that your house is not properly been earth

Are you trying to tell me that I should buy charger and be breaking it to check and if that particular resistor is inside before I can confirm is the charger is authentic undecided

Use your technical Sense to know that there is a transformer in your charger which break down the voltage to 5v and once it spoil there is no way for it to continue because the inductive core in the transformer got break. At this point, your charger will be like two naked wire without contact undecided

My people perish because of lack of knowledge!

Stop misleading people please, you claim to be an electrical engineer but doesn't know the difference between a conductor and a non conductor, AC currents and DC currents
1.Plastic as used in phone chargers cannot conduct electricity.
So there's no way voltage will get to you or phone.
2. There's a transformer in phone chargers that change AC ( alternating current
..like the current in a wall sucket that can shock) to DC (direct Current..like the current in a car battery)

There's no way AC current @ 220v will escape the transformer that it's supposed to change it to DC 5V and travel through plastic which is a non conductor to the phone or the user.

As for phones electrocuting people , I think the electronic components inside the phones are responsible and not the chargers.

If this is how you see everything, then everyone should be careful to listen to anything you say.

What do you know about electronics that you have to call that a resistor? Is that a resistor in your eyes? Or don't you know what a resistor is and what it does? In your zeal to find a fault, you just goofed.

What is the meaning of neurolo?
Don't let me start correcting you by proof reading your comment this morning.

It's a pity you're the one here with an empty skull.
I see all you know about electronics is just the old type of step up/down transformer with 220/5V.

When was the last time you even opened anything electronic?
So you think all chargers now come with such transformers as used in those days?

And even funny enough, modern Chargers do not always have their transformers easily damaged because the input supply to them have been filtered and reduced by their power transistor(s), which will rather take the damage instead of the modern (bakelite type) transformers. The old type of chargers are the ones with lamination irons that looks like 'E', 'F' and/or 'I' when dismantled.

If your 2Amps Charger today is to come as per your description of tranformer, don't you know how heavy it will be?
If you don't understand the write up, ask questions please and stop displaying your lack of understanding online.

P.D.: I did not ask anyone to use any kind of resistor at the specified. Because if you use a resistor there, unless for any above '5MΩ', consider yourself ready for obituary. And no resistor should ever be used at the specified.

oga abeg be calming down.
the op is right. me too I use to find it difficult to believe that a charger of 3.3v - 12v max can electrocute people until I understood the concept of earthing.
go ur information and possible correction (if u accept)
a transfer's job is not to conver A.C to D.C but rather to step up or down voltages( ie stepping down high voltage to low voltage or stepping up low voltage to high voltage) depending on how the designer place the primary and secondary coils.
converting from A.c to D.C is done free-wheeling diodes that can either be designed in full bridge rectifier mode or half bridge rectifier mode which recently are now in IC packages.

New chinese cheap chargers now trade these transformers in the course of making cheap devices with capacitors that are cheaper but easy to burn.

First note! Why will you even buy a Chinese charger that doesn't followed standard ethical guideline of electronic? undecided

Sorry I forget! Is because of poverty and the love of cheap product and also our Igbo brothers who loves to bring in counterfeited product to this country.

By the way! You don't use Chinese charger as a measure guide to prove your claim!

Your Samsung, iPhone and the the major top brand phone products do all have transformer in it.

no no! Modern phone charger do have transformer but just that the transformer is gotten portable way smaller.

Those pictures I showed you is that of modern iPhone charger and that of Samsung. If you look careful the transformer is gotten smaller.

Any electronic that requires to step volt further to 18v or less all do have transformer. For example your laptop charger adaptor has transformer because it requires to break the volt down to 18v.

Further note! All modern phone company or product still use transformer base on regulatory rules to protect there phone products from electrocution. A normal ic board without transformer, once it got spoil the full force of current will pass directly to the phone hence phone explosion (due to those stupid fake Chinese charger) but a normal charger with transformer, once spoiled, there is no way the current will pass further.

It's clear you don't understand my english, if you do, you won't be here ranting and arguing unnecessarily.

You'd find it difficult to learn with your kind of mind and thinking.
Who said there is no transformer in a Charger?
Read your previous comment, then read my previous reply properly.
Transformers comes in different sizes, shapes, types, ratings and evolution.
Why are you just understanding only yourself?
Sit down and learn.

Mind you, we are discussing on mobile phone chargers, not yet even SMPS.
Your description for the kind of transformer to be expected in your described charger matches with only AC Step Down Transformer (pic 1), which is now outdated for a mobile phone charger.

My description for a transformer in modern chargers with little explanation is DC-DC Transformer (pic 2).

According to your argument, you expect to source a DC-DC Transformer with 220VAC, and expect it to function without burning?
Calm down and learn.
Will you?

Coming from a baboon itself, with little knowledge of a quack, trying to show force.
Take your Multimeter and follow these steps.
That same Iphone charger, plug it to power, check the readings of the input pins of the transformer, it must have 4 pins on the input side, and 2 pins on the output side.
On the side with 4 pins, (input side) 2 of the pins are for DC Source. 1 pin goes directly to either 'positive or negative of the power rectifier', and the other pin must go to the 'collector'(for a Power Transistor) or 'drain/source'(for a MOSFET, base on which line the manufacturer chose to regulate)

Now, take the reading and tell me what you see when you read in AC Range 750VAC/1000VAC, then again, switch your Multimeter to Range 1000VDC, and tell me what you see.

P.D.: Take note to be very much careful. Don't go and kill yourself to blame it on me while you're trying that. If you are not good enough to that level, don't you ever ever try it; the above experiment. I've warned you.
