The 71billion is just for one project, the itakpe warri ajaokuta rail project. The last time we checked, only 1billion in revenue was realised from the entire raillway as at 2020 till 2021. And they r appropriating 71billion naira for a project that isnt generating funds for the state.. Imagine investing 72billion in agriculture, investing 72billion naira in our trunkA n B roads.... |

MarveworldG:Really ? With less that 0.5% of the budget allocation for railways? The budget for railways is not even double the budget for state House |

rabankonchas:Greatmapet: You think Acoustic sensing and security surveillance are not relevant to Rail track? You know this by what exposure (not to talk of experience) if I may ask?[Acoustic sensing from my experience is used for condition monitoring. I've assembled and deployed some AS tools used for data acquisition and integrity monitoring. In this case, it can track the train, data acquisition and sensing for rail maintenance purposes included. So it's a plus. |

I wish they would invest that in expanding our Power transmission capacity (TCN) Buhari would have gone down as one of the greatest presidents if he had focused on expanding TCN rather than all the rail projects Even if there was insecurity but our power capacity was expanded considerably to say 20,000MW, the whole country would have seen a cumulative positive effect |

tmtech:Why are you only asking this question about railways? What of the thousands of Kilometers of roads and expressways, have you asked about the recovery plan of the billions invested over the years? I guess you don't know railway is like a road, only made of steel tracks a special vehicle called trains can travel. |
| Re: FG Earmarks ₦71.6 Billion For Railway Projects by Ovamboland(m): 4:52pm On Oct 20, 2021 |
poiZon:About 200bnwill be invested in the Lagos Ibadan expressway, how much cash has it generated back, and who has been collecting it? What if Niger bridge, East-west road,PH -Aba expressway? should we not build these roads snce there're not generating enough cash? You're simply struggling to discredit the railway investments, which are still under construction and yet to be fully linked by all segements |

Ovamboland:Roads r basic infrastructure, rail is necessity... Toll those roads if neccessary so as to get money back for maintenance... Am not discrediting the rail whatever, am nit comfortablewith the incessant hype and inglorious noise from this govt whennin the actual sense they r doing nothing.. |

Ovamboland:Like your moniker you will be defeated like in they did to unita and Ovamboland in Angola , Gej treated all Nigerians fairly , buhari hates igbos and is using state resources to hunt them , buhari not the fulanis have set himself as the enemy of the Igbo ppl , can u imagine you completely cut off a part of the country that pays taxes yet no access to the National goods while freeloaders like u are benefiting |

poiZon:Now that the roads are not tolled and not making a kobo back why are you not wailing against further billions invested in road networks? Allocations to roads in next year budget is many time s larger than 71bn why are you not calling for no construction without cash payback plan? You have confessed your pains, you know rails are extremely useful but you have issues with the present government taking credit for any of it's work. You're merely playing politics and disguising as a citizen of conscience. You secretly wished the projects failed and remain unfinished or unusable, that will give you more joy. That's why your ilk will celebrate any fault or breakdown, daily praying for an accident even if innocent Nigerians would die, i kniw your type |

amuwo1980:GEJ cabinet was dominated by SE and SS appointees and he said it himself, SE was the pillar of his (mal)administration, no need for revision or denial. Since your people dominated GEJ govt for 6 years it's not SW fault that non of your leaders thought it wise to complete any meaningful infrastructure projects in SS or SE. I take it that infrastructure was not important to you all you need is juicy appointment for your elites, maybe less than 200 in number. That's why you can't bring yourself to acknowledge the biggest public project in the last 40 years in SE/SS is been constructed by the man you claim cut off your region, those who loved you only gave appointments to few elites who can have extra girlfriends and send their kids abroad to study, nothing else. You are right he did not give your elites many appointments beyond statutory ones like ministers. If Buhari had known he should have given you like 100 extra appointments and used the 200bn or so for the second Niger bridge to continue the railway from Ibadan to Ilorin/Abuja, we would have loved him more it. Who appointments epp? only SE are killing themselves for lack of plenty appointments |

This thieves are just looking for how to eat more money. Our roads are in deplorable states they should fix it first before spending on railways. |

Ovamboland:We r d same.... U dont expect me to pray for ur messiah to succeed, as i wasn't expecting u to support my own messiah. So get the hell out and don't judge me when u r or were doing worse back then. Just like i said roads r basic infrastructure, rail is a necessity.... U construct rail when u have excess funds, no better economist or leader will go borrowing to fund projects when the world is experiencing tough times. How much has been invested so far in that ajaokuta-itakpe-warri railway? Meanwhile the management of rail facilities in Nigeria just requested for 60billion for procurement and payment of salaries next year, but they only realised paltry 1billion naira from 2020 till date and their wage bill is 6billion. The nurtw run on its own, the roads if commercialise can generate more than 100trillion naira in 3years considering the activities that is happening daily. Even without tolling, nurtw stil generate enough funds for most govts... Can rail transport do all these,NO. No matter how we connect raillines through out Nigeria, we will still need roads to evacuate goods and people to their domain. |

poiZon:Please we're not the same, I'm talking about what is in the best interest of the country which is to combine roads and adequate railway system to aid businesses to reduce cost of logistics, boost exports and manufacturing. You are here playing politics, calling white black, maybe paid by politicians in the cold to wail and condemn everything both good and bad in the hope people will be deceived to return them to power. 60bn request is mainly for capital projects not for just maintenance and salaries, but NRC must defend their total budget before the NASS. They wont defend recurrent cost one day and come back another day to defend capital expenditure. When there were no trains running, was there no budget for NRC? Were the staff salaries not being paid? They were not making any returns and you were all cool with it. Now that they operate a few lines and make some returns, you all suddenly got sad. You are even sadder they are going to rehabilitate moribund lines, acquire new coaches and wagons for freight, from the 60bn and bring more services to Nigerians. Of course many gullibles too will parrot 60bn for maintenance and only 1bn returns as that is what evil minds were hoping and praying to happen. In virtually all jurisdictions where railways and roads are combined and used to deliver goods, a 50% reduction is seen in the overall cost of transport, why will anyone want to deny this to Nigerian businesses on the altar of playing politics if not evil minds? |
