Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi Friday said train service will resume on the Abuja-Kaduna route on Saturday, days after a section of the rail line was blown by gunmen.

Amaechi, who disclosed this yesterday during an on-site inspection of the scene of the blast, said government is working with the Department of State Services and the Chief of Army staffs to apprehend the suspects.

The minister said the government was deploying digital security sensor on the railway tracks such that they can easily know when there is any impact on it.

“The repair work is completed. What is significant is that the repair was done by our Nigerian engineers and completed in record time,” Amaaechi said on Friday.

“They moved in oday and finished today and by tomorrow, we expect that the first train run by tomorrow.”

The Minister said their has been ongoing procurement process for the digital security system, saying what the incident has done was to fasten the procurement of the digital system they want to put in place.

He said “It had gone to cabinet two weeks ago and it was returned. So we will represent it to cabinet to ensure that we get approval so that we can install digital security network.”

“The essence of the digital secutity system is to enable us when there is an impact on the rail. There is a sensor, when people cross the rail or do anything, we will be able to know and we will be able to forestall this kind of attack.”

The Minister added that the Nigerian Police will be patrolling the railway corridor prior to the installation of the digital security system.

“I am happy that our people fixed it. I am not happy that the security breach took place but what it has done is that it has shown that we actually have the capacity to fix our rail.”

GMB should leave rail construction for now.

Let him focus more of his energy on road infrastructure, security and power.

This train we dey borrow billions of Naira dey construct, they are all running at a loss.

Nah from the small oil money we dey generate we dey use pay back the loans.

This line have been put out of service now, if is constructed by a private company, the company would have pafuka, expecially with this unexpected gbese bandits terrorists don unleash on the rail line and train itself.

Promising improved security on rail tracks when the country itself is not secured from the same bandits cum terrorists the government have been defending every day?

Meanwhile, why was the NPF quick to dismissed this train attack as not being caused by terrorists? Perhaps they habour these treasonable elements.

Crime is naught but misdirected energy. So long as every institution of today, economic, political, social, and moral, conspires to misdirect human energy into wrong channels; so long as most people are out of place doing the things they hate to do, living a life they loathe to live, crime will be inevitable, and all the laws on the statutes can only increase, but never do away with, crime.

It is not in Amaechis capacity neither is it his responsibility to provide security for Train passengers anywhere in Nigeria. His job description is solely to facilitate movement from one place to another using Trains as the means of transport.

He should not blame himself or assume responsibility. He should, if at all advise PMB.

Oga, direct this your energy to the terrorists that you prefer to call bandits, so that you give 'children of hate' nothing to hate for.

When it was time to repair, you people realise the Nigerian Engineers can do the job and very fast within a day, but when it comes to the actual construction it was China that could do it. Nigeria is one great country that I so much believed in and we should encourage anything that will make it work.

For those of you insulting this country, let me remind you that over where, you are still called a Nigerian and you still identify with your people over here.

We understand things are "very very very" bad and hard now but the truth is that I can't stop loving my mother land

Mr. Amechi please ensure local content is given priority before any foreigner is considered which will help in creating jobs and money...
