Remember when I said we need to be patient with Partey's conditioning?

Well, we are seeing it now. He is finishing back to back games even after featuring for Ghana.

He need rest, this guy has been playing rubbish too but it's understandable
Fair play to white his best game in arsenal colour
Tavares is a reliable backup

Lacazette has kept the Villa backline very busy and that is as a result of the constant pressure and decision to keep possession.

Very impressive first half.
Laca is literally d life of arsenal. Him comot nd d team is in disarray. But 4 some reason jodera nd some other assnal fans thinks he's useless to d team

If that is his only failure today, I will gladly take it. He has been composed and attacked intelligently, knowing when to sit back and when to press. He has also inverted perfectly to support the CBs. Not saying Tierney is suddenly poor but he has lost form and his presence made our attack too predictable in the midst of other offensive options. Hopefully, this benching will reset his brain.
Tierney surely needs to rest considering the number of games he’s played of recent . I also believe he will benefit more if this new formation/set-up is given more consideration

Lacazette is a striker that doesn’t score . Arsenal is not Liverpool that can afford to have a number 9 who scores occasionally ..... maybe if Arteta wants to use this 4-4-2 Lacazette will be favored to partner Auba .

Lol.. Just because I said I prefer Auba to laca in this arsenal team that's lacking goals due to the fact that Auba scores consistently more than Laca, it now means Jodera says Laca is useless.

Like useless?? grin

Make we no dey exaggerate words or person talk just because some situation go your way which was a different opinion to someone else grin

Really Enjoyed this game.

Special Mention to all the back line (starting from the keeper) to Tavarez who made his debut.

Laca, ESR and the midfield pivot two deserve special mention too.

Will drop my thoughts on the match later grin

My thoughts on the game

1. Ramsdale is showing day by day why Arteta showed faith in him over Leno. Not just that his shot stopping prowess is impressive but the way he initiates and pushes our attack for a quick counter deserve praise. Aside that, his passes are top notch too. Fully deserving of the no1 spot.

2... Arteta got this one right. We pressed and attacked from the beginning of the match till over 70min wen we needed to conserve our win. This is what most fans are hoping to see and I'm glad we were able to attack and press from the front even after getting the first and second goal. Nice first half, nice 2nd half. Kudos to the coach

3... The back four today was impressive, aside from the lapse in concentration leading to their goal, they were really imperial. Gabriel keeps on giving 8/10 performances week in week out while tomiyasu and White were very impressive. Tavarez was really great and brought something extra to the team. I love his attacking runs( esp with the ball) and his dribbles. Worthy back up for Tierney

4.. The partnership of lokonga and Partey is really gelling and I love it. Even tho Sambi seems raw and sometimes loses concentration in midfield, but this guy is a gem. I love his confidence and how he drives the ball from deep up to opposition box before giving the pass. This is what we miss in midfield for long and with more playing time, I wonder how far Sambi will go. I also love Partey esp his disguise passes which leads to opening of defence. Also glad he got his first goal for us. All his aerial ball on corner kicks looks a threat and I'm glad he finally scored one.

5.. Smith Rowe, What more can I say about this talent? Aside his goal, this lad was everywhere. His movement and intelligence on the ball just reminds me of ozil tonight with the way he glides away from players. His workrate also was very very outstanding. Easily Motm for me

6.. Special mention to lacazette. Seems to have understanding with the wingers and his pressing from the front was superb. Auba tried in his attacking forays but I feel he didn't press enough as ESR was doing most of the pressing from the front alongside Laca.

More so, Saka is very tired and needs a rest badly. I hope Arteta grants him one, esp as Martinelli is available

A very good and needed 3 points and I hope Arteta keeps the momentum rolling.

Coyg!!!!

I agree with you. I believe Tierney can only come back stronger.

The major problem with last week game as mentioned by Roland and Spy was making Odegaard to play out of position, it weakened Partey and by extension the defense. It was as if Arteta is unwilling to bench either Odegaard or ESR. The fact that we are blessed with 2 good AM doesn't mean Arteta should turn it to a curse. We have Lokonga, AMN and Mustafi to partner Partey or Xhaka in the absence of any of the 2.

Arteta should not be afraid to bench either of Odegaard or ESR... they can be used interchangeably... Same with Pepe/Martineli/Saka. Many times it give these players deserving rest and when they get the chance to play, they put in their best. We saw Pepe improved last week after he was benched the week before that.

Pep has many good players that can play same position and he uses them interchangeably. It's nearly impossible to predict the 11 players he will use for any match. And it's working for him.

I'm glad with the win today. I would have loved it with a clean sheet though. All the same... We movee

I noticed that our final third (attacking department) is lacking. We can be creative in midfield and give nice passes, but when we reach the opposition box or close to it, we'll become confused/clueless. Most of our passes are not just it and we're always taking slow/wrong decisions in the opponent's box. I hope Arteta works on it to be honest

Lol.. If it's that I would have said such sef. But on the contrary, they make so many wrong decisions, they would shoot wen a teammate is clearly opened, or would pass wen a square ball would be better. Sometimes, they'll give underhit pass or overhit passes.

The attacking move that was 99% right was the big chance Saka missed cos everything was spot on starting from Partey to ESR, to Nuno to Saka. Aside from that and out 3rd goal, most of the others just break down

Ramsdale ball distribution either clearance or passes are always on point.
I never wanted this guy but he's fast becoming a character in arsenal.

One thing I like and noticed about our players is that this new breed of players have this winning mentality and desire(esp the defence and keeper). I just hope we have a coach who won't quench their fire and take us to the very top or hopefully Arteta turns to a kind of klopp and takes us to the very top

Lol... I swear. Anytime I look at Ramsdale, I know he has a semblance to someone, but I just couldn't place who.

This guy is just making everyone forget how Leno was for us by bringing in all the complete packages Leno lacked.

As it is the norm on arsenal for every players seeking new contracts to start giving 100% but after the contract, dem go enter ghost mode.

Should we offer Laca a new contract?

Also I feel if we are really building, a new younger striker at this stage won't be bad.

BTW, ESR seems to be serving me an humble pie. I questioned arsenal's ambition by giving the number 10 Jersey to a rookie like him. Make I siddon dey watch.

In other news, Guen for £11m euro? Yay or Nay?

Like I said, we need a Striker that can score goals as well as offering interplay. Laca tho he tried, but we need to move on from him.

Also, arsenal management no too get plans, someone like Balogun should have been loaned last season or 2 seasons ago so that he can be ready for the first team. Now we have a player in balogun who isn't ready for the first team(back up) but over-ripe for the u-23s.

As for guen, we still need him for midfield enforcement/depth but if he a have that negative attitude, we should sell him
