Even ur left hand must not know what ur right hand earns, let alone ur full community.

This question can be answered especially among colleague's...... If one is applying for an opening in the firm where you work and he/she ask your the range of your salary assuming he/she would be employed to same level with you, I don't see anything wrong in telling that person your salary. It's not also bad to tell your parents depending on the kind of food parents though, but you see wife or galfriend.....no try am. Instead, tell them a lower figure from your actual pay, like 50 percent of your original pay.

This is inappropriate. No one should ask that if they have nothing to offer.

life is better enjoyed in secret though. That public thing causes too much wahala. You are safer when people assume you to be broke and lowly than when they think you're richer than you actually are. You attract a lot of unwanted attention. Some even just hate you like you're the cause of their own misfortunes. Others want to pile up responsibilities on you so that they can accuse you of not helping them when they were down. They're always trying to be on a revenge mission for nothing. If you earn 100k, live like you earn 40k and try to cry up the standing of your side hustle. Give an average impression and don't they to show off.

Your salary is not confidential. It is also not illegal in Nigeria to discuss your salary. If an employer to be asks you this question, you can tell them. It is not bad HR practice.

Whether they know or not, do they dictate your life affairs? Be a Man and know when to say no and yes and when to stand firm and when to be flexible and only spend what on those loved ones who truly appreciate and grateful and have potentials of doing same to others when they have and do this if you must only when its convenient for you to spend.

Una go just dey type rubbish all in the name of yarning, I have probably hired over 30 different team members over the past 4 years and current salary allows us to have a good starting point for negotiations especially for well qualified candidates. We can't offer someone currently making $80,000 a year lesser money for the same job or higher position, it would most certainly be a deal breaker and besides all pay information can be verified easily for those of us overseas, it is only primitive nations like Nigeria where things are hidden or hard to get.

My dear dumb hirer...always conduct your due diligence before inviting applicants for a role.you already have a budget for the role for christsake and also have the cvs before they are invited ...applicants are humans like YOU seeking to find better opportunities. If your basis for negotiations was their previous engagement salary/wages most would not even apply....
I can also see you have quickly listed your achievements....you have hired over 30 teams member probably through this method and most likely they are underpaid going by your demeanor
You are classically above the primitive Nigeria...the quick use of the dollar sign to depecit the inferiority complex u suffer..
