I documented my trip from Shijiazhuang to Hangzhou in an 18-hour trip. I took the slow train for this journey because the fast train did not fit my time frame. The slow train can go up to 160km/hr, while the fast train can do over 300km/hr.

There were several stops along the way to pick up and drop off people, in fact, my cabin of 4 people was only filled to capacity for like 4 out of the 18-hour trip.

On this thread I will be sharing my experiences about Chinese trains and clear the air on some misconceptions that Nigerians have about the trains the Chinese brought to us

1. China have slow trains too and those trains even look a lot more aged than the ones that are brought to Nigeria. So China, actually supplied Nigeria with what is relatively a much modern train compared to their own slow trains.

I will also like to add that the bulk of the Chinese trains are the slow ones. But they are very well maintained on the inside even though they might appear aged on the outside.

Time will tell if Nigeria can maintain its own trains too

I just like the guy, I even miss him. I just got tired of western politicians' boring speeches, where they try not to offend anyone n rarely take sides. Trump doesn't care who is offended.

I hate his immigration policy tho cos it affected me in some way.

Take for example, Trump was strongly against the lockdown from the very beginning, d media came for his head. Has Corona stopped spreading in America now? There was zero lockdown in Nigeria so Nigerians won't understand the mental damage d lockdown is still having on people's me talk health. Their economy was breaking new records when that guy was around.

I beg to disagree with you. Calling Chinese trains "garbage" is totally low and untrue. Have you ever been on the Fuxing trains? They are the world's fastest conventional high speed train in regular service, with a operating speed of 350 km/h. How can anyone honestly call Chinese trains garbage? Agreed, the Japanese Shinkansen trains are classy, and efficient and punctual but so are their Chinese counterparts. If you don't mind, please, lecture us why you think Chinese trains are "garbage". Thanks.

china still better than japan, in almost all aspects.

the velocity is faster with fewer stations and less time to accelarate and decelarate . the magnitude of network is 10 times bigger. china has more bullet trains than the rest of the world put together and times 2 . the puntuality is the same , for there is no traffic jams or jumble of schedules , every line and its time is set aforehand. the japan trains are cleaner and have fewer passengers per car. japan also has bullet trains with more luxury cabins.

he is not comparing china and nigeria, he is comparing china trains in china and china trains in nigeria.

1. China have slow trains too

What your definition of a slow train? 180kmh is standard rail speed anywhere.

it is almost 100 km/hour . from HK to beijing, it cost 24 hours to cover 2300km.

if the bullet trains run among the satellite cities around the metropolis , they will be slow at less than 200km , for they have to stop feequently.

but the smooth feeling is wonderful, especisally during a rainy night and the glittering city lights flashing past like a dream.

the slow trains are more for the romantic students and those farmer-turn-worker-turn-enterpreneurs in the cities who still miss their younster time squeezing for a standing place in a crowded slow train.

The definition of a slow train is its relative speed. It's not necessarily because it is slow in the real sense of it. It is just much slower than the fast trains that can do over 300kph

it is true that China actually obtained their train technology from japan when they are just starting out. My Prof. alluded to this.

But While the Japanese trains are still fantastic, China is now the number 1 country with the biggest/longest tracks of high-speed train networks. This record however might be due to the fact that China is a much bigger country.

But I don't think the Japanese hold any material advantage over the Chinese. Both countries followed a path that suited their population and agenda.

The Almighty America doesn't have a single track of high speed rail line. How about that for a comparison?

Jeez!!!!
Stop spewing garbage.
Trains travel at different speeds depending on the infrastructure (track, and rolling stock , signaling etc)
1. Commuter trains travel less than 80km/h
2. Metro trains travel between 80 and120km/h
2. High speed line traveling above 200km/h.

Did you notice the shape of the rolling stock??
That’s for the speed at which the rolling stock will be traveling.
The Shinkansen doe 250km/h on a ballast less track.fucking expensive

Sure.

In that case, let's also talk about the subways in china.

Most major cities in china have the underground subway which burrows under the city.

While most subways are underground owing to its name, the Beijing subway actually comes above the ground at one of the lines.

The attached image is the seating arrangement and interior of the subways

Entrance of one subway line. You can see cars above the ground. It is from this ground level you begin to walk down the staircase to the subway but there are usually those electric staircases too

i am a chinese.

in my country, a bullet train , runs at 350km to 400km when it is running at its even speed. but if 2 cities are very close, say, 150 km from each other, the train needs time to accelerate and decelerate .

my city GZ is 150km away from HK. the bullet spends 45 minutes with a speed of less than 200km/hour while the green normal train spends 60 minutes . because, there are 5 stations between GZ and HK. only because it is easier to buy a bullet train ticket that people choose bullet train to do the short distance travel.

the advantage of bullet trains is represented for its long distance travel . it takes 6 hours from GZ to BJ, 2200km away, with only 5 stations too, but the stations are far between. the accelerate and decelerate time is negligible compared to the even running time. it costs the mormal trains 24 hours from GZ to BJ.

the metro in my city GZ is much slower, it costs about 3 minutes , including stopping time , to cover 1 station in downtown areas, which is about 15km from east to West and 10km from north to south. one station is 1km to 1.5km from each other. the metro will run faster at the surburb which is 50 times larger than the urban area, but the interval distance is longer too.so it costs 5 minutes for a station.

my city GZ has the third longest metro system in the world and in china the same, after SH and BJ.
