What do I do please ?someone used me as a guarantor on an online platform for over a year now and he never informed me about it until today when the lender gave me a call that they will take an action against me i was shocked since I never knew of it.pls what do I do?

Tell the lender that he is a fool next time he calls you. As long as you did not sign any agreement with your signature in it he can do nothing, they are mad for not seeking your consent before giving the loan.

Worry less, as long as there was no document that supports their claim, and you didn't sign anywhere.. It can aswell be a scam. In all, just relax and let them do whatever they want, you are not in any way guilty.

They can't do jack. Especially since it was done without your consent. In fact , most same-day loan companies can only enact guarantor loans with the guarantor as the co-applicant on the form. Secondly, this is something that can easily be contested in a court since you were not aware of the the transaction that took place between lender and the applicant . So don't bother yourself with their threats.

The calls are from online loan sharks -- Sokoloan, Eazimoney and their brothers.

Yes, the person in question borrowed money from them - and haven't paid them back ; but he didn't use you (or your name ) as guarantor.

They dug into his/her phone and extracted your contact.
He/she didn't give it to them.

So, chill and relax your mind.
You're safe.

Stop getting unnecessarily alarmed. Nobody used you as a guarantor. They only got your number from the borrowers phone. It's just one of the tricks loan apps use.

The person that borrowed the money dropped his number as someone they can contact when they can't get through him

It happens.
And it is only a recent development to kind of explain away their breaking and entering into people's devices, following the uproar their activities generated.

Their normal modus operandi is to leaf through your phone book, pick out the seemingly important contacts and message them with hope they will shame you into paying.

Your point is valid though.

Op it's all empty threat, I got similar text... May be the lender saved your number as bro pst or something kind of personal so they contact those person after they gave permission to the lender contact list upon registration... Like I said earlier said it's all a bluff

They think you don’t know your right
You didn’t consent to the borrowing and didn’t even get noticed by the lender before the gave the loan to the person that borrowed the money
