DSS Warns Against Media Sensationalism by stephanie11(op): 8:03pm On Oct 29, 2021

The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to draw public attention to the manner sections of the media have continued to sensationalise news relating to some of the security challenges in parts of the country.

In a statement signed by its PRO, Dr. Peter Afunanya, the agency observed that some media handlers give unnecessary attention and coverage to the activities of bandits, terrorists and secessionists. This is condemnable given that these elements thrive on undeserved publicity which they enjoy from media patronage.

Amidst heightened insecurity in the South East and the upcoming Anambra State Governorship election, the media is advised to apply restraint and avoid sensationalising news.

The DSS believes that this dimension of reportage holds negative consequences for public order and peaceful coexistence.

The Service will, however, continue to collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to ensure not only a hitch free electoral exercise but that a conducive environment necessary for citizens to pursue their legitimate businesses in and outside the State is provided.

DSS officers have been gunned down by UGM in Anambra why not channel your frustration on the UGM and not the media. Bunch of cowards.

So I shouldn't be bothered about what is happening around me?

I remember back in 2003 way before Social Media
The ONLY source of News that Nigerians watched was NTA, AIT
If you kill 20 people and these 2 tv station don't report it. Nigerians will not know 20 ppl we're killed.

Now Social Media has changed the game.
You don't need to wait for NTA or Channels to report what happened.
Within 5 seconds all the blogs don carry the news with picture, video and screenshot.
Social Media gives you report as the event is happening live and direct without cooperate bias

Why is a judge preventing law from taking its course?

They came with a warrant and they were prevented from executing it. Is there something missing or is the judge hiding something?

Is such judge supposed to continue to sit on the bench?

All security agencies have become gods under Buhari's military dictatorship.
They just issue threats, laws, rules and fiat every week.
From EFCC to DSS to Customs to Immigration to Civil Defense to NArmy.

Everybody has become a defacto President alongside Buhari

The chief magistrate issued an order on Friday night accusing the government of misleading the court.

The order read, “Upon misrepresentation to this honourable court that led to the issuance of a search warrant in favour of Joint Panel Recovery, Ministry of Justice, against House 9, Imo Street, Maitama, Abuja, dated October 29, 2021. In view of the above fact, the said search warrant is hereby revoked.”

Failures want other people to fail in their own duties too. Fools!

The media will never fail! They will continue to report everything so that the failure of ALL the security outfits in Nigeria, whose only stock in trade is to aid and abet the misrule of the moronic compound fools called political leaders, will become visible to the blind and audible to the deaf.

Only in Nigeria will agencies be issuing threats to citizens here and there as if they "co-ruling" the nation! These are people supposedly paid by tax payers money, people who should be at the service of the people and not at the service of the polithiefcians!

Newapapers give accurate reports on incidents.....NTA opens by 3pm AIT was only in Lagos....the most accurate information sources were the newspapers which they are still doing.
