misterjosh: It's a done deal, already approved by the legislature before Buhari, your legislators are very late to the party and are just using you to catch cruise and burnish their political career. Did the same legislature not attack the terms of loan for Abuja Kaduna rail, 10 years after it was signed and 4 years after the project was commissioned. They were sleeping on duty that they didn't realise they were in power in 2010 when the loan was obtained and they had approved it. Of course pigs were hailing them because they posture to be fighting Buhari and Amaechi |

nairaman66: You are incapable of thinking, so they will transport uranium exports by pipeline and return imports of goods needed plus manufactured Nigerian products to Niger by the same pipeline? Do you know what it will cost to lay pipeline from Niger to the seaports? And you can't use pipeline for anything else. You just hate to see the rail so can say nothing has been done, hence all your irrational rants. That's what hatred and bigotry does to people, it makes you incapable of rational thought. |

The main reason and the plan for the line from Kano to maradi, is to transport crude from se, ss to niger refinery, built by bubuu, and to transport, refined product from niger back to Nigeria. |

PrudencyFeats: This is the truth. Ameachi is privately scathing of Buhari. Ameachi once complained that Buhari never reads anything handed to him. He is not doing this willingly but because he has no say in the matter. Ameachi has already confessed that he had to be going to Niger Republic to beg them to accept this 'freebie' gift from Nigeria. Amaechi can carry on and do good work overall or he can stand down, in protest against the Nigeria-Niger Republic rail line, and then be replaced literally the same day. That is the only option if he wants to reject the explicit instruction of Mr.President. |

MyExpression: Ignorant kids on rampage, you're not matured enough to lead or create anything. The railway is under construction, Nigeria and Niger will benefits along with the millions of Nigerians living along the the over 1500km stretch, Lagos seaport will generate more funds and jobs. Usually such funds are shared to buy diamond bra, suv etc, so I can understand the distress this project is giving you. Good enough nothing you say here will stop realisation of the long term vision. |

Ovamboland: You could quote these pointers in your previous mentions, instead you chose to be petty. Well, just so you know, Lagos port is overburdened at the moment. The concessions and tax policies in Nigeria is not favourable to Niger compared to the distance and financial cost Niger benefits from Cotonou. They are a large market no doubt, because of their landlocked disadvantage and availability of minerals. Yet, there is the question of competition from other neighbouring nations. Building a massive rail line as a competitive edge might also mean giving Niger transport discounts too and other undisclosed factors. However, the real question is, have we over utilised our resources here in Nigeria...have we fully connected Nigeria for maximum economic benefits, before integrating Niger majorly for their goods. Building a rail line reduces our negotiation power because we are already at loss and need to recover. So now, Niger has the chips. That's a bad way to compete. Matter-of-factly, a country like Ghana may not give us more goods but the human traffic on a daily can double what Niger has to offer in goods. Nevertheless, Niger no get money. Na we Nigerians go still go der to buy their mined products and export to Nigeria and overseas...just like we're doing in Benin Republic. |

PrinceOfLagos: You ignoramus. As ignorant as the lawmakers you quoted. If south east economy is that big why are the people not staying put there instead of littering other cities with their gala and pure water in traffic business. The railway line is not built based of sentiments but economic consideration. The economic benefits is huge and no sentiments will stop that. Funnily its easterners that will benefit more ftomit because it will mean more access to more markets elsewhere in Africa. Una no talk when Nigeria built a bridge to link cameroon.....the west african coastal countries are linked with Nigeria gas....that is not an issue afterall its linking southerners with west africa....northerners dont deserve it....bloody hypocrites. Apart from the new trains all other rail tracks are narrow guage....we cant just abandon them....whats wrong with rehabilitating and using them while building new ones. Lagos to kano narrow guage was first made to function before construction of new one began.....thats the intention of rehabilitating PH maiduguri narrow guage. If you are looking for blame then it should be to PDP that wasted 16 years and couldnt do more than replace the stones on the railtracks while embezzling billions voted for railway rehabilitation 1 Like |
