I have been using a xiaomi note 7 for the last 2years+ now in the last few month (like 6 months ago) my power button has gotten really sensitive, any slight pressure applied to it or around it would cause my phone to reboot or make the phone useable, I thought the problem was probably because I had be using the phone for a while, my brother uses a xiaomi note 9 he bought the phone December last year the same problem has afflicted his phone it started I think last month, it seems xiaomi is cutting cost when it comes to putting proper power buttons on their phones, i am thinking of buying a new phone can I get recommendations that is not infinix, tecno, itel and xiaomi.

I'd used Xiamo Note8 for over a year, and nothing of such happened. There's a way you guys handle the phone that is not right, cos the power button doesn't have a sensor, it works when pressure is applied to it, that is pressing. So may be, you've manhandled the button by pressing it unnecessarily harder.

You guys are really funny... ogbeni it's not about Xiaomi.... it's about the user... besides 2 years, your phone has tried. I used an RN7 for over 1 year and gave to a relative who's been using it for 2 years now... it's still working fine. since late 2018.
I'm currently using RN8 for more than 1 year .. bought mid last year... Yet I'm still flexing it Wella... not even a single scratch or fault.... wanted to buy RN10, but as price go up, I say make I still dey flex the RN8....
it's not Xiaomi, bro ..... it's the user.

You used 2 phones to come to a conclusion that this issue affects the whole company that produces millions of phones each year. Take your phone to a technician and find out what's wrong with it

Even people that their power button doubles as fingerprint scanner have not had this problems na only you and your brother

Xiaomi makes good cheap phone I don't argue but they are able to achieve this by cutting costs anywhere they can, I think this is the result of that.

I currently use Redmi 8 which I bought in October 2019.
I haven't experienced such; the fone has fallen from my hand, from bike it's still intact.
Only charger i have changed. So i think it's a thing of personal UX

i don't think the problem affects everyone but then there is a sizable portion of xiaomi users that is or will be affected

None of this screenshots shows that this problem is related to power button cause none of the supposed solutions had anything to do with repairing power button.

Literally any phone you browse for problems you'll see a number of people complaining about it so seeing a number of complaints from people that have used a phone for 2yrs plus is not enough reason to dismiss a complete phone company

I agree with this to some extent because some specific type of phones or phones brands are more likely to exhibit a particular type of problem while other don't, for example google search "sensitive power button infinix" and also Google search "sensitive power button xiaomi" the result will be different and if you say I am lying screenshots the result and let everyone see. Now that's not to say that infinix makes perfect good phone (they obviously don't)

so seeing a number of complaints from people that have used a phone for 2yrs plus is not enough reason to dismiss a complete phone company

I would like to think that I am not dismissing the brand at this point I am just tire of using xiaomi phones

If you want to change phone you can just go ahead and do that without bashing a full brand. I have Huawei P30 pro 8/256 for sale, 150k

and outrightly saying a company makes all their phones with faulty power buttons isn't ridiculous?

It's safe to say you guys don't know how to lightly press the power button.

I've been using Xiaomi since I bought the note from protein0 years ago, and nothing of such has happened.

Different strokes for different folks

nope I never say all their phones are made with a faulty button, what I said was that a sizable portion has this fault as proven by the screenshot

the first image shows us that the Samsung galaxy s3 is the one with this sensitive button problem, the second image shows us that some iPhone 5 has this same problem, if you Googled the same thing using xiaomi you will find post way back that even talks about some redmi 1 having this same problem. I told someone this exactly today "some specific type of phones or phones brands are more likely to exhibit a particular type of problem while other don't" some galaxy s3 and iPhone 5 model happen to share this particular problem with a sizable portion of xiaomi phones shalom
