Chief Obasanjo is presently in Ethiopia as AU envoy trying to douse and de-escalate tension between Ethiopian government and the tigray rebels amid reports of TPL rebel forces rapidly advancing towards Addis Ababa.
This is coming one year after a fight broke out between Ethiopian central government and the regional government in tigray which has killed thousands and displaced millions.

I wish chief Obasanjo a success in this mission, it is definitely a tall order, he's a well respected figure in Africa and beyond, hopefully the rapprochement and happy medium will be achieved.
Ethiopians should bury all the hatchets and embrace peace, Africa has suffered enough due to corruption and maladministration, we don't need another civil war in Ethiopia, prime minister Aby Ahmed should bring all warring parties to negotiating table, dialogue is the only solution here, not bloodshed, we don't need another Afghanistan situation in Ethiopia.

You need nobody to tell you that a superior power is providing intelligence coordinates to the opposing forces. The way the very capable Ethiopian Army is being routed in this war should be a pointer.
This is the reason why most African despots will rather dance to the tunes of the West than risk being blown away by armed opposition.

How I wish tigray will learn from the experience of Biafra and without waste of time take Addis Ababa. This will be mistake of the decade if they listen to Obasanjo, the same role he played in 1966 he is playing in 2021

You're totally right that nationalism can effectively work in monoethnic societies. It's easier to make the case for national consensus on topical issues under this environment. But when you have a continent like Africa where there are maybe over a thousand ethnic groups, you can't be thinking of a thousand nation states. One has to be inventive here.

I think that in manageable situations like Ethiopia before this war or say Ghana and South Africa, having national conferences to discuss events in ways that guarantees constitutional rights of the amalgamating units in legally well defined manner is the key.

Issues surrounding power and it's usage should be defined in very clear terms before agreements on state formations are signed.
Switzerland provided a clear example.
West African States can learn from the Swiss example rather than this conspiracy between certain ethnic groups to dominate others with the help of some neo colonialists..

Fulani jihadists keep conquering territories within Nigeria and things are going from bad to worse but he is more worried about Ethiopia. Are you saying that he should turn down such assignment from AU? he's no longer the president of Nigeria man, but more than any other past president, he's still the most active in Nigeria when it comes to brainstorming and proffering solutions to national issues.
