Her SIM was probably cloned!

Charging your phone in public places can contribute to that. You leave the phone unattended and someone can remove the SIM and plug it into a SIM reader/cloner device...voila!

They get a blank sim and copy it back and they operate from there.

Oga calm down! He is right. In the policy statement of most online stores, they give the mandate to protect their customer's personal information which includes profile and phone numbers.

Even if a scammer clears your bank account running into millions and transfers it into his account in another bank, if you approach the bank of the thief, they will never give you his name or account details except you get a court order and summons from an anti-graft agency like EFCC with permissions duly signed by the Nigerian Police.
Nai make Nigeria nor go fit even better in the next 400years because it's actually the right of any financial institution to protect it's customers.
Just so unfortunate that banking institutions take advantage of so many customers caused by their own negligence of duty.
For example in a case like this, it is the responsibility of the bank to write to jumia or assuming is an inter-bank fraud, is also the responsibility of the bank to write and pick up your case with whom ever that is involve not the bank telling you to go a bring one yeye police report and police on their own will be looking for mobility fee. If you get problem like this sue the fucking bank for negligence of duty and report them to CBN.

Best thing is when collecting debit Cards from any bank please insist on them to put off your debit card from online use. As for me I control the used of my debit card from my mobile App. I put off online use of ATM CARD, POS and ATM. Until when I want to use it, I then put it on.

My sympathy to her. And hope you recover your money. But in future take precautions.

Jumia has no case to answer. It is binding on them to protect the privacy of their customers. The police needs to get a court order for Jumia to release such information. On the other hand, the bank is liable for this fraud. They have a case to answer for processing an OTP not was not reverted by the customer. Unless maybe, the victim has a close relation who has access to her phone.

As an IT support person, I can confidently say that her email address has been hacked into. Because OTP is also sent to the email.

Or
It is somebody close to her that did it.

. Most bank staffs now are thieves even the so-called contract staffs. They get your account details and connive with fraudsters They will get their shares of the booty later. They still called me some days ago with my bank and account details.I advise this woman to go on live broadcast in front of the bank with your Facebook and inform all Nigerians what the Bank has done. They will look for your money for you.

That is where the problem lies.

Imagine this woman for example that has been scammed of N215,000. If she goes to the police and EFCC, the police will ask her for money ranging from anything within the neighborhood of N50k to N100k for report. That alone will discourage her from continuing the case.

As for EFCC, leave those ones. They will not pay attention to you unless the fraud case you are reporting is anything from N5m above because their operandi is to collect their own cut from the money after it has been retrieved from the scammer.

As for suing the banks, the Nigerian justice system still sucks! Unless you are a highly placed person in the society, suing a bank in Nigeria is like fetching water in a basket because the bank is ready to offer millions of naira which the complainant has never seen or touched in his/her life to the judge presiding over the case and it will be swept under the carpet.

Nigeria is a mess!!

It is possible to divulge information if the client is using the platform to perpetuate criminal act or treasonable acts but it has to be a court order compelling the company to release the information

Once you commit fraud using the system, you nullify your right to privacy on the platform. They just didn't want to reveal those details because they were culpable too, that's all.
who determines whether one has committed fraud or not? The court ofcourse

had such experience with my gtb but I quickly blocked my account and went to the nearest branch to complain. luckily the amount was reversed after some days. truly GTB security is porous.
I found out it was because I used their website for transaction with my dongle because someone had such experience after transaction from their site.
I think their website has been bugged.
Never use your major account card to transact online..open a special account for that.

Same thing GTB did to me last year.
No OTP sent but online transactions were carried out.
Lost money... They talked about something called Payarena.
I have never used that card for anything online. It doesn't even have Security.
Nigerian Banks are thieves... All of them.

It’s people within GT that have a hand in this. Criminals have started working in GT. They need to start watching their employees closely. This also happened to me. I had to block the account. They refused to refund the money immediately as requested. Giving me long story and process. They are thieves.

The B.S. the Nigerian financial institutions do of shielding criminals and fraudsters is becoming ridiculous by the minute and there’s a need to put a stop to it....and they need to start screening and watching their staffs closely especially the ones who handle customers sensitive data.

If the victim is not culpable in anyway then she she should sue the fvcking bank after going to create a mad scene at their head office...they would either settle out of court or simply refund her money!

That jumia too is one hell of a criminal company and there are loads of rubbish laws being enacted and enforced in this goddam country which top of the list is protecting the identity and image of criminals and fraudsters...what rubbish!a thief has no honor miss me with some bullish.it of ensuring the privacy of some low-lifers!

I knew she was hiding something, either she gave out the OTP or someone was with her that saw the OTP.
So far the transaction generated OTP, no way to complete it without those codes.

This happened to me 2 years ago, my account was drained to a Zero by an unknown person. He bought airtime in 10,000s till my account was empty. I wanted to do a transaction and it was telling me that I had insufficient funds, I went to my then bank and asked for statements of account then it revealed that my former number which was stolen was used to carry out the act. The accountant told me that they blocked the account when they saw that the debit was too much, I was so pissed. I told them they were stupid cos I had tried to change that number before, I filled the form and no change was done. I stopped banking with them
