Quite possible. The Dongfeng has a weird looking skeletal RCWS so its possible thats it in its uninstalled version

That's not an RWS or an RWS chassis. Dongfeng Mengshi has manual turret and automatic grenade launcers.

It is possible, Nigeria Army bought a few recce versions that have RWS like in this picture below but we are not sure. I actually doubt it.
It is 12.7mm gün and some AGLs that we know

The picture you posted is on the heavy IFV variant which we don't know if Nigeria got. For context, the is the "skeletal" 12.7mm/40mm RCWS we were talking about. You can also see it operation in this video.

The dongfeng APC has a nice mobility but it's protection is kinda wack. Armour protection of 7.62mm ball at 100metres is pretty much worthless in the advent of an ambush.
It's better than our soft skin Hilux tho and it will be very useful for the special forces.

Anything is better than seeing those Hilux in the Frontline

You do know that there is primary PPE of flack jackets though. If you are seated correctly in the vehicle and wearing your jacket, I seriously doubt a fatality from 12.7mm ammunition, which would have been significantly slowed down by the Armour of the vehicle.

These systems are $180k at the very least. The vehicle on its own is just about $220k. I am not sure Nigeria would have gotten one RWS per vehicle. I acknowledge the advantages of RWS for laying cover fire from inside the vehicle during ambush and ability to work in a sniper infested battle field that pins down most manual gunners but I think RWS should be one per six vehicles

This is a mechanical operated poor mans RCWS, much like a periscope with a Gun attached. Not a real RCWS in common sense but the Gunner can operate the system protected from inside the vehicle. A electric operated RCWS starts from 150.000$, which is exceeds the costs of an armored 4x4 - sadly not an option for the NA at this point.

None of the APCs in that picture seems to have gun turrets and gunner shields on them, this points to the fact that there is no plan to have human gunners on them.
The weapon system in the video posted by shadowprimezero isn't exactly the conventional RCWS that cost the price you mentioned. While this particular one is still operated remotely from within the vehicle, it is still fully operated by man in all aspects. The cost cannot be up to that amount.

It was mentioned from the NAF documentary that some of the M346 aircrafts will be delivered this year, it's only about 50 days to the end of the year, I wonder if that the time frame is still feasible.

As basic as this system is, it is capable of changing a lot on the battlefield. I wish the NA can procure it in large quantities and fix on other platforms.

Relations between Algeria and morocco have become increasingly tense this days .

Algeria accuses Morocco of ‘murdering’ three Algerian civilians

A war is brewing between Algeria and Morocco. After a year of inflammatory statements from both sides, Algiers accuses Rabat of bombing three Algerian civilian trucks on 1 November.

On 3 November, Algeria’s presidency – via a statement – denounced “the murder of three Algerian nationals” who, according to it, had been victims of a bombing attack on 1 November “while travelling between Nouakchott and Ouargla,” aboard their trucks.

“Several factors indicate that the Moroccan occupation forces in the Western Sahara carried out this cowardly assassination with sophisticated weaponry through this new manifestation of brutal aggression which is characteristic of a known policy of territorial expansion and terror". Algeria’s presidency said in the statement.

Algeria’s presidency, which has opened an investigation into this “ignoble act in order to clarify the circumstances”, already seems convinced of Morocco’s guilt and promises that “this assassination [of the three truck drivers] will not go unpunished.

This last months algeria cut its diplomatic relations with morocco, banned all moroccan flights from its airspace to , and even cut off the gas passing over their land to spain, depriving them of algerian gas . And with this murder of algerian civilians on repulic sahraoui territory the situation will be worst .

Some people expect Algeria to heavily arm the Sahrawis so that they harass the Moroccan army

I see why Morocco is buying more aircrafts ( fighter jets, helicopters, drones, etc).

Morocco have been arming up and modernizing equipments in Response to Immediate threat assessment.

If Algeria can cut gas supply to Europe because of Morocco it simply means little more provocation can lead to war. That will cause serious problem for West and Central African countries.

Africa don't need more war.

*SOKOTO STATE POLICE COMMAND: PRESS RELEASE*

*Re: Sokoto Bandits Impose New Heads and Payment of Fines on Sabon Birni Villages*

The attention of Sokoto State Police Command has been drawn to the above purported story in circulation online and other media outlets that bandits impose new heads on sabon birni villages and payments of fines.

The command is using this medium to reassure member of the public particularly residents in Sokoto state that, the command did not rest on its oars in fighting against banditry and other criminality in the state.

Investigation reveals that, the above claim of bandits imposing heads on Sabon Birni villages is not substantiated. We equally device so many proactive strategies and intelligence policing to ascertain the genesis of such claims. However, there is an ongoing operation which the driven force is under *"Operation Hadarin Daji"* including the Military, Police, Airforce and Special Forces. Soonest, this operation will be taken to the bandits camp and normalcy will be restore in areas affected by banditry activities.

Members of the press as well as general public are enjoined to continue to support the security operatives in the ongoing Operations against banditry and other criminal elements in the State.

All you've said is true and very impressive, but I still believe there is greater potential in Nigeria..I'm Kenyan btw so I say this from the perspective of an outsider looking in with no bias

On defense industry, government's role should be facilitative..provide a condusive environment for private sector to thrive and offer support through bulk purchases, low interest or zero interest loans to companies on collaborative projects and assistance in marketing to foreign clients through soft power diplomacy.. Government should be no where near manufacturing, and that's a trend we are now witnessing in Kenya. Though the current leadership of KDF is progressive and efficient and geared towards manufacturing, what happens when leadership eventually changes and those in power become tools of the political elite..that is why most government run industries and companies are terribly inefficient, conduits for nepotism and never break even always begging for taxpayer funded bailouts.

Back to Nigeria's case, with all the conflicts the country's military has faced both internally and externally, such experience coupled with proper private sector RnD could lead to production of military hardware that best suits the environment at hand. This would offer the country an advantage in export to neighbouring countries as the selling point would be it's worked for us and we face similar situations to you, so it's also guaranteed to work for you. It may sound as an offensive cliche but there are literally Nigerians in every field in almost every country on earth..provide them with a condusive environment to bring their expertise back home, you won't have to be like Turkey and hire foreign expertise..plus improve your relationship with South Africa in RnD and everything else..that way you won't be like Turkey having to delay or even cancel export contacts because of sanctions on parts because you choose to diversify your partnerships
Call me overly pessimistic but if Africa's great powers don't collaborate in the military sphere..this continent will become the new middle east in terms of conflict and Anti-Terrorism operations this decade and we will all be forced to buy foreign military hardware to maintain strategic partnerships just like the UK has become a vassal and client state of the US, purchasing equipment from them that they can very well manufacture themselves just to keep the Americans happy..let's make our own equipment from our own experience and unique environment to solve our own challenges
It may be tedious but not impossible
African solutions to African problems

Philosophically, I can't argue with this! There may be political issues with nations vis a vis highly qualified techs in the specialised deftech field but intellectually you're spot on.

Edit: the complete 100% independence every African wants is impossible especially for complex platforms like jets and choppers. Eg even the Tiger gunship, seemingly either perpetually grounded when not trailing dense cockpit smoke has multiple 1st world nations involved in the different systems and subsystems.

The Defence Equipment Sales Authority (DESA), which is part of Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) procurement arm, has sold two retired Royal Fleet auxiliary ships to Egypt.

The Royal Fleet auxiliary ships, Fort Austin and Fort Rosalie, were released from service on 31 March this year. The total displacement of the ships is around 23,890 tons and their length is 185 meters.
